TheMater99 There is a small chance that Mipha will return revitalized just like Link did in the Shrine of Resurrection. But in this desolated place on what we call "The Reality", people die on a daily basis and will most likely will never return because of their fate at hand. The Champions are rather, died too early, they are just outmatched by this inevitable "Calamity" before they can even prove their worth and become an accomplished heroes like their fellow townsfolk believed in. They returned as ghosts of their former selves just to realize their ambition to protect their descendants' lives to not to imitate and repeat the suffering they felt.
Zora domain ripped your heart out in this game. It isn't bad enough mipha dies, you learn that she really liked link, made a special suit of armor for him and sewed one of her scales into it, which is what zora women do for their husbands.
And it's not like Ruto, Mipha doesn't come across as forceful and deciding for both of them behind Link's back. Mipha simply genuinely cares about him and wants him to be well, she really is someone you can imagine Link being happy with.
Nitsuj Ozare actually he did have feelings for her as other Zora recognize him not for being a champion but for being with mipha even the armorer says link stole her away
This emotionally scarred me because I went into Vah Ruta thinking Mipha was still alive since her father and some others thought she was trapped. This was my first Divine Beast so I thought you just had to free the Champions and they would be okay. OH FUCKING BOI WAS I WRONG.
@@wlfmanjack okay was Gannon really that bad? His actions were only to take out anything that was actively trying to kill him, he could have done a lot worse if he wanted to
Link: offer me money Waterblight: yes Link: power too, promise me that Waterblight: all that I have and more, PLEASE Link: offer me everything I ask for Waterblight: anything you want Link: *stabs Waterblight* I want Mipha back you son of a b!tch
I had to punch a wall to regain my manliness after the Zora sequence of events. Man I wish we could have saved the champions, they were such great characters.
@michael ladd Also, and ending bossfight with actually fighting alongside the champions would have been a hell of a lot better than what we got ... worst part of the game, unfortunately. Well, rain was pretty annoying as well xD
I could imagine Link being incredibly somber after having this rush of memories coming back to him all of a sudden. It would be really tough to experience the loss all at once again.
Lionel Faylard a hundred years of sleep, a hundred years of death, a hundred years of failure, and a hundred years of someone who loved Link being trapped with Waterblight Gannon. Links reaction; 😐
Man, the Zoras always have it rough. SPOILERS They were bad guys in the early Zelda Games. Their home gets frozen in ice and stays that way in OOT. The front man of an epic band dies and his lover is a widow to seven children in MM. They became extinct in WW. The queen is assassinated, leaving a young prince to rule with little guidance in TP. They got replaced by weird seahorses in SS. and in BOTW, a noble and your childhood friend/future wife is killed and a portion of Zora's Domain blames her death on you.
Rend Keaven technically they weren't bad guys in the early games, they were still peaceful. The ones that attacked you were actually just renegades from the Zora clan who attacked anyone they thought posed a threat, only to protect their kingdom. Pretty much the douchebags of the kingdom. It's best explained in ALBW
To the guy who said that the Zora evolved into the Rito: yes, it's true. I think I remember Eiji Aunuma going on record saying that the Zora evolved into the Rito. We can see both of them existing at the same time in BOTW, living in separate communities. It's not like all the Zora died off and simultaneously evolved into the Rito. It's actually pretty similar to apes (or whatever we evolved from) and humans. If apes were to go extinct, we wouldn't say that they still exist in the form of humans. Two different species, two different social pyramids, cultures, etc.
The thing i like the most about Mipha she was the one to get a reaction out of link. When link remembers the other champion's whoever he's around comments how he looks lost in thought but with Mipha they said that he looked stammered and stricken. There was a lot pointing that he had feelings for her. With Zelda in the flashbacks he always kept a certain amount of distance from her and always just sorta doing that bodyguard lingering over the shoulder thing. It was also stated by the Zora that he would always take time to visit Mipha and talking about there closeness.
Yes that at first. But have u seen botw 2 trailer? In the first one link walks behind her now he walks beside her. You all can ship the dead fish and link all the way but u know who is the one who has development in relationship. And by the way link only mention zelda name in his diary, and some words that may contain romantic feelings
I’m pretty sure he walked behind her because she could’ve easily slipped away without him noticing if he was leading the way or even walking beside her. (Sorry, I’m 3 years late 😂)
Great decision really. Makes us players wanna kick Ganon's ass that much more, giving us even more incentive to actually complete the story line, where a lot of other open world games have the problem where people don't really care about beating the game.
ramen5 And in a way it still is a problem here to me. Ganon...for anyone that cares ro get spoiled, was just a mindless entity, a monster that i had to defeat. Their was no real presence of Ganon as a personal villain, he was just simply a threat. Thats my problem with this game, the only major one
Well technically, this Ganon was not even a person. It was just a force of nature. An evil one but still a force. It wasn't that satisfying to have '' Yea, you tamed this dark force of nature but it can never go away truly and everyone is still dead '' Revenge is never as satisfying as you want to beç
This is awful. Mipha was so young, she had so much to live for. The thought of her trapped inside Vah Ruta with Waterblight Ganon is heartbreaking. Imagine how she must have felt when she realized that she was going to die. Her future was obliterated in an instant. All her hopes and dreams died with her.
Man the elephant is the 1st divine beast I beat, and i totally thought mipha would come back to life once i beat the dungeon. and then her fucking ghost shows up and the game becomes literally fucking unplayble
Bukacake it wasn't my first divine beast but my third and Gord damnit I wanted her to come back to life so bad it was unreal. The first damn time Link will get married and Gabon ruins it.
+McPlays _ Well, Ruto also gave Link an engagement gift, and we all know that he wasn't interested. Mipha, while I like her character, doesn't seem to have an actual reason for loving Link. Just being childhood friends doesn't mean anything unless their history and relationship is expanded on. Unfortunately, in Breath of the Wild the past between Link and Mipha is incredibly vague. All we know is that Mipha loved Link to the point of preparing an engagement gift for him in the form of the Zora Armor. However, we never know Link's feelings about the matter, and so assuming that they were destined to wed is an assumption that cannot be backed up. And she's, you know, a different species. Personally, I prefer Zelda x Link because while Link visually remains very stoic throughout the entire game, we do learn through Zelda's diary that she began to grow closer to him, and over time he began to confide in her, telling her things he had never told another before. Zelda clearly falls in love with Link, and while Link's feelings in every game (with the exception of Skyward Sword) are pretty ambiguous, this is the only source that can be found in game that provides evidence that Link may feel something for another character. We also get to see why and how Zelda falls in love with Link, whereas with Mipha, she is just in love with him for no reason (that is provided in game, mind you). Link saves Zelda's life, and Zelda in return saves his. The relationship seems more mutual between Zelda and Link, rather than Mipha and Link. Mipha was a fantastic champion and a lovable character, however her purpose was mainly to add further tragedy to Link's past during the disaster that was Calamity Ganon; not to act as a love interest. This is why she, like the other champions, are dead. It was a relationship the creators never meant to be.
Mipha became a champion for protect Link, she gave her power to him, she wanted to give her devotion and love to him, she wanted to marry him and she knows Link since more time than Zelda ! he's her CHILDHOOD friend. She knows Link in a way more deeper way and saw him evolve. She healed him since his childhood. They obviously spend so much time together. Mipha proved in one game way more times that she loved Link than Zelda does in 30 years. Zelda seems cooler and more kind in this game but come on. Mipha save Link's life everytime he dies. That's a way to stay with him from where she is. It is way more inspiring to me. Mipha is an angel.
"Mipha became a champion for protect Link" That is never stated, in fact none of the champions are given personal reasons other than they were appointed by the royal family. Nothing more. "she gave her power to him, she wanted to give her devotion and love to him, she wanted to marry him and she knows Link since more time than Zelda" Knowing someone longer doesn't mean they are bound to have more romantic feelings for the other. Also doesn't change the fact that she's dead :/ "She knows Link in a way more deeper way and saw him evolve. She healed him since his childhood. They obviously spend so much time together." All of this is a compilation of assumptions. Also, being childhood friends means nothing if we get no insight on the two's relationship. Link and Mipha's childhood relationship could range from sweethearts to friendly acquaintances as their history is so vague in the game. "Mipha save Link's life everytime he dies." Unless the player is actually good... Don't get the wrong idea, I love Mipha as a character and I teared up during her cutscene, I just don't think Link and her should be shipped. They have way too many flaws as a pairing.
I guess during the DLC Mipha was doubting if they could be together and making link the armor, she remembered a story of "a Zora princess giving one to a hylian hero"
+Minishcat Paya's diary mentions how she understands Link's feelings for Zelda and she's willing to give up her crush in order for those two to be happy. And Link look up to Mipha as a mother or older sister, JS.
098Lennox actually in the Japanese version link has a diary and he writes about his relationships with the champions, He had sex with mipha and even proposed to her
I just defeated the divine beast Van Ruta, and I'm sad about Mipha. It sad that she died so young and her relationship with link is adorable. I feel sad that all the champions died.
@@haydenmcclure6230 he doesn't show emotions at all he's stone face all the time to be a great knight and pour out his emotions somewhere else, that's why revali Hates him he just wants to talk and misunderstanding that link is ignoring him to show his superiority to the Rito he decides to be douchebag that he always is and be better at link every chance he gets, which results in their Rivalry. that's why mipha is so worried about him he use to be a kid with full of energy and emotions that when he came back to his childhood home stone face and barely smiling he's not the same person anymore so mipha determined to know what's wrong with her childhood friend trying to talk to him and failing miserably and then their battle with the lynel in polymus mountain happened mipha fell in love she makes the armor and you know the rest
The Seven Stages of Mourning: Step 1: Watch this flashback. Step 2: Feel your heart start to break. Step 3: Try not to cry. Step 4: Lay down. Step 5: Cry a lot. Step 6: Take out your grief on Ganon. Step 7: Go back to step 1.
i don't really ship it, because i mainly ship zelink bUT MIPHA IS THE PUREST CINNAMON ROLL EVER I LOVE HER AND IT BREAKS MY HEART TO KNOW THAT SHE LOVED LINK AND DIED LATER ON SHE JUST WANTED TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH HIM, GODDAMNIT NINTENDO
I was playing though thinking the main control module was like a pilot cockpit and stored her body in hibernation or something, I thought I was gonna rescue her, then her spirit showed and I was FUCKKKKKKKKKK
It's even worse knowing that on one of Dorphan's stone tablets it reads that the entire reason she became a champion was because he let her recklessly bond with it under his nose. He flat out says he regrets it. God I want those champions back so bad.
King Dorphan had all that regret and he's about the only person who doesn't hold a grudge. I know he's already massive, but he really is the bigger person.
Honestly wish you could travel back in time to save her. Figures; time travel is practically a staple of the Zelda series, and the ONE TIME I want it there... Mind you, I only just got to this scene, so I don't know if time travel is a thing or not
*Mipha's Dairy* At the request of Hyrule's king. a group outsiders came to greet us at the domain. One of them was a Hylian child of only four years of age. His name was Link. He made quite a first impression. He was curious and full of energy. With a ready smile. Are all Hylian Children that way? One thing that surely sets him apart is his swordsmanship. Which i hear is exceptional. He has even bested adults. He must be somewhat reckless, however. as he was covered in bruise. Wishing to be helpful. i healed his wound for him. Its must have been his first time seeing healing magic. As he looked up at me with bing, round eyes. it was. . . adorable. the first time i laid eyes on Ruta. i was surprised by how cute it was, Its so big and round. With along, awkward nose. according to the Sheikah who found Ruta. Divine Beasts require someone worthy to control them. It's fun to imagine someone piloting this enormous beast in the distant past. i wonder who will have that honor next. Link came to visit the domain. Its feels like forever since he was here last. He no longer resemble the child i first met. He is now an accomplished knight and keeper of the sword that seals the darkness. I am so proud. However. . . He hardly speaks anymore. And smiles even more rarely. He is still kind soul i knew. But something has changed. I ask him if something had happened if something was wrong. He merely shook his head. Perhaps it is his newly acquired height. but i feel he is ever looking past me. Into the distance beyond. . . The princess of Hyrule paid a special visit to the domain. She asked me if i would agree to pilot a Divine Beast. She told me she needs my help to face the calamity. My heart knew at once what to do. i agreed without reservation. Calamity Ganon Must not be resurrected. If he is. There is no way to ensure the safety of my people. or of anyone. I do not know what will happen. All i know is that if there is anything i can do to help. I must try. I must try protect Hyrule. There is also that. . . The Divine Beasts are meant to assist the chosen hero when he faces ganon. In this way. I can help Link. Link came to visit me. It had been ages i told him the Lynel of playmus Mountain has be terrorizing everyone lately. When i said that. He started walking toward the mountain, Without a word. Spellbound. I followed him there. When we were almost there. He told me to turn back. He insisted he would be fine on his own. I stubbornly stayed. While i argued. The Lynel attacking us from behind! i was sure he had met our end. How silly of me doubt. With a sure hand a fierce gleam in his eyes, Link unsheathed the sword that seals the darkness and defeat our foe. His swordsmanship was swift and graceful. I was fascinated by the beauty of his movement. Through i should have been terrified. i could not help but feel safe in the presence of my dear friend. His kindness and determination to help those in need. . . His strength and skill. . . My heart is drawn to his i am doomed. The last beautiful move link performed on the mountain is called a spin attack. Perhaps i will attempt it with my spear. Father has finally given his blessing for me to pilot the Divine Beast. The threat of the Calamity can no longer be ignored. Father said the Zora must play their part. He seemed on the brink of tear when he made me promise to return unharmed. My eyes burned with tear as well. so i simply nodded. seggin could hardly look at me. Muzu left partway through. I feel awful for putting them through this. But i must do what i can to help Link. I could never forgive myself otherwise. Speaking of Link. . . i have last finished gathering the materials for the armor i shall start making it at once. Today was the inauguration ceremony at Hyrule Castle. It was an honor to take part. however. . . i experienced something wondrous. a beautiful moment in time i shall treasure forever. i am grateful to the princess for agreeing to my request. and the Daruk for. . . um. . . well. gor bringing mr closer to Link. Oh i did hear something that shocked me enough to almost overshadow that happy moment. Link has been chosen to guard the princess whatever she goes. They shall. . . be spending much time together. . . I finally completed that special armor for Link. I am confide it will fit him perfectly. He is coming to the Domain soon. I hope to give him my gift when i see him. But. . . i should i really go through with it? According to the lagend. Long ago a Zora princess fell in love with Hylian swordsman. Perhaps there is hope. This will be a rare occasion that Link is not accompanying the princess. We should have some time ourselves. Oh! i have an idea! At sunset i shall ride upon Ruta with Link. Zora princess of the past. . . please lend lend me your courage!
In my head canon, Link always retires to live out his days in Zora's Domain after he's done saving Hyrule from evil. And then he adopts a little orphan Zora.
Only just got my hands on botw and just finished this story arch as my first divine beast. This comment section is exactly what I was looking for. Like some of you said, I literally had the thought “this is a vengeance story. This isn’t Link’s world anymore, his died 100 years ago. This is paying back for that decimation.” Thanks Nintendo for ripping my heart out
None of them except for Mipha do. Revali is just working together because he is the strongest Rito. Daruk quickly became friends with Link. Urbosa, despite her race's tradition, befriends Link. Mipha is the only one who had a deeper bond. They knew eachother since childhood, before they even met Zelda.
The thing that stung me the most was that a lot of the characters in this game felt real, not excluding mipha. In fact, out of all of them, I felt like she was one of the most realistic (somehow). That made it althemore painful when I met her spirit in Vah Ruta, since I thought she was still alive.
People complaining about how the Companions are such great characters and killing them makes no sense. How are you supposed to miss what was lost if you don't understand why it was special? The fact that Mipha and the others were so special is supposed to give weight to the actions of Calamity Ganon.
THANK YOU. I often feel like I'm in the minority of fans because, while I love Mipha's character, I very strongly do NOT want her (or the other champions) to be revived. Personally, I find that one of the things that makes Mipha so memorable is her tragedy: a beloved princess taken too soon from her people, involved in a romance that was doomed by her destiny, waiting a whole century after her death so that she can complete her mission and finally put her spirit to rest. It's so sad... but, from a character standpoint, it's also what makes her very appealing. Mipha's tragedy helps motivate players (and, through them, Link) to avenge her by defeating Ganon and see to it that her sacrifice will never be in vain. If you undo her death, you take away a major defining facet of her character.
As much as it sucked for us players, killing the Champions off before the main story had even begun worked for the rest of the story. If they were alive during the events of gameplay they probably wouldn’t feel as significant.
Ah yes, let's raise the stakes of a villain who has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING OVER THE 100 YEARS THAT HE HAS ASSUMED CONTROL OF HYRULE! The devs really switch the tone like a light switch when it comes to this game
@Princess Zelda I share your feelings. I have the same problems when I comment something in Zelink videos. I don't type anything offensive and Zelink shippers want to kill me for once. Pd. I ship Zelink and Miphlink at the same time.
Mipha: I put up as much of a fight as I could, but it proved to be my demise 100 years ago. Me: *proceeds to equip savage lynel bow and ancient arrows*
Mipha is such a wonderful character and deserved to be with Link... I seriously felt sad and cried when I saw this scene. Mipha's song is my favorite song of all the game's soundtrack. For sure Mipha is more interesting as a character then Zelda...
I think that's kind of the thing about their relationship, no matter what happens it's always going to end in tragedy. Either Mipha dies prematurely or she has to spend most of her life without Link. Really sucks huh
Technically, the game introduced a canon way for Link to live as long as a Zora. Purah invented a de-aging rune. This would let Link choose his age, allowing him to grow old with Mipha.
@auragameryt They DO have it. It's canon in Breath of the Wild. Purah mentioned inventing her own Sheikah Slate with the de-aging rune on it. That's how she's young again.
it's so tear-jerking when they talk about what they're going to do after they seal ganon but in fact die and have their spirits trapped in the machines they used to fight
"Ruta, we've found a way to be useful to Link..." That goddamn line. Hell, the entire storyline. Zora storyline was the first one I did, hit me right in the feels in its entirety. Made all the other areas feel a lot less impactful though.
Redheaded beloved by the people spear waifu who's in love with a blonde swordsman with a shield who hurts himself a lot is cut down by the villain before anything much comes of the ship between them. Fish Pyrrha.
I want my future wife to be like Mipha. She's such a gentle soul. and her devotion to the one she loves is unmatched. Mipha was the only champion that I truly cared about and had motivation to avenge while playing the game.
Link learned to bottle his emotions at a young age since he found the best response to staring eyes was silence. If Link didn’t spend his life hiding his emotions he probably would have a mental breakdown at a point in the game. Who wouldn’t? A Zora who loved him throughout his childhood is dead and all she wanted was to spend time with him, his rival in combat was killed, the Goron he was good companions with and the Gerudo that was a great warrior are all dead. How couldn’t that do damage to the average person? Yet Link has learned to seal those emotions since he puts honour first, he was born into a family of Royal Guards which also most likely put him through extensive training to put duty first and interests last.
Even if she would have outlived him, I think it's pretty damn clear She and link would have had a happy life together for the time they did have, with link fighting his hardest for Zora and Hyrule alike.
;-; I agree, it would be sad for Mipha to probably have to watch him grow old and dye of old age way before her but it's obvious she really loved him and didn't care about any of that :'(
This game and moment is seriously something special for me, and clearly other players. This is honestly the first LoZ game that I actually enjoyed and wanted to play, I knew how good the other games where, but playing them never really interested me. I could never actually get into the games as a player, I just appreciated them as someone who likes games. Then this game came out and blew me away gameplay wise, to the point where I outright ignored story and just explored and had fun, and I got the game, heading to stables and having that beautiful music creep in, going into a shrine and spending 5 minutes figuring out a puzzle, And that sense of accomplishment when doing it, everything, I fell in love with this game. After a couple months I decided to actually do more of the main quests and headed here pretty much by accident first, the Zora city was so cool looking that I wanted to explore and talk to everyone, and learned all about Mipha, and was super interested in her, After getting this cutscene, I instantly forgot about zelda and wanted to save mipha. Doing the divine beast and hearing her cheer me on, and seeing her spirit after clearing ganon out... man I didn’t think a zelda game would ever make me that sad. I still remember her telling me to go save the princess, But I already failed saving my princess... Fuck you nintendo, I didn’t ask for these feels
I hated that Mipha had to die man. Funny thing is that we're getting emotional over something that happened 100 years ago in the game. And we're treating it as if we were there experiencing it.
I like a cutscene in Age of Calamity where Mipha talks to Daruk and asks him if he can train her to fight and stuff. That way, she can spend more time with Link and use training as an excuse. Mate, Mipha is every teenager in love. And whenever AoC allows to have two players or more, I play as both Link and Mipha, she's pretty kickass.
Vah Ruta was the 2nd divine beast for me when I played the game. But I remember when I got the lightscale trident I swore to keep it until the very end. And so I did. I used it the first time against Ganon for the final blow. Miphas death is now avenged.
Woweee, the German version is a bit different. Here she says: "And when the battle is over, i wish that you will visit me one day, like in the past.. at the time.. when we were children..." Damn, this reminds me of Ocarina Of Time... What an emotional scene!
THIS WAS ADORABLE! also, despite link clearly getting injured all the time, we never actually see him with a scratch on his body. until now, of course. that's one of the reasons I love this game. link can not only be injured, but actually LOOK injured. well, in cutscenes. I wonder what clawed at his arm this time?
If you pay attention to the memories, you can find that Link got a wound two memories before visiting Mipha. And the wound was in the same location as the location Mipha healed in her memory.
This scene, plus a certain tidbit that comes about later *spoiler witheld* really, REALLY changed the tone of the entire game, for me. Vah Ruta was the first Divine Beast I took on, and I put it off long enough to obtain the Master Sword. All that time, I was focused on getting stronger, and just having fun pissing around. But from the moment I completed Vah Ruta, I was just...changed. The whole tone of the game was altered, and I legit had to put the game down for a bit, to process it. It was just so...unexpected. Looking back, if I had done any of the other beasts first, I wouldn't have had the same reaction, at all, and the spoiler wouldn't have been as powerful. Especially if it were Vah Medoh ( the first village I reached ), because fuck that arrogant Falco wannabe.
Same here, man. The entire Vah Ruta arc just left me numb afterwards. I don't think I've ever attacked a boss so fiercely as I attacked that incarnation of Ganon inside the Divine Beast, lol. Really hoping the upcoming story DLC involves a way to go back in time and undo the damage Ganon caused, or at the very least revive the champions,. Else, it just feels like a bittersweet victory without Mipha, =(
Yeah, when I struck the final blow on Calamity Ganon ( Urbosa's Fury being the attack ), I whispered, "That one is for Mipha." What has this game done to me? -_-;
I'm struggling. On one hand, I get emotional and sad watching this, but at the same time, I get into fit of laughter when I think of when the Game Grumps played this game
They were sort of an item, her gifting of the the zora armor, their childhood together, her family approval (the king is like... my daughter loved you... you'd best never forget). Had she somehow survived, I'm sure he'd be forced into marriage with her. As for Zelda, you do not have relationships with yo own appointed knight.
Well...Ocarina of Time. In two timelines, Zelda being with Link is an outright impossibility(one has him dead and the other being returned to the past), while the third makes it possible yet unlikely, given Link is implied to die alone, and a lot of continuity nods point out that Malon was his most likely bride if anything. So, sorry to break it to you, but given the Goddess' power is inherited by blood...Zelda had to marry and have kids with someone that definitely wasn't Link in at least two of those three timelines, if not in every single one of them. You wanna act bitchy? I let the canon destroy you since on itself proves your pairing outright impossible in more than one scenario. Simple as that. Sorry, not sorry
...Ganon, come here. I JUST wanna talk. We're JUST gonna talk about what you did, Ganon. Nevermind why I have a power drill and a welding iron, I JUST wanna talk. Come here Ganon... GANON... COME... HERE!!!
Mipha knew that Link liked Zelda, so when she said “anyone” she knew that if Zelda hurt link or it didn’t work out she would welcome Link back in with loving arms. Mipha really is a pure soul 😭
How much luminous stone have i donated/sold to the Zoras and only the Zoras now? How about... ALL OF IT! TAKE IT! Out of sheer love and respect for the Zoras, and of course for poor Mipha.
Hey bro !! I have a mission for you, there is a spanish channel called "hyrule tv", you can go there in the "community" part and there will be a poll where you can vote for Mipha! Right now she is in second place..
I don't even need to think about which champion bleesing i love the most, or what is my favourite cutscene. Mipha is one of the best characters i saw in a videogame because of everything that represents her in this game. Literally everyone loved her and are in so much pain after everything that happened. I also love that she naturally is an kind heart and this isn't a surprise to anyone. Even her unique power is also an prove that she's sweet to the heart.
Damn I ship it hard. Mipha is such a fine waifu. And before people i shoul stick to Zelink, I think when character development is important in liking a character, it is not so in liking a pair. Closeness matters more. Yeah, Zelda develop as a character but her relationship remains static. It's the same in every incarnations, a princess and her knight. Mipha is on her way to develop their relationship. I think that matters more to like the ship.
You shouldn't stick to anything, nobody should tell you that. Shipping is free, even if some ships are utterly stupid. That being said...I really don't get your point. For once, character development in a pair Is a crucial point to make the pair believable and to make it work. There's a reason the concept of belligerent sexual tension is so popular, it's something people can relate to. Secondly...what? Not only is the relationship between Link and Zelda varied depending on the game, but in this game it triggers character development for BOTH of the characters. Zelda's defining traits aren't tied to her royal status, and the fact she opens to Link and Link opens to her is significant to her awakening her sealed power. On top of that...Mipha wasn't very clear with Link about her feelings. It's more evident on the japanese version, but as far as thing went they were just friends, and for what we know Mipha is merely that childhood friend that never got her chance to confess(not even talk about propose).
I no longer care about link and Zelda. I do care about Oot link with Malon, but I care way more about this. It's interesting because the divine beast is named after Ruto who also liked Link but she was a jerk kinda lol.
I honestly think Link loved Mipha. There are clues. The biggest is his reaction at the very end to remembering her. He didn't react like that to remembering anyone else. Plus he grew up with her and gave her his measurements for the Zora equivalent of an engagement ring, which he happily wears to battle to save her spirit and the guardian.
Uh...we really don't know how she got the measurements though. And the fact he grew with her isn't indicative on itself, as the game also implies they grew apart over time. It would be silly to say he didn't care for her, but to say he loved her is more complicated
From this moment onward the game shifted from "Save the Princess" to " Avenge your dead Zora Waifu".
Same
Thats what I was thinking back then :'(
TheMater99
"I was thinking..."
-Mipha
"...that maybe we could spend some time together" 😭

There is a small chance that Mipha will return revitalized just like Link did in the Shrine of Resurrection.
😭😭😭😭😭
That scene hit me
And it's not like Ruto, Mipha doesn't come across as forceful and deciding for both of them behind Link's back. Mipha simply genuinely cares about him and wants him to be well, she really is someone you can imagine Link being happy with.

Man, the Zoras always have it rough. SPOILERS
They were bad guys in the early Zelda Games.
Damn the Zora tragedy
They evolved to Rito in WW so not really extinct.
Rend Keaven also in OoT yhe princess there also wants link to be her husband or proposes to him or what ever.
Yeah no
Yes that at first. But have u seen botw 2 trailer? In the first one link walks behind her now he walks beside her. You all can ship the dead fish and link all the way but u know who is the one who has development in relationship. And by the way link only mention zelda name in his diary, and some words that may contain romantic feelings
Oh God! Don't give me hope again! Let the shipping commence!
I’m pretty sure he walked behind her because she could’ve easily slipped away without him noticing if he was leading the way or even walking beside her.
(Sorry, I’m 3 years late 😂)
@ToxicLogic at least he does research, no need to be so rude
The four champions are all such great characters. Why kill them off? I wouldve loved to get to know them better. Plus holy shit i ship this so hard
Great decision really. Makes us players wanna kick Ganon's ass that much more, giving us even more incentive to actually complete the story line, where a lot of other open world games have the problem where people don't really care about beating the game.
Zelda got to live why couldn't they have come back after Ganon dies? ;(
ramen5 And in a way it still is a problem here to me.
It wasn't that satisfying to have '' Yea, you tamed this dark force of nature but it can never go away truly and everyone is still dead ''
Revenge is never as satisfying as you want to beç
PootieWienerfish except for Revali. He was a jerk
The way these characters express their love without ever using the word itself is absolutely beautiful.
“Go,Link, find your princess”“You are my princess, Mipha”
mailly ning ship it
Yes. Should be canon.
YES
This is awful. Mipha was so young, she had so much to live for. The thought of her trapped inside Vah Ruta with Waterblight Ganon is heartbreaking. Imagine how she must have felt when she realized that she was going to die. Her future was obliterated in an instant. All her hopes and dreams died with her.
I never hated ganon so much until now, fuck you fucking ganon
At least Terrako had changed her fate when he pulled Sidon from the ruined timeline to the Age of Calamity alternate reality.
Misu Chiku Wow Talk about Venting
"Mipha became a champion for protect Link"
That is never stated, in fact none of the champions are given personal reasons other than they were appointed by the royal family. Nothing more.
"she gave her power to him, she wanted to give her devotion and love to him, she wanted to marry him and she knows Link since more time than Zelda"
Knowing someone longer doesn't mean they are bound to have more romantic feelings for the other. Also doesn't change the fact that she's dead :/
"She knows Link in a way more deeper way and saw him evolve. She healed him since his childhood. They obviously spend so much time together."
All of this is a compilation of assumptions. Also, being childhood friends means nothing if we get no insight on the two's relationship. Link and Mipha's childhood relationship could range from sweethearts to friendly acquaintances as their history is so vague in the game.
"Mipha save Link's life everytime he dies."
Unless the player is actually good...
Don't get the wrong idea, I love Mipha as a character and I teared up during her cutscene, I just don't think Link and her should be shipped. They have way too many flaws as a pairing.
As an age old Ruto/Link shipper, I'm happy to see that Link is back to romancing fish ladies...
... But not like this. I'M NOT CRYING, YOU"RE CRYING
Never have I thought I would one day say, "Link fucked a fish!" and be both really excited and depressed about it.

Worked for the little mermaid. Should have worked here. Easily could have.
I guess during the DLC Mipha was doubting if they could be together and making link the armor, she remembered a story of "a Zora princess giving one to a hylian hero"
I usually ship Link and Zelda, but I don't ship it in BOTW. That just makes Link and Mipha SOOOO much better.
This timeline link needs a fishy waifu.
+Minishcat Paya's diary mentions how she understands Link's feelings for Zelda and she's willing to give up her crush in order for those two to be happy. And Link look up to Mipha as a mother or older sister, JS.

*Mipha's Dairy*
At the request of Hyrule's king. a group outsiders came to greet us at the domain.
His kindness and determination to help those in need. . . His strength and skill. . . My heart is drawn to his
i am doomed.
Zora princess of the past. . . please lend
lend me your courage!

Zelda: I'm the main waifu of BOTW
Mipha: Hold my cuteness.
Only just got my hands on botw and just finished this story arch as my first divine beast. This comment section is exactly what I was looking for.
Like some of you said, I literally had the thought “this is a vengeance story. This isn’t Link’s world anymore, his died 100 years ago. This is paying back for that decimation.”
Thanks Nintendo for ripping my heart out
I completely agree. I truly hope the Zelda team will be smart enough to bring her back in the sequel.
It is kinda sad. Knowing link had deep bonds with the champions
Yet he lives on while they died
He even made promises to them
Except Revali. Revali has no personal ties with Link.
Mipha and Link deserved a happy ending.
People complaining about how the Companions are such great characters and killing them makes no sense. How are you supposed to miss what was lost if you don't understand why it was special? The fact that Mipha and the others were so special is supposed to give weight to the actions of Calamity Ganon.

PLS. GIVE ME THE STORY DLC NOW!!!
PLS. END MY SUFFERING!!!
They need to make a Legend of Mipha game and give her more lore. She deserved to be with link, why am I crying in the club rn

@@Drew.MellowI wish that they had invented that and a resurrection rune

Link learned to bottle his emotions at a young age since he found the best response to staring eyes was silence.
If Link didn’t spend his life hiding his emotions he probably would have a mental breakdown at a point in the game. Who wouldn’t? A Zora who loved him throughout his childhood is dead and all she wanted was to spend time with him, his rival in combat was killed, the Goron he was good companions with and the Gerudo that was a great warrior are all dead. How couldn’t that do damage to the average person? Yet Link has learned to seal those emotions since he puts honour first, he was born into a family of Royal Guards which also most likely put him through extensive training to put duty first and interests last.
link loves sidon!
Even silent people can express their love towards others. Actions speak louder than words
Link needs to realize this and bring her back. TotK better let us resurrect Mipha!
I just realized that female zora having mammal tails on their heads (like dophlins) and male zora have fish tails on their heads (like sharks)
Actually, I'd say that Mipha resembles a Nurse shark (which is very fitting considering her power).
but sidon has a dolphin too and he's a male zora ...
Dx XD Sidon look is more like a HAMMER head shark
Even if she would have outlived him, I think it's pretty damn clear She and link would have had a happy life together for the time they did have, with link fighting his hardest for Zora and Hyrule alike.
;-; I agree, it would be sad for Mipha to probably have to watch him grow old and dye of old age way before her but it's obvious she really loved him and didn't care about any of that :'(
Look on the bright side, when Link dies in around 80 years he'll be able to stay with Mipha and appear the same age forever.
I mean... You do remember what Purah managed to do right?
So true...
I hated that Mipha had to die man. Funny thing is that we're getting emotional over something that happened 100 years ago in the game. And we're treating it as if we were there experiencing it.
The Zora council is right, we must avenge Mipha.
We ride at dawn
I like a cutscene in Age of Calamity where Mipha talks to Daruk and asks him if he can train her to fight and stuff. That way, she can spend more time with Link and use training as an excuse.
Mate, Mipha is every teenager in love. And whenever AoC allows to have two players or more, I play as both Link and Mipha, she's pretty kickass.
She promised to always heal us, but the pain of her death... Some wounds don't heal.
The only way to truly heal us is to bring Mipha back. We'll find a way in TotK, mark my words!
@@Drew.Mellowsadly I don’t think anyone has found a way 😢
@@auragameryt Yeah, I know. DLC, maybe...
If you don't dye your Zora armour crimson out of respect, then you have no soul.
JackTheBaker As soon as I got the whole set that's the first thing I did. 😭
Does red count? I didn't have enough materials for Crimson dye DX
JackTheBaker made mine all black lol
I made it red directly after I got the whole set
JackTheBaker I'm dying it like aquaman
Mipha and Sidon are my most favourite Zora ever. The Zora are my favourite Zelda race ever.
Here she says:
"And when the battle is over, i wish that you will visit me one day, like in the past.. at the time.. when we were children..."
Damn, this reminds me of Ocarina Of Time...
What an emotional scene!
That's because this romance is exactly the one from Ocarina of Time, between Link and Ruto!!
You legit don't know how many times I've watched this vid
THIS WAS ADORABLE!
also, despite link clearly getting injured all the time, we never actually see him with a scratch on his body. until now, of course. that's one of the reasons I love this game. link can not only be injured, but actually LOOK injured. well, in cutscenes. I wonder what clawed at his arm this time?
Anna LovesCrafts
it was a remlit
Zhane Patrick Elam Ha. you might be right.
Anna LovesCrafts Maybe he might have had a confrontation with a Zora, a racist one at that.
Else, it just feels like a bittersweet victory without Mipha, =(
Yeah, when I struck the final blow on Calamity Ganon ( Urbosa's Fury being the attack ), I whispered, "That one is for Mipha."
What has this game done to me? -_-;
Princess Zelda?
*I sleep*
Mipha who really liked Link?
*I riot to the game developers for not making a route for Mipha x Link relationship*
There's always TotK...
Ngl this cutscene is probably my favourite it always gets to me every time I watch it so sad but beautiful
Sometimes I watch this at night just to see if it still makes me cry. Have yet to have not cried
This is my favorite cutscene, even compared to Zelda crying in links arms. There’s something about mipha that I just adore
I'm struggling. On one hand, I get emotional and sad watching this, but at the same time, I get into fit of laughter when I think of when the Game Grumps played this game
At this point Nintendo should just create another Timeline where Mipha lives, gets married to Link and so on. Zelda's timeline is already ludicrous.
First Ruto, now Mipha. Link is getting all the fish ladies!
Anybody wanna make a legend of zelda variant of fish friday?
This cutscene always gets me in the feels
I was a big Zelink fan but after this I love the idea of Link/Mipha.
They were lovers.
Soohable HA! omg you soooo hilarious 😌 please tell me some more of your bullshit
You tell me more about that fangirl-ish, hyper-defensive stance.
why don't you go and play all of the legend of Zelda games and tell me how they are lovers ok? Bye bye~😉
Sorry, not sorry
who else cried when you found out mipha died
Mipha is the sweetest .....
Mipha, this is sweet and all, but your 'hair' is clipping through your shoulder.
...Ganon, come here. I JUST wanna talk. We're JUST gonna talk about what you did, Ganon. Nevermind why I have a power drill and a welding iron, I JUST wanna talk. Come here Ganon... GANON... COME... HERE!!!
"Mipha's Grace is now ready."
Mipha knew that Link liked Zelda, so when she said “anyone” she knew that if Zelda hurt link or it didn’t work out she would welcome Link back in with loving arms. Mipha really is a pure soul 😭
I always loved Zora, my favourite zelda race and maybe one of my favourite video game races, so this romance is top tier ❤️
How much luminous stone have i donated/sold to the Zoras and only the Zoras now? How about... ALL OF IT! TAKE IT! Out of sheer love and respect for the Zoras, and of course for poor Mipha.
Mipha, to this day is still the best champion.
Change my mind.
Hey bro !! I have a mission for you, there is a spanish channel called "hyrule tv", you can go there in the "community" part and there will be a poll where you can vote for Mipha! Right now she is in second place..
Mipha is adorble. One of the few girls I wanted Link to be with other than Zelda.
... i wouldve loved the option to wed with Mipha ;~;
If only this were Fire Emblem where you push two people in a room when one gets a great skill and say,
"Alright, time to make babies."
@@asherville7163 XD
I just picture Link with her spirit, after 100 years and his memory gone, looking into her eyes and saying...
"...was...was I good man?"
DoubleAJB 😂😂😂
I love Mipha so much. She is so brave and kind🥺
VladNorris hit the nail on the head with that one
“Zora and Hylians can’t be together.”
Mipha: Nah.
I gave Waterblight Ganon an epic beat down because of this.
As you should. You just gotta after what he did...
I'm not crying I just.... I'm crying
Mipha is like the Rem of this game.. *cries like a weeaboo*
"cries in japanese"
This becomes so much more sad when you realize Mipha died alone inside the Divine Beast at the hands of Ganon. She must've been terrified. ='(
