  • We've been asked about the S2000 Shifter rebuild several times. Folks have had issues installing the shifter rebuild we sell in the store.
    He's a fool proof way to install the parts. I hope this makes it easier.

    The shifter rebuild is 100% one of most satisfying DIY jobs you can do to your S2000. I used the guide you made a few years ago, so thanks for reminding everyone how straightforward it is to complete 👍👍. PS that Apex Blue CR is beautiful, looking forward to seeing you guys working on it 👍.

      @@tedwhite5197 I’ve been sorry about it for 3 years. Bought a mint 2004 with 46k miles on it in 2017, supercharged it. Hated the kraftwerks kit and wish I had gone turbo. Sold it to buy my now wife a $13k engagement ring and planned on buying another one stock and putting the science of speed turbo kit on there. Then kids came along.

    i just did the master rebuild on my car, what a difference. Only question is the spring, is there a top or bottom? I don’t remember what way i put it back in (if it matters). To get it into reverse it goes down about half of what it used to before the rebuild. Is that just because of the new spring compared to the old worn out one?

    My first car was almost a s2000 CR. But living in florida I ended up going for a car with AC. and sadly no, it wasnt a regular s2000

    Just took that foam piece out and it was falling apart bit by bit. Looked like a ball of tar once I collected it all. Will be ordering a new one soon.

    John, is there another method you’d recommend for getting the two plastic parts off the shifter without using a vice grip? Thx for what you and your team do!

      Honestly, I grab it with my hands and it pops off. I have pretty strings hands as I’ve done this kind of thing all my life. I often forget not everyone does and wanted to show a fool proof way. Either way, the parts get trashed so it not a big deal how you remove them.

    Will this solve changing gears from 1 to 2 notchiness/grind? And at times 3 to 4? It's so annoying. I live in the PNW with Gear300 fluid.

    • @LHTPerformance
      @LHTPerformance  2 місяці тому +1

      This is essentially takes out the looseness in the shifter. The naughtiness is internal. We’ve tried several different fluids to help out. Unfortunately it is the nature of the S2000 transmission. We have used Royal purple sync, mesh, and had good luck. Others have used other different fluids and had experience similar to hours.

    Can you put the shifter in the freezer or dry ice to contract the metal?

    • @LHTPerformance
      @LHTPerformance  Рік тому

      That’s not necessary , we’re not trying to shrink the metal. Just make the plastic ball more flexible.
