Retrofitting Alpina B7 Brakes - BMW F10 535i Brake Upgrade | BOND Garage

- It's been time to change the brakes on the 535i and since I'm at it, might as well upgrade to some bigger discs to eliminate the brake fading I've experienced when pushing the car a little harder in the canyons.
The video gives you the full instructions on changing brakes yourself.
Part numbers, tools and torque specs I used are below.
Enjoy watching!

Awesome work... Thank you...
After I paint I put a clear coat to help with scratches chemical damage.
so did I. 2 layers. I'm sure I could clean it all off with only 1 can of brake cleaner.. kinda disappointed
Super 👍👍
Hey, looks great! Was thinking of doing this upgrade myself. Would you say the front calipers weigh a lot more/ can you tell any difference while driving?
the weight difference is about what you'd expect. coming from the smaller 535i brakes here in the US it's notable heavier. from the bigger 550 brakes probably barely noticeable. feeling-wise, the first thing I've noticed were the braided lines. so much better pedal feel. they also have a lot more initial bite. can be somewhat annoying around town when coming to a stop. I'm no longer able to stop without jerk. but that's the only downside. absolutely love em!
oh yea and the spray paint is meh. better to powder coat them.
@@BONDGarage thanks for the response, still not sure about these or the g12 calipers, but do appreciate the input!
@@mattbattinieri6269 yea I haven't considered those when swapping mine. but from what I've read, the pads won't be a perfect fit like with the alpinas. but then again those are single piston and they dust like nothing I've seen before. it's not all just happiness
@@mattbattinieri6269 what do the forums say about a G12 swap? any issues or restrictions you need to look out for?
look-wise I'd go for the newer M-perf caliper but also depends on budget.
@@BONDGarage so i ended up ordering the g12 brake calipers and from what i understand from the vids online and a facebook post is the it bolts up same at f01 it just takes a few extra adjustments and a 4.5-5mm spacer instead. I got them delivered today and even the box they were in felt so much lighter than when i ordered the f01 alpina ones
So If I go with the 750 front brakes... all I need is the calipers, brackets, pads, and new rotors? Everything should bolt on without modification??
that's right
Are the 760/B7 calipers the same as the 750 F01 brakes?
No they are not but 750i and 550i have the same front brakes.
the diameter and thickness are the same but the hub is designed differently to allow for a larger brake pad. it reaches a little further inside towards the center. with that, everything is different lol
can the 18" wheels accommodate that larger caliper w/ a spacer or is this a diameter limitation?
since I don't have 18s I didn't bother checking. what I can say though is that the rear brakes should be fine since they're just 550 brakes. the front should also fit since the 760li has an 18" wheel option. but man that must be super tight.
Will it fit 0EM 18inch rims? Or is it very tight with your 19" already?
Ya. Same question too. Will it fit 18” original bmw wheels?
I don't have 18s to test but by the looks of it, I'd say they won't fit.
Hi
Good work . Do you think worth to convert like small brakes from f10 3.0 to 550i brakes like yours? is it good? as our old brakes got punching.
in general, yes. especially if you desire more from your brakes. when the time for new rotors comes you might just drop in some bigger calipers as well :)
Do they fit without problems? Which year aer that b7 brakes from?
Mine came from a 2014 B7. Plug & play
Hi can you tell me if these callipers will
Fit? They are apparently of a 760i. I can upload an image but they are twin piston ones.
would need to see it or have a part number. twin piston sounds like G series though. in that case you'd run into some issues to match discs and pads but I've seen people fitting G series brakes to F10s
Wondering if the F10 M5 calipers will fit those 351m 19’s. Any guesses?
I'm not certain on that. The M5 front discs are I believe 396mm or 400mm for the comp and these ones here only the standard 374. depends on the calliper design I'd say.
No they wont
Only 20inch rims will clear the m5 rims
Will it fit on a 2014 535d xdrive
I don't see why it wouldn't.
The 535d already has the better brakes, or at least the F10 and F11 does
Hi can you please post the part numbers for the front calliper’s again please??
