Hey Joey great vid as always, I have a question..... You said tie it like a chicken rig, I use a dropper loop, then cut the loop to make it a single strand, but then you referred to it as a spider hitch. Which knot do you use on your rigs? Second bonus question..... is the hot glue used to keep the float from sliding away from the hook? Makes sense, I've never seen that before but definitely a pro tip.
Awesome video as always. I make float hooks for my pompano rigs where I hot glue the tear drop floats on a 2/0 kahle hook with the eye just sticking out of the top of the float, then tie on. The way you do it, do you think the heat of the glue could hurt the strength or integrity of your leader?
Not sure. The glue gun I'm using is a kid one and it doesn't really get that hot. You can put it directly onto your skin and it is bearable. I haven't had any problems with line breaking so I guess it's all good.
Instead of hot glue, which can damage the line, I wedge a tooth pick in the float and snap it off. The broken piece of tooth pick does a good job keeping the float in place.
Great vid!!! But what type of conditions do you look for when heading out for pomps??? Water temp, wind direction or speed, before or after a front..what is the best time in your opinion?
I like to fish clean water with minimal current. I like both sides of the sandbar just usually not right on top of the SandBar although sometimes I can prove to be good also. The biggest thing is just finding where the big group of migratory fish are. Really help if you have a network to work with.
@@JoeyAntonelligreat advice...I fish down south and the pomps here dont bite with clear water...the water has to be turbid (nice blueish powdery color) and winds to be blowing at least 15 mph...but our main run is during Feb-April. Surf fishing in general gets really good in the winter time that is typically the better time of the year to catch Pompano, Whiting, Sheepshead, and black drum.
Did you notice if they preferred the live sand fleas over the blanched? And did you notice if you're top, middle or bottom hook got more fish than the other hooks?
I honestly think blanched sand fleas work better. With that said, live sand please stay on the hook better. I tend to get bit on my middle or top more often.
Perfect video bro. I fish 3-4 times a week on gulf side and have never caught a pompano. It's crazy to me that I haven't!!! But I want to so spot on video homie.
Lots of them available online but if you're just looking to try a couple out I would head on into strike-zone or black dog Bait and Tackle. Very knowledgeable staff and they will get you going in the right direction.

J Mendes Jr You can find pomps there. It just depends on conditions (wind, waves, water temp, etc). Right now, a little further north would be your best bet.
Nice info Joey, you are good at finding the spots too, it helps a lot to be at the right beaches for them. Someday I'll live closer to the beach , and hopefully can find them too. Happy New Years 🎣
Hi how you doing bro Michael here I found you on Victor landshark's channel. I am so grateful that. I did because you are one cool bro dude. You are actually the real deal yeah I want to become a fisherman like you if I could thank you bro be safe.
I'm not familiar with the pattern on the west coast, but I know they do loop around and head up that side of Florida. I would just call a local tackle shop for more information.
If you get a commercial license you can take more. I heard about$4 a pound at market. But idk forsure. The commercial guys I have seen off shore were nailing them on the silly jig with the stinger fly attached. Yellow and white jig with a pink stinger hook added is my favorite. Some days they will hit the silly jig with out the stinger and some days they only really want the stinger attached. I have seen the ones with the stinger fly out fish the ones with out 10 to one. Some days they take both. That's fishing things change day to day. Good luck fishing 🦐🐟

I do it the same way you do. I got mixed up on my not names. I use a loop knot and then cut one strand and tie the hook on
Michael Morgan a wooden toothpick does the same thing, keeps the float from sliding.
I hope you sold some of those!!! What was the water temp that day?

billn911 use bait. The rig (colors) attracts the fish to the bait (this case sand fleas).

Hi there and great video! I am planning a trip down to cocoa beach June 3 what species of fish should I target?

After you bait your hook put a small piece of Fish Bites about the size of 1/2 a dime on your hook behind your bait 😉
Mind saying what beach this is? I drove from tampa to Cocoa and can’t seem to find the bite :(
