I think the pony looks great, but I'm so sorry the result wasn't what you wanted. I really think that showing your struggles and mistakes is incredibly commendable and worthy of respect, though. 💜
Thank you so much 😊 I really appreciate this. It was tough to do the pony AND to do the video but I felt we could all learn from the things that didn't work well. And practice saying "today was not a good day. Tomorrow might be better". Luckily acrylics are easy to remove 😊
@@RetroGeekCrafts Honestly, it looked so great! I think you nailed it ♥ Sometimes if too close to a project, can feel it's not good enough, but I think you did a fantastic job.
Honestly, I really love how her mane turned out in the end! It's got a real "party" feeling to me. The restoration looks pretty good on a video, too, though I can see how in real life the transitional areas would be more obvious. But it's always good to see someone show their mishaps. It makes the craft feel more accessible, I think (like, 'Oh, maybe I could do something like this after all."). At the very least, it makes be want to buy curlers and at least try doing up my old ponies' hair.
Thank you so much 😊😊 I'm so sorry for the late reply. I love that you get a party feeling! That means it looks joyful, so that makes me happy 🥰 And of course you can do this! It's a wonderful hobby, really satisfying and you don't need much to start!
I've heard it said before and I'll echo it here; I really love and appreciate seeing people on UA-cam fail genuinely. It's humanizing and humbling to see. In today's world where everyone projects perfection, seeing people fail just brings back an air of authenticity and reality to life. So thank you! It's almost healing, in a way. Also thank you for the nice noises and soft music and your enchanting voice!
I think this pony turned out adorable!! I think she looks great, I love the tight curls and you did a great effort!! I think all that matters in the end is that the pony looks way better than it did before, And she does! Maybe she got a bit sunburnt after having fun in the sun too long in Argentina 😆😁😊 You still did a great effort! I'm looking forward to more pony restorations in the future! Thank you for still posting this video!
Oh my, Yisela. I started tearing up when I heard the mix of frustration and determination in your voice over restoring a toy with great meaning. I even saved a search for Argentinian Masquerade in some of my ebay/mercari searches. If I find one, I will send it your way. Hugs my dear, the pony looks damn good, even if it wasn't quite what was wanted in the minds eye.
Thank you so much for your message Brittany ❤️🥺 It was a tough process, and a personal struggle on some levels too. Luckily, this week I tried the winter pony which was a very low pressure custom and I really enjoyed the process. I feel much better now. This message means a lot, though. It makes me feel so lucky to be surrounded by such a kind community. Thank you again. And sorry for the super late reply, I had to take some time off after the difficult video and I'm catching up now.
@@RetroGeekCrafts It's okay! I saw the new video and the custom is absolutely lovely! I will keep my eyes peeled for a new Masquerade! If I find one, I will send it your way!
I think she turned out beautiful, but I can understand being frustrated when a project doesn't turn out like how you pictured in your head. Still, I especially like the tighter curls. Definitely gives a vintage 80's vibe!
As an artist I can relate to all these feelings of frustration and failure, especially in regards to projects you're really enthusiastic about. I really like that you decided to show us all the attempts and techniques you tried on it even though it wasn't what you were hoping for in the end. Experiences like this will definitely help you improve and grow in your craft, and your willingness to admit to what you feel are shortcomings is admirable. I think she looks a lot better than how she started and that shouldn't be forgotten. *Sending love from the US!*
Thank you so much for your message 😊😊 I agree, although I'm still a little bit sad with the result. But I learned a lot and got such amazing feedback from sharing the struggles. I am really grateful for this community. Sending love back 💕❤️
It's so important to see such a talented, skilled artist work through struggles and mistakes - first of all it's an excellent way to learn, and second of all it's fascinating to watch! Thank you for a great video!
I’d still call this a good restoration! I think you did the best you can considering argie ponie’s notorious difficulties with fading. I personally love the colors of the hair. She’s giving me 80’s birthday girl and I’m here for it 🤩
These are the my little pony I grew up loving, not those new ones that I dont think look anything like a pony. You do a great job restoring them big thumbs up to you.
I really like the mane and the colors, and I dont think the last result you did in the painting was half bad. I understand those are vintage items and you're trying to do perfect restoration, but in the end it's also your passion and they're just your beloved ponies. I absolutely love how the tail turned out and the ribbon you put on is adorable. It's important not to be too hard on yourself.
Masquerade Vintage looks Beautiful!!! You manage to get her colors right, fix up her hair, plus adding those bows look cute on her. I'm so happy she loves her new home with you. See you on your next video
(I'm so sorry for the delay in replying) Thank you so much for your message 🥰😊 I was a little frustrated but I loved how supportive everyone was so that felt really nice ❤️
i really like how she turned out! you asked for tail tips and while I haven't practiced this myself, maybe tying the hair sections like you do the full tail, but with string instead of the cable ties will make them appear as one? sort of like making a tassle! then you can thread the cable tie through all three (or however many!) colors and then tighten the other around those three as well. i hope i explained this!! i'll try simplifying my explanation below just in case! three colors of hair. take each color separately and tie them in the middles. then make a tassle by folding each over and tying each with a string to form a tassle. then pull them through together and then thread a single cable tie in place of those strings. then wrap a cable tie around all three together to form a large "tassle" as the full tail. this should allow you to fold them in half but keep them from doubling into two separate sections! i hope either of those made sense, let me know if i need to explain something further. i also hope it helps!
I'm so sorry for the delay in replying; UA-cam made me think I had already, but I think the connection fell and it got lost. Thank you so much for the tips!! I will try them for the next rainbow pony!! 😊😊❤️
I think she looks great! A tip about painting vinyl (or any surface): use an acrylic primer, sometimes called gesso, to create a surface to which paint will stick. Use one very thin layer, and allow it to dry completely (about an hour or two) before painting.
I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who looks for replacements for my old toys. I’ve recently found several of them, and they give me a lot of joy!
Definitely! Especially when you do repairs or even just a clean, you make the toy yours. I know it's not "my" pony but after everything we've been through together it's definitely closer 😊😊
I’ve done the same. Joy is a good word for it. It does make me happy. It makes others happy as well. I was able to find a couple of my sister & brothers favorite toys from our childhood in a thrift shop and restored them. I gave them to them this Christmas. They were a huge hit.
Actually I'm in a house move and just found my old Pony in one of the boxes in the basement. I didn't even know it was still there. It's still as pretty as back then.
Things don't always work out the way we want them to. Hope you're not too upset by this We are very grateful to you for the work you have done and the content that you create for us Keep up the good work :)
I love the curls and the ribbons, it's super cute! ❤ And oof I feel that frustration with trying to get the right color. This pony have a rather unique shade of pink too
These videos make me want to look out my old ponies. I know my mum still has at least some of my toy horses in a box in the attic, so I bet at least a couple of my G1 MLPs are still there.
I think she looks lovely! If you did want to try repainting her in the future, I would suggest adding a bit more orange or yellow to your pink paint in order to more closely match the pony's original colour! 💖
I think it looks great! The super colorful bright hair looks absolutely stunning! Your restoration videos have reignited my interest in collecting G1s and even restoring a few myself!
@@RetroGeekCrafts well, we learn a lot from watching your videos! I hope we'll learn together then how to eventually fix my Beddy-Bye baby's missing eye. 😉
I’m a big fan of your restoration videos and have been (attempting) to do my own restorations on my ponies, and this video reassures me that it’ll be alright if I make a mistake or two! Masquerade still looks beautiful to me, and I bet she appreciates the new look! :)
The pony looks really cute! I think those curls are absolutely adorable and I don't think that tail is a mess. I hate to hear though the project didn't quite go the right way. What I found that helps if you're not in the right frame of mind to do a project but want to do a project that has high stakes or is very important, is to do a mini project instead before focusing on the big task. So if you're writing on a novel but you're worried your dialogue might be bad or you're drawing and you just need a bit more practice with a concept, do a small writing prompt or a less advanced doodle. At the worst if you can tell the doodle doesn't look great or the writing isn't flowing very freely, you know it isn't a good day to do that high importance project. At the best you get some good practice and some good results for the mini efforts. I'm not sure how well this might apply to pony restoration, but I know it helps me when I'm drawing.
Thank you so much for your message 😊😊 (and I'm really sorry about the late reply). I think your advice is great. This week I decided to try a low pressure, more "free" project with the winter custom and I enjoyed it so much! Thank you again for our support ❤️
I think she looks great and I love your optimism and sense of humour which are essential when doing these things. I recently dyed my Lickety Splits tail too dark and am still trying to remedy the situation. Thank you for showing your mistakes as it makes me feel better too. Xxx
Thank you so much 😊😊 If you have hydrogen peroxide, you can use some on the tail and then put it under the sun (or UV light) and it should take some of the colour off!
Totally understand when projects feel they aren't going the way you want, however you gave her a MUCH better look, she's so vibrant she's stealing the spotlight, and almost new, she probably appreciated the spa treatments, the care, and love you gave, most would have thrown her away like trash. but You DIDN'T and now even if you say you're not the happiest with how she turned out Masquerade feels all new and fresh. Keep going, you did a really good job!
I'm very happy to follow a creator who lives in the UK like me! Even if we stole you from Argentina, which is mean of us. ;) I can confirm that the sunlight in December-January over here is... not very strong or plentiful, lol. I respect your honesty - you always show your mistakes and that must be WAY more helpful to new restorers than showing only perfection, so you're helping attract more people to this hobby.
I had some thoughts about the things you asked for feedback on. Please bear in mind that I have no restoration experience and these are just suggestions! - Keeping tail colours separate: can you tie each colour individually, the way you usually do the whole tail? Because they're already bunched separately thanks to the thread, maybe you could put one "sideways" cable tie around each colour and one single "middle" tie at the top around all three? - Difference in texture: I think I would try a very thin layer of clear coat or varnish - not enough to make the whole thing look shiny and lacquered, which would look weird, but a matte coating just thick enough to smooth out the differences. Either way, the pony won't feel like the original vinyl when you handle it, so it'd be down to your own preference for a consistent texture or not. I think it would at least look more consistent under the light this way. - Curling different colours: I think my personal taste would be to separate different colours onto different rollers, but since you blend the colours at the borders, that way lies madness, lol. Some single-colour and some two-colour ringlets would look fine! - Being displeased with the curling effect: embrace it! This Masquerade with her tight curls could be dressed in some star sunglasses and legwarmers and become Disco Masquerade. 8)
LOL Disco Masquerade 😂🥰 Loved it. Thank you so much for your message and for all the amazing tips!! I have to try them, I really appreciate you taking the time to write them down. Oh, and I love the UK; I'm really happy to be here (although I'm trying to get used to nighttime at 4 pm!!). I'm so glad you enjoyed the videos, mistakes and all 😊❤️
Seriously, this pony looks freaking AWESOME!!! I appreciate the work it took to get it to look like this and I think you are too hard on yourself. The pony looks great!!
Don't let the struggle discourage you! You always have the ability to take a second crack at it once you're ready and more confident! Honestly though, something to keep in mind is you may never be satisfied since it's such a cherished pony for you! Nostalgia will always skew your view of the result.
Thank you so much for your message 😊😊 This was a difficult repair but I'm happy to report thing got better after it. And I also like the pony a little more now ❤️
Honestly, I think the pony looks so much better, no matter what! Plus, the little imperfections here and there make it more unique and special to you because it has your own handiwork, care, and time put into it. Instead of a mistake, think of it as a happy little accident. :) You did an outstanding job! I hope you're proud of yourself! ❤️
I like how it turned up. I have like 45 ponys from my childhood, they are in very good condition but some need a hair replacement. For the tail I found a way to not double the colors. You need to fold the strands one next to the other before inserting the tail. Instead a tying all the strands together and then fold them, you fold them first separated, then you pass the cord for the loop and insert the tail.
@@RetroGeekCrafts Thank you,! I learnt how to replace or fix the hair from your videos. I'm still hesitant about painting the marks or the eyes, because I'm bad at drawing and painting.
I just found your channel and I love it! Me and my sister collect G1 and G3 ponies, i usually do the restoration and hairstyling. Thankfully the ponies i've encountered aren't as bad as the ones you're restoring, i usually just use acetone and wash the pony really well. They were such a big part of my childhood and it's lovely to see people restoring and collecting them
I hope things are truly better now!! We have to go through the lows to appreciate the highs! 🥰 I had a thought about keeping the tail colours together…. Complete the tail as you did, but after applying the zip tie, put another thread around the individual colours below the tie to bring them back together. Then a stainless steel washer (stainless steel will not rust!) to keep the additional threads in her body! Or another zip tie?! (I hope I explained that clearly ;) xoxo
Even though it didn't work out quite right, it still looks great. She definitely looks better than when she came to you and I know it's possible to restyle the hair if you decide to try again.
Even after all the bumps on the road I think you still managed to make her look more gorgeous than ever! I love her hair and the end result 😍🥰 Keep up the amazing work!! 💕💗
I love watching these kinds of videos , but whenever I see them it makes me want to grab one of my old ponies And try to do something similar to your work, I love your videos
You should definitely try, if you have a pony that needs repair! I learn by doing. Most things you can do are reversible don't be scared to try. It's a great hobby ☺️ Thank you so much for your message ❤️
For the mixing of tail colors have you considered tieing them a second time? Folding it in half then tieing it again, making a little loop at the top like you would for the full tail, but for each color then putting them together. I think that would have a result youre more happy with. On a side note, she turned out very cute! I know its not what you wanted but I really like the charm of those messy little curls! Keep up the fantastic work
You know, when I was younger and was playing with my ponies all the time, when I combed their hair, I was always scared of brushing too hard and pulling some out. But now, having bingewatched your channel for the past several hours, I'm realizing that if I pick up a few skills, I might not have to worry so hard. Plus I always had like a spare twilight (g4) that I always pretended was princess luna, so maybe I could actually turn her into luna someday. In short, your videos are really good and they're a great inspiration!
I think this pony was particularly hard to tackle with that level of staining. Given that, I think you did a really great job on it. I hope you can find another one someday (hopefully with less staining issues) so you can do a glow up that better satisfies you. It's really hard when you have that extra emotional attachment and want to get it all just right. You want to honor that positive memory, and that's a big deal.
Thank you so much 😊😊 I just finished the latest custom and I chose something very low pressure. I actually had a lot of fun so I'm happy to report my pony block is better ❤️ And I'm happy I have this pony, so that's good.
I know how rough it is trying to find the perfect (or as close to perfect) version of your childhood doll. I think if anything, the pony received a lot more love in your care than she has in a long time, so even if she's not where you want her to be, she's certainly better off. Hopefully when you revisit her in the future, you'll be a lot happier with the result.
My favorite my little pony as a kid was a scootaloo that has a bunch of details on the face , my brother buried her in the back yard and I found her four years later all faded and stuff . Still loved her.
I think your work is beautiful, I just wish to ask that you stop being so self-deprecating! Your delicacy, care, and attention to detail is head and shoulders above that of other restoration channels I watch. Please stop apologizing and being so hard on yourself!
I have the same problem with toys haha. I would suggest spraying her with a satin finish sealant, it makes the texture nice and uniform and looks and feels just like the original vinyl! And it can be removed with acetone- we all love a reversable medium
I don’t know if it’s my screen, but I think a hint of orange might have brought the colour closer to the original? Also, you can make looser curls by wrapping them around something thicker, like a thread spool or a cardboard tube. The best thing about pony hair is that you only need to wet, restyle, and dry if you’re not happy.
This is a really cute pony and I think the hair was definitely a win! I’m so sorry the materials were so tough to work with. I can totally imagine the frustration. The original restoration paint you mixed looks a little more magenta than the ponies color which has a bit of a coral/orange/red undertone. At least in the video that is what it seems. Recently I’ve seen someone use a very fine sand paper and even a wet sandpaper technique on toys to get the additional sculpt areas smoother. I’ve also seen techniques of painting where you do a couple of thin layers, let dry and do a very fine sanding to help smooth transition areas and repeat that a couple of times until the desired result. I know you’ve probably had tons of suggestions though and probably need a break from this pony but thought I would share. Loved watching this though and think sharing projects that help us all learn from these hiccups is important!
Oh! So I’m not sure I got out what my thought was. It was a video about a Polly Pocket restoration where they sanded off the sun damaged area with sand paper to very fine sand paper all the way to wet fine sand paper. Maybe something like that could help on this ponies mysterious spots but I know the materials are pretty different so who knows.
Thank you so much for your message 😊😊 I think an orange/yellow addition would have worked well because of the saturation. I also need to try the sandpaper trick, I hadn't heard of it until this video! (I'm so glad you share your tips with me). I remember that Polly Pocket video, it's quite awesome. Definitely a few things to try!!
I had no idea you lived in the UK! I knew you were from Argentina and still thought you probably lived over on that side of the Atlantic Ocean. I love watching you restore ponies.
I'm sorry it didn't turn out how you wanted, but it looks beautiful to me! In the case of discoloration, sometimes you have to repaint the whole pony and not sections. Another option would be to customize the pony with gradients on the hoofs/wings/snout, or extra cutie mark designs scattered on the body. You can use these to hide discolorations. I actually love the hair. It looks so festive and fun!
I know that I don't have the same nostalgic attachment to this pony that you do, but I think she still looks so much nicer than she did before! Sometimes art just doesn't come out the way you want it to, and all you can do is learn from it and do better next time. To be fair, this pony was seriously stained, and vinyl is awful to paint over! I always have that problem whenever I customize doll faces. You did the best you could, considering the extent of the damage. I think you did great!
When I need to fill in the gaps with additional material, and do not want textures to wary, I like to spray the surface (usually it's a doll torso or leg, but for pony it might just work too) with a couple of layers of glossy warnish spray thing, and then cover that with a very very matt warnish like Mr.superclear
I really love your content and I love watching your videos!! Don't stop recording this type of videos because it's amazing how the ponies turns into better ones. I'm going to watch it :) Love you, have a good day/night!!
I think for the retouching instead of trying to 'blend it out', you should try to limit the overpainting to just the area that is actively out of sync with the base color. The smaller the area of sheen mismatch, the less obvious the texture difference will be. If the end result paint is a good color match, but the paint is too glossy compared to the vinyl, try gently knocking down the gloss with ultra-fine sandpaper. If the paint is too matte, you can use a sealer to get the right sheen on top of the paint. In any case, I think it's a good idea to address the sheen and color separately, since it's almost too much to expect you to get a good color and texture match in one step, not without a huge amount of trial and error, anyway.
MLP was never about perfection, it was about the love and enjoyment from a child that was put into the toys. She was well enjoyed (from her wear and tear) and now she is again well loved, what more could a pony want? Alot of ponies I kept from my childhood have black marks on their hooves, it came from my mom and me writing with markers my initials onto the ponies so when I took them to school/daycare it showed they where mine. It upset me at first but really it just shows who was my favorites and was most loved lol.
i'm so sorry she didnt turn out the way you wanted! i think she looks amazing, and i'm actually partial to those kinds of curls :^) i think they're so cute and add character! i'm not the best restorer, and often make the mistake of thinking i can do more for a pony than i realistically can. i've often received a pony with high expectations for the restoration process only to come away from it disappointed. i imagine that feeling is so much worse when it comes to a rare/sentimental pony! :^( what ultimately makes it worth it to me is knowing that there was love, care and time put into restoring a pony that would have possibly otherwise not received any! anyways, i love your channel, and i can't wait to see what else you have in store! thanks for making such amazing, inspiring videos!
Thank you so much 😊😊 You're really nice. I had the HIGHEST expectations for this pony, after waiting years to find one. I had also been so lucky with peroxide so far, it's dealt with everything I've thrown at it (or smeared it in, to be precise). I'm very glad you liked the curls, thanks again for your message 😊
I'm really thankful for the alerts before the head comes off. For some reason I dislike seeing doll heads removed. It's fine when they're together or separate but the act of removing it, something with the motion bothers me so it's nice to get a warning so I can close my eyes for a quick moment. I have PTSD and that might be connected and you're the only doll person that gives a warning and it's just really nice. Means I don't get startled. Thanks!
I'm really glad you find them useful! I'm sorry you get startled by the image (please don't want the first videos!! They don't have warnings and I was quite careless with how I took the heads off!). Sending you love 💕☺️
i don't know if anyone else suggested this, but perhaps you could try using an airbrush to paint over the miliput filler? it would probably blend the textures better than a brush could, but it would require more making off. if you're going to try to revisit this restoration in the future, maybe give it a shot!
I definitely need to try an airbrush! I just need a workspace that allows it, my current one is not ideal. But it's in the future, for sure! Thank you for the tip ☺️☺️
I know its frustrating to have to get it to perfection, but possibly taking a break from it for a few days can help fight the frustration. Color matching is hard but also trying to match something that has that odd transparent/jelly plastic look is even harder. I think either repainting the whole pony would result in the best way to go, but I do agree with keeping them as authentic as possible so in the end it might be best to weigh the options. The mane looks amazing, and the tail is super cute. If you want to keep them separate to curl possibly tie each color separately before putting them together and stringing it through. Keep up the great work! No matter the outcome I'm sure we all love everything you do :3 I love watching your videos 💜
Thank you so much for your message 😊😊 This week (I just uploaded the latest video) I decided to just do a custom, kind of "with things I feel like doing". Lower pressure. I've been uploading one restoration a week and it's become a little more difficult lately. But I loved working on this latest one so I'm happy to report I feel MUCH better now!
Those curls ROCK!!! She may not be the result you expected, and I totally understand the hopes you had in a sentimental project, but she turned out so great! Happy little accidents happens, like Bob Ross always said. 🦄
As artist's we have certain expections with a project. Try to be kind to yourself when you don't get the desired result you wanted. I think the pony looks awesome! And for the tail on keeping colours separate. With the thread wrap length then take another bit and make a small loop (like a mini lasso) so you can use your zip tie both ways. Do that for all three colours to keep them separate. My husband suggested it when I rehaired my pony's tail. I used smaller zip tie because of three mini loops. I hope that makes sense...It does work even if it sounds dumb.
One thing to maybe consider in the future (not that I think she looks bad but fantastic!) is when professionals restore old paintings. They will only paint what they absolutely have to and then it is in flat colors so as not to add themselves into the paintings and to make it easy for future restores and museums to change in the future when science improves materials and techniques. Now I am not saying that future generations are going to restore your restorations (maybe?) but for yourself, if some thing is not working out cut yourself some slack and only paint what you have to. It wont be distracting to anyone but you or really nit picky people and that way if you want to give it another go in the future (better matching colors for example? Or paint with a different consistency? Maybe try adding a tiny touch of baking powder to take the gloss out?) It is easy for you to see what needs to change. Lovely work as always!
You're absolutely right, thank you for your words. I follow a channel you might know, Baumbarten. Of course these ponies are not art pieces but I still love the philosophy. When I mentioned overlpainting I was thinking of this. I considered leaving the "scar" lighter... But then the next day I would look at it and think "I can mix that colour!" so I kept going back to it over and over. But I think you're right. I will think about it and decide a path for Masquerade. Thank you so much 😊😊
I think the pony looks great, but I'm so sorry the result wasn't what you wanted.

Oh my, Yisela. I started tearing up when I heard the mix of frustration and determination in your voice over restoring a toy with great meaning.
Thank you so much for your message 😊😊 An 80s vibe definitely sounds good!
(I'm so sorry for the delay in replying) Thank you so much for your message 😊❤️ I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I’d still call this a good restoration! I think you did the best you can considering argie ponie’s notorious difficulties with fading. I personally love the colors of the hair. She’s giving me 80’s birthday girl and I’m here for it 🤩
(I'm so sorry for the delay in replying) Thank you so much 😊😊 I think a 80s vibe is a great thing, Sothis makes me happy!
I'm so happy
she loves her new home with you.
Hope you're not too upset by this
We are very grateful to you for the work you have done and the content that you create for us
Keep up the good work :)
I appreciate that, thank you so much 😊😊 I really appreciate you accompanying me in the good and the not-so-good.
I love the final pony!!! The curly hair looks so cute and fun!!
the different shades of pink on the body makes it feel so skin like and alive
This is one of your best videos. I think this pony really appreciated your efforts and felt really happy in the end. Thank you so much
Thank YOU so much 😊 I'm really glad you liked it!
she turned out so cute! I really like how the hair looks, it just feels like the wind moved through it, as if she had been running. so adorable!!
Thank you so much 😊😊
I think the first restoration was just fine!!! But mistakes are how we learn and grow, so don’t feel too discouraged!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You're right! Thank you for your message 😊😊
I love the curls and the ribbons, it's super cute! ❤ And oof I feel that frustration with trying to get the right color. This pony have a rather unique shade of pink too
Thank you so much 😊😊 Colour matching is so difficult. I'd be very curious to know who decided on that pink! Not your usual MLP colour for sure!
These videos make me want to look out my old ponies. I know my mum still has at least some of my toy horses in a box in the attic, so I bet at least a couple of my G1 MLPs are still there.
(I'm so sorry for the delay in replying) Thank you so much 😊😊 Ii hope you can find them!!
I LOVE the intense curly hair!
She looks absolutely gorgeous in my opinion!
I think she looks lovely! If you did want to try repainting her in the future, I would suggest adding a bit more orange or yellow to your pink paint in order to more closely match the pony's original colour! 💖
That's a good idea, I think it would have brought up the saturation and work quite well. Thank you for the tip and for the message 😊😊
I think your pony looks sooo much better than before you started. Thanks so showing that even you can have problems achieving your desired result.
Thank you so much 😊😊
I think it was a lovely restoration, but I understand the frustration of a project not turning out how you wanted.
Thanks for showing us!
I think it looks great! The super colorful bright hair looks absolutely stunning!
Your restoration videos have reignited my interest in collecting G1s and even restoring a few myself!
Thank you! 😊 That's great! Congratulations on restarting your collecting and trying restoration! It's a great hobby 😊
We LOVED the end result. Don't be so hard on yourself, to us, you are an expert and so talented! 😍
Thank you so much 😊 I'm most definitely NOT an expert, just a pony enthusiast learning a lot 😁
Thank you so much 😊😊 It's great to read you're doing restorations too! It's a great hobby ❤️
That first after is really beautiful!!! I love how her hair is curled, actually ❤❤
Thank you so much 😊😊 I'm really glad you liked it!
@@RetroGeekCrafts Oooh thanks so much, I’ll give that a try! Xx
Honestly the brightening of the skin made such a wowing difference, everything else became forgivable! She got new life✨✨
Thank you 😊😊 Really glad you enjoyed it!
Wow. What an incredible transformation! So well done! ❤
Sometimes our work doesn’t turn out what we wanted, but it makes your pony much more unique and special in my eyes.
Thank you so much for your message 😊❤️
Totally understand when projects feel they aren't going the way you want, however you gave her a MUCH better look, she's so vibrant she's stealing the spotlight, and almost new, she probably appreciated the spa treatments, the care, and love you gave, most would have thrown her away like trash. but You DIDN'T and now even if you say you're not the happiest with how she turned out Masquerade feels all new and fresh. Keep going, you did a really good job!
Thank you so much 😊😊 That's a great way to look at it. I think I need to be a little more optimistic, you're right that she got another chance!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the videos, mistakes and all 😊❤️
She looks beautiful! I love watching your channel. I have never seen a bad pony yet!
It looks so beautiful! I think that this one turned out to be one of the best. It’s not bad at all!
Thank you so much 😊😊
Even if she didn't turn out perfect, I think she still looks way better than how she started! I adore her!
Thank you so much 😊😊
I think the tight curls are adorable! The ribbons really add to it too
My favorite my little pony I had was. My Little Pony Generation 1 - Baby Surprise - Twin Milkweed and Tumbleweed. They came with a stroller.
I love the result! I like the curls very much! 😍😍 You did great!
Thank you 😊😊
Love the color palette of this pony, good name choice for her.
Me too 😊😊
Seriously, this pony looks freaking AWESOME!!! I appreciate the work it took to get it to look like this and I think you are too hard on yourself. The pony looks great!!
Thank you so much 😊❤️
Don't let the struggle discourage you!
And I also like the pony a little more now ❤️
I love the curls! Gives her a wild party vibe
Hehe thank you 😊😊
Honestly, I think the pony looks so much better, no matter what!
That sounds like a really nice collection! Thank you so much for the tip, I'm going to try that! ☺️☺️
@@RetroGeekCrafts Thank you,! I learnt how to replace or fix the hair from your videos. I'm still hesitant about painting the marks or the eyes, because I'm bad at drawing and painting.
You are so hard on yourself, she looks wonderful! I'd be super pleased haha. But thank you for sharing your learning! :)
Thank you so much 😊😊
I just found your channel and I love it! Me and my sister collect G1 and G3 ponies, i usually do the restoration and hairstyling. Thankfully the ponies i've encountered aren't as bad as the ones you're restoring, i usually just use acetone and wash the pony really well. They were such a big part of my childhood and it's lovely to see people restoring and collecting them
Welcome!! Thank you so much for your message 😊 Acetone is so great, it can break down almost any marks. I'm really glad you are enjoying the videos!
Muchas gracias!! Voy a probar ☺️☺️
I understand your frustration, but I think she looks lovely! You put a lot of love into her, and that's what matters. :)
Thank you so much 😊😊
It still looks beautiful and I love the curls as they are. You did a great effort and didn't give up. 👏 👍👍
Thank you so much 😊😊
Even though it didn't work out quite right, it still looks great. She definitely looks better than when she came to you and I know it's possible to restyle the hair if you decide to try again.
Thank you so much 😊😊
Her curls are absolutely adorable 💕
Thank you 😊😊
Even after all the bumps on the road I think you still managed to make her look more gorgeous than ever! I love her hair and the end result 😍🥰 Keep up the amazing work!! 💕💗
Thank you so much 😊😊
I know you didn't like them but those tight curls were so precious in the end!🐎💖
Thank you so much 😊😊
Whatever pony is pretty, good luck with painting!
Thank you 😊😊
I love watching these kinds of videos , but whenever I see them it makes me want to grab one of my old ponies And try to do something similar to your work, I love your videos
You should definitely try, if you have a pony that needs repair! I learn by doing. Most things you can do are reversible don't be scared to try. It's a great hobby ☺️ Thank you so much for your message ❤️
I just love your sense of humour! The pony turned out great!
Thank you so much 😊😊
For the mixing of tail colors have you considered tieing them a second time? Folding it in half then tieing it again, making a little loop at the top like you would for the full tail, but for each color then putting them together. I think that would have a result youre more happy with. On a side note, she turned out very cute! I know its not what you wanted but I really like the charm of those messy little curls! Keep up the fantastic work
She is so beautiful! I love the extra curly hair too 😍
You know, when I was younger and was playing with my ponies all the time, when I combed their hair, I was always scared of brushing too hard and pulling some out.
I think it looks REALLY good. I like the curly mane!
I think the pony looks so beautiful and unique!! And besides I really love the way you say "pony"...sounds so cute ❤!!
Thank you so much for your lovely message 😊😊
My favorite my little pony as a kid was a scootaloo that has a bunch of details on the face , my brother buried her in the back yard and I found her four years later all faded and stuff . Still loved her.
Ohhh that's great that you found her, though! Maybe you can give restoration a try 😊
@@RetroGeekCrafts is it possible to commission you somehow?
I think your work is beautiful, I just wish to ask that you stop being so self-deprecating! Your delicacy, care, and attention to detail is head and shoulders above that of other restoration channels I watch. Please stop apologizing and being so hard on yourself!
I have the same problem with toys haha. I would suggest spraying her with a satin finish sealant, it makes the texture nice and uniform and looks and feels just like the original vinyl! And it can be removed with acetone- we all love a reversable medium
I didn't try the sealant! That might have corrected the shine, you're right! Thank you for the tip ☺️
You're right! Orange would have helped. Thank you for your tips, I hadn't thought about the cardboard 😊😊
I left a long time ago but I try to visit frequently 😊 I love the UK, though, always have and I think always will!
every time i see in an english video argentina being mentioned or appearing somewhere my heart gets filled with happiness AJXSDUWDXLSOS
yes this applies even if the person who made the video is from argentina or any latam country
I'm sure the pony appreciated the effort into making her beautiful again.
I hope so! Thank you 😊😊
I'm sorry it didn't turn out how you wanted, but it looks beautiful to me!
Thank you so much for your message and the tip! I should try that, it's a great idea! 😊😊 I'm very glad you enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much for your message 😊😊 You're very nice!
I'm going to watch it :)
Love you, have a good day/night!!
Thank you so much 😊😊 I'm so glad you enjoyed the video 🥰
Yes, I think you're very right 😊😊 I never thought of using the fine sandpaper on the paint, I have to try that! Thank you so much for your tips!!
Despite everything, this pony still looks really good to me. A massive improvement over how it was in the beginning.
Thank you 😊😊
MLP was never about perfection, it was about the love and enjoyment from a child that was put into the toys.
Thank you so much for your message and for sharing your pony memories 😊
i'm so sorry she didnt turn out the way you wanted! i think she looks amazing, and i'm actually partial to those kinds of curls :^) i think they're so cute and add character!
i'm not the best restorer, and often make the mistake of thinking i can do more for a pony than i realistically can. i've often received a pony with high expectations for the restoration process only to come away from it disappointed. i imagine that feeling is so much worse when it comes to a rare/sentimental pony!
Thank you so much. And YES, Bob was right, I have to see it that way 😊😊
no sabía que eras de argentina! que lindo tu canal, me lleno de nostalgia, pero en una buena manera. Saludos!
Even though it's not perfect, this is still a great improvement! I really loved the voluminous curls you gave this pony. Very fun!
Thank you so much 😊😊
Te quedó hermoso el pony, saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷💕
I got hooked on your channel 💕✨ it's really good to watch, I always end up being calm watching you restore these ponies 💕
Thank you so much!! I'm really glad to read this 😊😊
As artist's we have certain expections with a project.
(I'm so sorry for the delay in replying) Thank you so much for your message 😊❤️ And for your tips! I will give it a try on the next rainbow mane!
Love your restorations, beautiful work.
Thank you so much 😊😊
One thing to maybe consider in the future (not that I think she looks bad but fantastic!) is when professionals restore old paintings.
