I sold for Honda in 2001-2003... the S2000 redlines at over 9000rpm and the vtech opens up around 4500rpm. My favorite part about the S2000 is that is is balanced front to back so it doesn’t over-steer and it doesn’t under-steer it just grips the road and if it loses traction all four wheels lose traction equally which makes it very easy to correct and feels easy to control even when it’s out of control.

I love Scotty's passion and charisma for cars. He is The last of a dying breed I wish there were more mechanics is honest as he is out there in the country. But unfortunately in the day and age that we live in it seems like when it comes to auto mechanics everybody's a bunch of thieves. I understand people have overhead but people just mark up stuff way too much. I'm all about people making a profit but my God I mean when you completely have to rip people off in order to run a business you might as well just leave the business. If I was a young guy today becoming an auto shop teacher I would be playing his videos to my classroom every time he uploaded one. These are a good teaching tool for young mechanics coming up in the business. Hopefully his passion and honesty would rub off on future mechanics that are up and coming and hopefully the future will have more honest people in the auto field. He is a role model for future mechanics.

This was a good car. It died due to weak economy in 2008. It was a great track car and plenty of after market kits. Harleys had a waiting list at the same time. It is unfortunate, but people are buying and paying to much. The market is expected to decline in the future. The car companies need to realize that car prices are to high.

S2000 was introduced in 1999. By 2008 it’s had a 10-years production run. For a sports car that’s an eternity. While Honda kept making minor adjustments on the S2000 almost every model year, in the end it just wasn’t competitive anymore. Everyone who wanted one new and can afford it already gotten one, and the used S2000 prices were reasonable. S2000’s sales were in steady decline for years before Honda called it quits. The market crash came in late 2008 while Honda announced that MY2008 was the last year when they switched production in late summer/early fall of 2007.

When I was working at Harbor City Honda back in 2001, the finance guy there asked me if I had millions and could have any car I wanted, what would I get. I said the S2000 because it was everything it ought to be and the price tag was nowhere near what other cars in that class of driving would cost. Why pay more? That thing is light as a cardboard box, tiny enough for me to push it myself as a 5'2 130lb female. The interior is so tight around the driver it almost feels like a little claustrophobic or like a cockpit of a fighter jet, like the car is wrapped around you.
When I got into it, the very first thing I noticed was the tachometer on the dash because it was so BLACK! It didn't have a line of red color tracing the right side of the gauge the way other cars did. It was like a minimalist clock, uniform empty space between the numbers indicating rpm. I finally realized it looked odd to me because the thing had just the tiniest segment all the way at the right that was barely there to indicate where the engine would "red line". Where most cars had red areas that were at least the whole last quarter or a third of the gauge that didn't even go higher than 7 or 8k, the red line on the S2000 STARTED at 9,000 rpm and only a tenth of the total range, which we couldn't even sample half of on the freeway. It's a beast, and it's beautiful to look at, too. I really enjoyed the one test drive I took someone on in it, but it was the fastest lap of that route I ever took!
And even today, should I ever make the kind of money to buy a car that is my dream vehicle, it's STILL the early S2000. If you ever see me behind the wheel of that sleek little silver two seater, know that I probably could have bought a really expensive flashy piece of ridiculousness that usually appeals to men in middle age, but that practical beast is my dream car, and yes, it will probably cost me a fortune to get one now, especially after people see this video!

I've had the pleasure of driving these once and it lives in the 10k rpm's. That engine performs outstandingly at 13,000 rpm's when that power band kicks in and the sound is intoxicating, as it the feel of the short gear shifter that has that satisfying soft, yet pronounced feel as you go through the gears.

Scotty I just brought back out a 2014 3.7 Mustang that sat for 9 months of Canadian winter
This is the 4th year it sat out for winter despite having a set of snow tires stored ... started it up after recharging the battery it runs like it did 5 years ago still today it was bought new but no car runs like it was brand new ... but it only has 115,000 kilometers and the sound from the engine and exhaust makes you forget other pretenders. This Mustang has a very short turning circle so cornering is fun but 2nd gear in this 6 speed really moves this old sled ... plus running in 6th gear can be done at interstate speed burning only 9 liters of gas per 100 kilometers...I love your bits

The S2000 isn't about raw acceleration, but as far as totally immersive driving experiences go, it is pretty hard to beat. Not only does the engine love to rev, but it is connected to one of the best shifting manual transmissions ever made. The engine and transmission reside in a great handling, small car with the classic FR configuration. The S2000 demands your involvement to get the best out of it, but that's the beauty of this car. It rewards you for your involvement time and again. It's a sports car, pure and simple - a great one at that.
That doesn't mean the S2000 is for everyone. Plenty of drivers don't enjoy winding out their engines and don't like shifting so much. Many want more torque and/or transmissions allowing them to use their fingers to shift instead of their hand and feet. That's alright as there aren't enough S2000's to go around for those who want them these days anyway

I got into Hondas about 2 years ago, and for the money, you can't beat the power you can get out of these things. I came across a complete k 20 setup out of a wrecked car, so I put the b20 on the back burner. I can simply drop that k20 in and have the same power I planned to have with the k20 after mods.
