- @WaybackRewind I take the Canon XL H1s with the Atomos Digital Recorder to Houston's Hobby Airport and 1940s Terminal to get some sample footage. Recorded at the highest bitrate possible (205 Mbps) the highest resolution (1920 x 1080) and the highest frame rate, (29.97p) this represents the highest quality possible with this setup.
This video was shot specifically for this project and unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate as much. It was overcast and drizzling so I don't have any pretty blue skies to show, but I did get to watch a bunch of planes take off from the runway.
Let me know in the comments what you think of the quality.
Thanks for watching

I used to work as a video journalist 15 years ago, a one-person TV news-shooter. And I worked with several "HDV" cameras using that small MiniDV tapes...your footage really reminds me of that era...although I know you filmed on digital media so it must look way better than what I did on tape in the past..
I did a comparison of the tape versus harddrive and you would be surprised. Despite having 8 times the bit rate on the harddrive it's difficult to tell them apart.
Thanks for watching
I was wondering ... is the mini DV footage way worse than the hard drive capture?
Thats a great question. I shot simultaneosly on the DV tape so i can compare. I'll post up a comparison video and we can see.
Thanks for watching.
@@WaybackRewind Looking forward to the update.
Unfortunately for me, the Samurai control did not work in the same setup. I tried all the existing variations, but the camera did not start recording. Finally, a 2.5/2.5 mm. Connecting with a LANC cable brought success, now it records simultaneously on tape and SSD. Have a nice day.
Thanks for the tip. I dont know that I ever got simultaeous control to work. I just started and stopped it manually. I need to try the lanc. Thanks for watching.
@@WaybackRewind I'm glad I helped. I've been launching with this setup for a month, but neither the sound nor the launch signal reached the recorder on the SDI line. It was also possible to transmit the sound with an RCA-Jack cable. Starting/stopping is solved by dividing the Lanc connectors. I'm Tibor from Budapest. Have a nice day.
I had success with the audio over the SDI, but never got the launch signal to work properly. I had not tried every combination so I assumed I just didnt do it properly. When i get more time I will try again. Thank you so much for watching.
