Never knew I needed LA Knight to help me set Universe Mode up 💀
I don’t know why rivals have to face each other every week. This needs overhauled. Yes there’s the occasional switch. But the whole point is to build to a PPV. I love the rival actions. But there needs to be better story telling options.
That's what I am saying myself man! There should be more things to do besides just having matches each week. For example, they can add options like adding promos, backstage interviews, special match conditions (i.e #1 contender, retirement, i quit). The AI next year needs to be all around smarter. By that, I mean that if add promos like for example Seth calls out Roman Reigns then next week they should have a match vs each other. And they need to put less focus on rivalries. That's why having automatic rivalries off can help out to reduce it. Seems like most times when I let the AI do it, I get high intensity most times.
Promos
It's not a bad idea, gives it an attitude era esque feel really, if you was around to see that era the top rivals were fighting every week mostly put in tag matches though so they got to give the fans a chance to see a taster before the ppv, sometimes they'd have them fight it out and the heel would cheat the babyface out of the match almost instantly
They need promos intro interference
None of those things have ever really worked properly. The promos were particularly awful, they made no sense at all.
@@joer3720 it still was better than nothing and if u didn’t like em u didn’t have to use em less options is usally bad no matter what
I feel like they can add a handful of promo cutscenes to the existing rivalry system by simply adding a Promo tab on the list of options.

This is a perfectly timed video especially with the draft coming up as I and I’m sure others will be going back to create new universe mode saves. Excellent job as always.
It's interesting to me how you guys play Universe Mode. To me Universe mode is my Universe. I handle everything, meaning I edit all the matches and play out stories in my head D&D style. I don't care what the AI sets up for me because I'm going to delete all of it anyways.
Today I've had a crazy idea, I've downloaded a Custom World Heavyweight Championship the one Triple H introduced on Raw this week and I'm going to make that the world title for my Raw Brand. The Universal Title will be the World title for my Smackdown brand.
The WWE Championship will be available for both brands to compete for. Defended only on the four big PPVs, that title will have quarterly tournaments on both brands where the winners will face each other for the no 1 contender spot.
I'l be bringing back brand specific PPVs to showcase their specific World Titles but the main price to get will have to be the WWE championship. Of course I'm going to change the WWE belt to something that looks better but my Universe will have two brand specific world titles and one Company Specific Coveted WWE Title.
See your the man! I do the same, only gripe I have is game crashes when I have a title match... Lol

I run all three shows as if I’m in real time the only real differences I make is adding my superstar in the game and putting him in judgment day ima ride out wit that for a season then have him do a face turn but other than that I just run shows similar to wat happening in real life but wit my ending decision Cody had da belt for 7 months lost to a returning drew asuka beat Bianca rhea is on a 15 match win streak as champ all members of judgment day have a belt bloodline are feuding wit themselves with rikishi and the rock and Sami and ko have da raw belts and nxt Tyler bates is champ bron been holding Wes lee title hostage
I liked to set exactly how long would be each rivalry. I usually don't make rivalries that take more than one PPV, and is awkward to delete every rivalry after a PPV because it haven't ended automatically
After the 1.08 patch I'm seeing them end if you let them be set to auto. I tried simming several months and there were mixes of rivalries, some new, some from the month before. None went more than 2 months though. It was the best I've seen it run in years.
Trying it without simming now but I don't get a lot of time to play so that is taking longer to confirm.
I would like for them to let me have a rivalry without having them face off in an actual match till the PPV

I think you can do that, lot of tweaking and editing yourself
@@ThePasindu anytime I don’t have them in a match together it says No rivalry under the match card
@Yo_LBC13 the way I do it is, I place them say Randy vs Cena, then I edit the Rival actions in the match card, so it's something like a face to face, entrance distraction, champions attack, tag team co-existing, stuff like that don't have them in one on one against each other but maybe random matches but with the cutscene with each other, and then only have the actual match at the PLE, I also edited the PLES to be at the end of each month. There's still glitches everywhere, especially in the rivalry system. Dunno whether they will fix all of them, I try to go around and make things work as possible.
@@ThePasindu I’ve tried doing something similar. The only downside I’ve experienced is that then someone I don’t want them fighting is inserted into the match at random. Like say it’s an interference and they will make the opponent Brock lesnar on a episode of raw
The worst part of the rivalries is still that they last forever and the two guys have like 30 matches against each other
Edit: people saying I’m wrong that it’s only 6-7 matches max is the point I’m making. I didn’t really mean 30 matches I was just throwing an outrageous number out there. 6-7 matches is still not realistic, as much as the real WWE does it

i dont know why your complanin about that honestly lol its pretty accurate within the real WWE, how many times have randy orton and cena fought each other? or taker and edge and etc..
@@TreyMessiah95 those are rare occasions, with a typical one-off rivalry they will most likely have 1-2 matches on weekly shows and some matches on ppv but nothing more, you are talking about very specific situations like cena and orton which is not what JR is concerned about
Also they only last until the end of an ple. Unless you have no PLEs in your universe they only last that long. So at most 6 or 7 matches. And beyond that to increase the length of the rivalry there's a rival action that would extend the rivaly until the next PLE
Rivalries (at times) if you set it up with a champion and a challenger doesn’t always put the title on the line. Keep in mind I’m writing this at Patch 1.12.
Happens still to me at patch 1.17
Some what realistic cause in the past rivals would have some mid week matches no title on line
Is it not because of Divisions? I did some messing with divisions and it *usually* fixes it.
Like per say, if the Miz is in a world title rivalry but in the intercontinental division it wouldn't put him in a world title match despite the rivalry being there
@@elkennedy1472 I don’t put anyone in the divisions. Those I thought really never mattered.
@@Philouimette_ perhaps it could be why, however yeah, my women are all in the same division without issue, I only experience it with men's single/world titles . All in all 2k is riddled with bugs so I could be wrong 😂
2K needs an option to let you choose a wrestler as a referee wearing the referee uniform.

biggest problem for me is the game will randomly make tag teams even breaking up current teams or teams you yourself have made. My current tag champs are Jimmy Uso & Gunther😂😂

I decided to do a NXT Universe, 3 shows, b&g NXT ran by me, NXT UK ran by my friend/co-host, and Women of NXT. We have a semi brand split with certain stars being co-branded.
We have 10 men's championship (we have one world Champion shared, the NA title is exclusive to b&g, the UK, & UK tag titles are exclusive to nxt uk, and we share a CW, and TV titles)
The women have 4 titles, the NXT Women's World Title, and 2 mid-card titles, NXT Goddess Championship, and NXT UK Women's Championship, and the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships.
Assemble this video was super helpful for me to learn the ropes (pun intended) of universe mode in 2k23. I started playing universe mode recently but I learned a lot more thanks to this video. The only pet peeve I have about this year's universe mode, is that there should more things that you can add for each shows except only matches.
This is so helpful and I agree and did alot of the stuff you did. Obviously we just have to wait on the title swaps with the Bianca or see what they do Monday. So much going on and this mode is my fav. This is alot of FUN!!!!
I do this all the time when I start a new universe, only downside to it is that it’s very time consuming

What I do for two-night events is that I just put it for next week (for example WrestleMania night one is week one for April and night two is for week 2 of April)
One big and annoying glitch in Universe Mode is that even after the update the changes in pin-minigames and finisher impact are not transported into Universe Mode regularly. So instead if having an epic match the pinflag is being thin after a few moves, so its hard to kick out after one finisher...
Love your videos and greatly appreciate them. I share very common styles with u as I'm from the attitude era as well. I like switching guys around and also switching the tag titles. I put the old ones with the red in em for Raw and the old tag titles with the blue in em for Smackdown. The Big Gold Belt is the GOAT!!! I like the idea of a woman's I.C. title and possibly a U.S. woman's as well. I still set up a ton of different style elimination matches for the added drama to keep things interesting. I know im late asf, but the last time i played universe mode was back when i had SvR 2011. But i tried to play universe mode in WWE 2K23 and i was so confused bc its nothing like it was back then, but i played GM Mode and thought that it was more like the old Universe Mode.
Ya I’m finding I like mygm a little more if they beef it up next year I might play it more than universe
I like the stats universe mode has like how long someone been champ or held girls n stuff. My gm just needs more match types, amount bodies per match, n longer seasons, you can keep going forever n fans n stats carry over except the budget it gets renewed. But everything else popularity if stars n stuff, but to be full 52 weeks per season not 25 it’s too quick. But I do like the management aspect n being able to play any match unless there’s an interference. Or simulate or rig matches anyways so they win during the simulation. @@AssembleShow

What i wanna know is how come everytime i do a rivalry with the champion the championship is not on the line wassup with dat i wanna know how to start a rivalry championship with the champion all i get is just the regular rivalry this is very frustrating 😤
If you have a rivalry with a Champion it garuntees those 2 will wrestle every single week automatically. I'd suggest setting ur no.1 contender in division and they'll get there title shot at PPVs rather then on a Raw or Smackdown which rarely happens anyway

You should be able to predetermine the winners of matches and that can affect how the crowd reacts to the show
I would LOVE some kinda notifier on the character selection screen which show, if any, their already assigned to. I know it's on the actual character pages, but when I'm mass adding rosters, I don't want to have to write it down.
Is anyone having issues with tag team rivarlies? I keep getting random superstars in tag teams.
Actually what you just did was bug out universe mode by changing sd to another day.
One thing that ruins Universe mode is how with certain rivalry actions you can't pick who they face in third party situations its really immersion breaking when have Brutus Creed involved in a blood feud between Rollins and Reigns its so stupid apparently its something to do with power rankings but its not clear how it works and sometimes it always picks somebody who is in a completely different division.
After the recent update I’ve been getting former rivals when they do that

I don't know if anyone else is having a problem with the universe mode where a created superstar with a created championship will have the belt not appearing in there entrance if they are in a feud
Same here I tried downloading a custom heavyweight championship and it appeared once then it never did after that
Personally my Universe is a bit of a mess, like I’ve got the Hart Foundation feuding with RK-Bro right now and Eddie Guerrero in a rivalry with Kevin Owens, but I like having a mix of certain legends and current day superstars, or my favorite versions of them (like Batista and HHH ‘08). I also have older versions of arenas and PPV’s to give a kind of “alternate timeline” vibe, I like it. Plus I haven’t watched WWE regularly these past couple years so all the new faces can be overwhelming. But I did like your tips in regards to rosters and divisions, and I didn’t know about the managers, so that’s useful, thanks! Always interesting to see how other people set up their Universe.
In my universe am running a one night show with regular ppv .all my superstars are In there 75 and 77 ratings and only 2 superstars are in there 90s and they are holding the titles lol.if u want the title u hav to level up to face those 2 guys .its fun how your guys can level up or rating can go up with the rivalry system and its fun how u can gav which superstar u want to have more momentum or stamina to win the match when u choose a action.
Hey is there a fix for being able to defend the smack down titles in a pay per view yet? The only way I can manage it is by giving each shows it’s own pay per view but hoping they sort it out sooner rather than later 😰
I agree 100%. I can’t enjoy it without this feature and haven’t seen anyone else mention it anywhere else.

I have RAW is WAR (Monday), NXT (Tuesday), WWE Live (house shows on Wednesday as a minor show), G.L.O.W. (all women's show on Thursday) and Old school SmackDown arena (Friday). some months I have Raw exclusive and Smackdown exclusive PLE's and other months a super cross brand ple.

Great video. Also your right. In the past my dumb self just started a brand new universe mode in slot 2 and didn't copy/paste. Copy and paste saves you a a lot of trouble. Also I forgot the more intense the rival is the longer it goes.

thanks i guess i'll have to vacate the titles from roman outside of universe when i get the game all because vc decided to remove the create a trio option from universe.
hope that works if i decide to have different champions on raw and smackdown because having roman with two titles when he only has one in universe isn't cool and not what i call something getting fixed imo
What I hate is I spent all the time setting up my Universe and it pairs people that aren’t a team together and messes up the teams that are set as teams. Idk if it has to do with the rivalries or not.
I know it is not related to the video, but i really hooped that the superstar mode would be better.

Does the cash in mid match work if you turn the slider all the way down? I have been trying different things but I can still not trigger it manually during a match :(
You can only cash in mid match during non rivalry championship matches

I find it dope how you see comments from older videos but I just got WWE 2k23 for the first time ever I used to play back on PSP so I wanted to try out the game on PS5 and was debating on getting the new one in March but after playing 2k23 I’m def getting 2k24 as I loved the gameplay and the nostalgia of playing with my favorites like Batista, Orton and Triple H. I was looking at videos to explain how to play this universe mode and I’m glad I found this one. I also have a custom superstar I made and I wanted to know if there was a mode other than MyRise which was very lackluster that I can use to claim my way to fighting Roman Reigns for those titles at some point haha. I also need help with myGM and if there’s any vids on that or any tips you have as again I’m very new to 2k WWE games and have a very faint memory of my ever playing myGM on the PSP. But you’ve got a new subscriber here and I’m very much happy that I got 2k23!

What’s the best way to do the brand split like how to make the most even roster
I have a question when it comes to WWE2k23 Universe Mode, as a Universe Mode player i always wonder could you set up a championship so it can float between both brands? or did they take that feature out? Like for example can i set the united states title for both raw and smackdown in universe mode and can both brands fight for it? i swear you could do that in previous years unless they took that feature out, whenever i do it and edit the division only one brand division would be on contention.
Yes you can I got a television title that floats between raw nxt and smackdown as a bragging rights title of sorts. Sometimes the champion will fight on nxt but it doesn't bother me it still works.

I usually put whatever title i want on both brands and they usually get in matches on both brands but can only be in one rivalry. I miss the feature that let you pick mid match run ins, made immersion alot better.

That belt you downloaded is a reward during the showcase
Can't fix things being utterly broken: players display changes when starting a match, unable to play Tag Team matches, Rivalries don't work proper... what is this?
Did you know if you create a war games or chamber match…you can play them in any arena? Tried that today thanks to your video about matches to create.
You can do any arena for elimination chambers but Wargames will always take place at NXT wargames no matter the arena unless theres someway to do it i dont know about lol.

I am interested in trying this game mode but it feels overwhelming as I haven't kept up with wrestling since I was a teen so a lot of the wrestlers are unfamiliar to me so i wouldn't know what a good match up would be. Do you have any recommendations for catching up on current WWE?
Thanks for the video. One thing thats really annoying you select who you want in each roster but it doesn't come up who you selected for the 1st show. So you end up picking the same star twice. 2K is very lazy at designing.
Are you able to defend smackdown main title and the smackdown womens title at ppvs when in a rivalry on universe mode? I think there is a glitch because during ppvs it is only a normal rivalry match

As someone that plays with minimal real life superstars and more created ones, I want to be able to have promos in this game, I’m currently having a Bloodline/Judgement day fued and would love to actually tell a story more then just have matches it would be way better
(So far the judgement day has a 1-0 record, going to be picking back up the fued after my summer slam PLE chapter 2 is gonna be epic hope The bloodline can tie it up, but I’m probably gonna keep it going till wrestlemania ending it there)
PS whoever created this Darth Maul character I downloaded if you see this he has had the CWL (Chicago Wrestling League ) Intercontinental heavyweight champion for a month now and just defended and retained it at Summer Slam he’s been on a tare and I’m here for it thank you for him just giving you props

They’re still building universe mode off a broken software notice it has the most bugs out all the modes
I have yet to fully dive in on universe mode until there's a more robust update that fixes rivalries and other issues. Especially since I'm interested in playing Superstar mode, which is completely broken. I was in a rivalry with the midcard champion for 6 weeks and I didn't even get a title match at the ppv, that's where I tapped out on the mode.
I give the women their own show with a few more titles!
I made something similar to NJPW and Stardom. Having 2 promotions, one male and other female. And playing around with fantasy booking, by adding AEW, TNA, NJPW, TJPW and Stardom superstars and then fixing the divisions for main eventers and midcarders.
So when I do a cutscene to where it changes the opponent, like if I were to have Edge get attacked by Rollins before his 1V1 match is there anyway I can choose that opponent that Edge would be facing?
