Overall, in my opinion, the 2024 E53 supersedes the 2024 BMW 5 Series. For the first time, this machine looks mean, fun, and solid.

@@mortib5968 not that impressive in current times. 5 years ago yeah but you’ve got 35k MGs and Volvo’s as fast as that.

@@mortib5968 maybe. But in the scheme of cars as a whole, the 0-60 is not a standout. Not much quicker than a 2.0 inline 4 turbo hot hatch like the S3 or Golf R, and similar to the much cheaper/lighter 3.0 BMW M340i. We don’t even know how that weight is going to transfer to handling yet either. The laws of physics are hard to argue with.

Why are cars getting heavier and more power needed to compensate for it.... A bit of an oxymoron!
Better for the environment. You can keep having your fun in a performance car, but can also benefit from reduced emissions. I am all for it.

@@TrueLeadership777 I own a PHEV (Volvo S60 T8) and I manage to drive a lot fully electrically. You can blame the user if they don't charge their car at all. But even then, it still works as a full hybrid and reduces your consumption. My car has like 35 km electric-only range. This has around 90 in real-world conditions. I see plug-ins as a great middle-ground.
@@Metal4everYAY Yes agree....but my diesel would get better mileage, no extra weight for tires, less damage on the road surface, cheaper to buy, less breakdown but not good for environment.... I had a BMW i8 and it broke down because of battery and electric motor failure... It was passed warranty and they wanted €24.000 to replace the parts.
@@TrueLeadership777 I agree with your perspective too. It's of course entirely a matter of trade-offs. And it's tough to make a decision either way. I am sorry to hear you had such trouble with your i8 :(.

What's the problem?? Great (sounding) engine. But every new car needs a custom exhaust and fake sound delete.
