For many years, I have been familiar with the performance on this day through bootlegs with good sound quality. I am grateful that I can now watch the highest quality video so easily. Greetings from Japan.
Given that it came out at the peak of their jet-setting decadence, this sounds way better than I thought it would. Even when they hit the bum notes, the dirty sounding guitars redeem them. Love it!!
Keith and Anita’s infant Tara died the night before of SIDS. Amazing they didn’t cancel. Also on a personal level this was shown on Toronto TV in 79’ or 80’ and I remember missing it. I think I had to work. Back then when you missed something on TV you missed it. It took almost 50 years but I finally saw it. The guitars sound great. Tons of over dubs on Love You Live. I like this raw ragged sound even better
Keith's 10 week old son died of SIDS on June 6th, the same day as the second date of this 3 night concert series in Paris. So sad this happened. Really surprising Keith was able to hold up on stage and play. But he played superbly.
Superb! Some of the rarest footage I have seen and well put together! It took some effort to rescue and present this material and it is rare indeed. Transitioning from Mick Taylor to Ronnie Wood was an uncertain time for the Stones but it worked. Wood is excellent and versatile enough he could contribute to some of their best work - - on the Some Girls collection - - but play a vital role on tour with older songs. I like the bad best when they also have horns but this is a great show and the guitar playing is strong!
I just watched this entire 1 & 1/2 hr video. Incredible footage from the Love You Live era. This is my favorite version of Honky Tonk Woman and You Gotta Move was fantastic!!! Thank you for the upload.
What a cookin version of Happy! I have to say, surprisingly, it took the band about 40 years to figure out they should close every show with Satisfaction. Not only did they not perform it here, they didn't play it the first time I saw them in 1999 in Cleveland either. Then in 2003 and every show since, including their latest tour which I saw them in June of 2024, they've always closed with Satisfaction.
Well, that´s actually not true. I saw them in 1982 and 1990 in Europe and Satisfaction was either the last song or the encore. The same holds true for the preceding US tours. They found out pretty late, that it is the perfect show closer, but played it ever since.
Satisfaction, CLE, in June, was fantastic! We were on the rail in Pit B and could see Mick up close. He was hilarious, throwing himself to the floor on hands and knees, all James Brown style. He was so much fun! Keith was a bit low energy in Cleveland. Hope he’s feeling better by now.❤
I was there too Pit B Utterly amazing how that 80 year old got up from his hands and knees more like an 8 year old child. Really incredible. It’s worth the watch.

It was filmed by french TV, maybe the best production for this era, such a good images and sound quality, Mick : "Vous voulez vraiment chantez avec nous?", Ouais !!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway actually there're technical solutions to improve the red saturation which was usual.
73 the best melodic live guitariste with Taylor in fire, 3 years aftet Ron, certainly a nice guy but most of time in his career he play more or less the same poor solo.
So (Daddy You're A) Fool to Cry must've been edited in. Costume change for Jagger so probably after the Billy Preston set. But jesus, Keith had just been informed earlier that day his infant son had died. He must have figured the show must go on. But his grief is going into his amazing guitar playing here
Fantastic performances indeed... too bad the medley IfYouCantRockMe/GetOffOfMyCloud is missing. They did a lot of overdubs for the album Love You Live but the songs here sound just as good. Anyway, it's about time for a proper official release, maybe along with a Black & Blue re-release incl. outtakes!

if this is about the love you live period, I was in 11th grade. Ronnie did a decent job but very big shoes to fill indeed. Some of the songs like Midnight Rambler are lacking the guitar virtuoso playing of Mick Taylor. The way Keith and Mick T. traded off leads was fantastic. Back when Taylor was there a lot more difference between lead guitar and rythem guitar. Some girls period had a lot of blending of the guitars, sounding like one instrument. As for lead playing Taylor was the greatest and made awesome contributions during Exile period. RIP Mick Taylor.
Great stage, worldwide attention, lots of local press when this circus rolled into town, however the Stones are now getting maximum attention at a time when they are oarless. Mick Taylor's departure left a void that was not really noticed at the time. The Stones had to reinvent themselves again with the addition of Ron Wood. But to try and hide this rudderless ship they also bring in Billy Preston and Ollie Johnston, and other players who are not the usual suspects in Bobby Keyes, Ian Stewart, etc. During this tour the Stones became complete jive. This will improve over time as Ronnie and Keith gel and a more traditional approach, though Ronnie's own unique version emerges in 1978 and Ronnie and Keith learn to chug along. It worked and still does. It was growing pains and no one's fault. The Stones were powerful and melodic with Taylor coming off their best 5 years. Taylor quits. These things take time to get right again.
I was at that concert. I was an absolute Stones fan. Watching the video of that atrocious concert I still want to puke. It was terrible, it looks even worse today. Billy Preston was the worst part of that miserable experience.
