Thanks for all likes and comments. It's fun reading your opinions. I did a new video with every cutscene (almost 2 hours) in the game, hope you will enjoy it as well: goo.gl/XkNsbL
Alyssa Pellegrino Zelda is ..."human". she isn't perfect all the time and I personally like that they showed that here. was it a kind reaction? no. but I do get where she's coming from. it's less about Link himself and more about her feeling frustrated in general as well as being angry at her father for thinking she needs an escort. so mostly, misplaced anger.
Actually, she's Hylian and Hylia reborn. She's the first incarnation to be rude, arrogant, and selfish. I do like that she is different and has her own struggles, though. It's adds a bit more to the usual gameplay of Link's struggles.
Heather H that's why I said "human". I meant it as a figure of speech. I know she's Hylian. 😂 also how is she selfish exactly? she spent literally the first 17 years of her life dedicated to protecting her people to the point where she was harming herself...
Link in his head: Hate... let me tell you how much I've come to hate you since I had the displeasure of knowing you. There are over 99,999,999,999 rupees in my wallet from every time line that I have ever existed. if I were to write the word hate and line up every last one of those rupees from here to the heavens and Beyond the city in the sky where even the twilight and the goddess can see it. as well as including every last collectible item I had to suffer through to collect for saving you and this worthless excuse for a kingdom because your cumbersome excuse for leadership in different timelines and different worlds. it would not even equal one-one billionth of the amount I hate for you for a micro instant. for you... hate... HATE
I like how Link and Zelda's relationship grow throughout the memories, even though Link doesn't say a single word. The power of *listening to a friends problems.*
26:28 is probably my favorite moment. The sheer sadness on Zelda’s face and the fact that Link being so closed off is open and comforting to her in this time of need is just so beautiful
@@El.Gatito. I think Link was just comforting her because she's sad and everything's gone to shit. Though in BOTH2 he could grow more romantic feelings for her
"The Silent Princess is a rare endangered species." Me, remembering that I always picked them up from their peaceful homes so That I could make stealth potions I never use effectively meaning I'm the reason they are endangered: ....cool
Mipha: The cute fishy lady Urbosa: The thicc badass lightning lady Revali: The bragging birdie man (ravioli) Daruk: Your potato best friend Link: the hero everyone’s thirsty for Zelda: The chick who wants you to eat frogs
I like how they developed Zelda in this, and I also liked how she was a traveling companion in Spirit Tracks. Maybe that will be the case in Breath of the Wild 2.
i’m pretty sure the other ones had their mother to teach them the ways to be Zelda. This one is trying to learn on her own, no mother. It’s a lot on her chest when she knows ganon is approaching
This game actually gives zelda a personality and makes her feel a lot more realistic than other games as for link hes bound by his knights code to not show emotion or talk unless given permission
for those of you who are bothered by Link's apparent lack of emotions, how about this? He is a knight. He is officially recognized as a knight, in fact really THE knight of hyrule. Knights, like in real life, are expected to be silent and show little emotion, it's basically part of their job description. It's demanded that they remain silent and professional in any situation (unless commanded otherwise for whatever reason), especially in the presence of a Royal family member. so I guess you can use that as an explanation for his stoicness. Of course, the meta explanation would be that he's the avatar, but I feel the first reasoning works well enough. :) *EDIT:* Apparently, according to Zelda's diary, Link is so reserved and silent because of the responsibility he holds, and the fact that everyone looks up to him as the chosen hero, it pressured him in such a way that he feels as though he should stay strong and silently withstand any and all hardships that comes his way. The burden of his destiny limited his ability of expression. That's actually pretty deep.
Nathania Benita just cause he's supposed to be stoic and silent doesn't mean he's any more relatable or interesting. It's just uncanny watching literally everyone showing emotion and link stands there, silent. He could at least smile or tear up, SOMETHING.
"With so much at stake, and so many eyes upon him, he feels it necessary to stay strong and to silently bear any burden". Damn.... yeah that's how I feel sometimes...
Jonathan Pinera It is really quite jarring, yes... However, there are some moments where he has certain subtle expressions, and I find them very interesting to examine!
IM OBSESSED WITH WATCHING ZELDA SOB INTO LINK'S ARMS BECAUSE HE JUST HOLDS HER AND ITS THE CUTEST THING EVEN THOUGH SHES CRYING HE SEEMS SO CONCERNED FOR HER
You can actually see his expressions change in between memories if you're good at looking! He sort of frowns when he's holding Zelda, and it's the cutest thing. He also look sort of surprised when Zelda asks him where did he come from on the memory with Urbosa, and confused when she explodes with anger on him. On the new DLC memories, on the photo memory, he smiles! Yes, he smiles! It's a hard one to find, but if you manage to find his mouth corners, he really does a lil smile before daruk slams them all together. Love those nice touches. AAAAALSO, IN THE JAPANESE VERSION HE HAS A FIRST-PERSON DIARY! Some people on reddit translated it, and it got quite big, so it shouldn't be hard to find on your own. He basically writes how he's nervous about recovering the master sword, but gets reassured she's proud of him when he finishes the master trials. "I need to save Zelda as quickly as I can, for I wish to see her smile once more with my own eyes." Is one of the quotes I remember. tl;dr: Link loves Zelda and he's an adorable bastard
I see everyone is shocked about Link killing two Lynels and like 20 bokos, but look again. It's actually THREE LYNELS he actually killed. With only a sword while protecting the princess. He's got to be the strongest Link. Except for his swimming ability.
@@tuilleri He's not the "original" Link--the original is the one from Skyward Sword. Aside from that, good point. OoT/MM Link is definitely the most tragic one, too.
This is the first game in which is Zelda the one who has to do something to deserve her power instead of Link. Link has the Master Sword from the very beginning, yet Zelda has to go through a lot of challenges to get her holy power. The formula just got reversed for these two in this game, which is a nice change. Now we need a game in which we can see how both Link and Zelda must gain their powers.
Dude so wrong first of all Link does not have the master sword from the beginning. You have to earn it. First you have to navigate through the lost woods, then you have to have 13 full heart containers to pull it up from the ground. And you start the game with shit your basically naked. In order for link to get his powers you have to defeat the Divine beast and in order to have weapons, money, armor and power ups you have to scavenge around the world, defeat enemies and explore adound for them. Your not given anything in the game, so NO the roles were definately not reversed in this game IDK where you came up with that.
@@gabrielanthony1129 He's talking about the story of the game. About the Link in the memories flashbacks because Link had already it before all that happened and before playing him. And Zelda (in their memories) is struggling to get her power, she has not her power from the start like in the others games. He's not talking about the part where we play as Link when he's awakened.
Everyone is over here talking about Zelda's voice and her development but I'm over here focused on Mipha's expression when Revali started talking shit about link. Mipha looked ready to fry that bird's ass quicker than Colonel Sanders.
Wow, this incarnation of Princess Zelda really is complex. I love her character development and how she has to struggle at first with not understanding her own role and identity, not to mention the strength she shows by pushing through even after losing everything... They did a good job with her this time. I'm also surprised by how much I like her voice in English. I wasn't all that impressed when I watched the trailer, but it's grown on me. She's proven that she can portray a variety of different emotions quite well. And can I just say I love how we hear the sound Fi makes in Skyward Sword whenever the sword glows while Link is unconscious? That's just one thing I happened to notice randomly, but I really enjoy the little nods they've added from previous Zelda games.
I like how she is seemingly a burden among the Champions and then when her power awakens, taking out tons of guardians within one strike and eventually becomes the very last hope of Hyrule. Through the gameplay i've assumed that the huge amount of guardian debris in the field must be the work of Hyrule armies 100 years ago, only to realize that Zelda alone managed to take all the guardians. That cutscene makes a good contrast of how Link in the game has to struggle to take one guardian by carefully dodging and parrying lasers.
abc2390986 idk why but im crying reading your comment. I've been a fan for her in this game. but people keep seeing it the other way around and said that she's so bad in character development and so weak, you name it. the fact there's someone who appreciate her makes me feels warm. thank you so much and sorry for weird english
Noticed it?? When I first saw it I was on the verge of tears before then, and when I heard Fi, I completely lost it, ugly crying and everything. The end of Skyward Sword had me blubbering, this brought it all back. I missed fi, however annoying companions like her or Navi or Midna were. This game is amazing, but Link is so alone.. Everyone he knew is old and dying or dead. Besides Zelda, but we never play with Zelda. It made me so sad Link never gets to hear the sword.
"There's a fine line between courage and recklessness!" *Looks out over field covered with dozens of corpses, including Lynels* Umm... I don't think that either word describes what just happened, Zelda. I think the term you're looking for is 'pure badassery'.
Theory: When Mipha is trying to give advice to Zelda in order to help her channel her powers and embarrassedly says at 23:17 "I was thinking about what I do when I'm healing. You know what usually goes through my mind" then she is interrupted--- I think she was going to suggest that Zelda channel her powers by thinking of the person she loves most(Link) Then later when Zelda and Link are being attacked by the machines and one points it's laser directly at Link she gets in the way in order to protect Link and her power is released for the first time. Maybe she thought of how she didn't want the person she loves most, Link, to die then that caused her powers to be awakened. Just pointing that out in case you Zelda x Link shippers missed it😆 I might be reading too deep into the lines, but that's just what I got from all the scenes
I think you're right. *SPOILERS* When you do all of Kass's side quests his last song specifically talks about the last memory and mentions how "The princess's love for her fallen knight awakens her power".
I love how when Calamity awakens and Zelda says "It's awake, Gannon." Link freaking smiles! HE SMILES! I imagine in his head he's thinking: "OH THIS SUCKA GOIN' DOWN!"
first memory...Zelda briefly mentions how the sword and the hero will grow together AS ONE. That might include memories which explains the last one; it's the memory from the sword... PS: It's weird that a sword has a memory but otherwise, dunno
The way he fails his duty as a knight in order to comfort her is amazing! He may be silent, but he has a huge heart.... And they way she cried into his chest after he died was emotional....
It shows it goes beyond just appointed knight and the princess he was assigned to protect. Link and Zelda were very close.....and the it's stated Zelda was in love with Link. The Japanese verison added even further as the Shekiah Slates entries were Link's diary entries...and as you get more memories of Zelda...it gains more heavy romantic undertones.....implying he liked her back.....from what I know from translations and such.
I like how every champion has their own unique personality and Zelda actually has character development. Neat to know the new game's actually pushing boundaries and not just copying old storylines.
Sadie N. Maybe Zelda just references the other planes of existence relative to their own. Well, the "Legend of Zelda" must be a common legend in Hyrule nowadays 😂 or at least the Hylian Royal Family of Hyrule must have known that since the very start of the kingdom of Hyrule.
Did anyone notice how in the frog-catching scene, when Zelda gets all sad and upset at the thought of the disappearing 'Silent Princess' flowers, Link actually hesitantly starts to reach out to her before she gasps and notices the frog (to which Link jumps in surprise and pulls his arm away)? Although I'm personally a Link x Mipha shipper, it's the little things like that that make me think the relationship Link and Zelda gradually develop throughout the game is really nice and cute :)
@@emanatingauras4017 My brother and I are both convinced he was actually low-key based on Falco intentionally as a bit of a little joke from the devs. He's got the blue feathers and a very similar personality/cocky attitude.
Me too!!! I like how she tries her best to be of use to everyone because she cant activate her power, by studying about the divine beasts and guardians! 😀
Wo Long Thats because her mother died early, and no one taught her how to use her powers, which is why she has insecurities toward Link, who is doing well on the path he is destined to follow. I think youd be emotional too if you were told your destiny, but do not know how to pursue it
MrAyeSir other Zelda’s: Link, you’re a destiny kid and you need this sword thing to kill this Gerudo thing. This Zelda: Eat the frog! It will (science stuff) you!
You know in the “Making of a Champion” book, Zeldas journey is detailed with a map. She was near Hateno village on the field, then made her way to the Lost Woods ON FOOT before walking to Hyrule castle and made her way through the docks up to the top floor and sealed Ganon. That woman is a trooper. Not only was she injured and scaresly clad in some cermonial dress. She snuck past all the monsters, traversed enemy territory and did it all ON FOOT no horses no fast travel, she walked that entire trip on flipflops. This game more then ever made me respect and love Zelda
Yeah I love this Zelda a lot. She can hold her own but it took a bit to get her to realize that. I think that’s what made her the most realistic and relatable Zelda in all of the games, because seeing her go through a struggle I think a lot of us go through made us connect with her better.
@Ben Fetchak Because Link was RIGHT THERE 😂 I don’t think she knew love was the answer to her awakening and I don’t think that was the right time to admit it.
Seemingly unpopular opinion(?): I adore Zelda's voice in this game. I was skeptical when I first heard it in the trailer, but I think it fits her character perfectly and has a very princess-like sophistication. Not to mention her excellent emotional performance. The king, on the other hand...ugh...
CvNixAur Yeah, the king was...iffy. Another unpopular opinion too: I thought Mipha's voice actress wasn't that great because she sounded too monotone. But I agree that Zelda's actress did great!
heroine_of_ time I absolutely agree. Although I liked how Mipha's voice fit with her character, she did come off a little inexpressive most of the time. Overall I liked most of the English voices, though.
GamingExtraordinary I'd guess cos she's a princess and people tend to link that to England where there still are Princesses and stuff. Also it sounds more medieval esque maybe.
Hylian Yoshi 64 Everything in Adventure Time reminds of Zelda to be honest which is why I love this show so much, even the villain the lich has many incarnations like ganon
I love this version of zelda, must more complex and interesting than some of the past ones... I just wish they'd given the game a proper ending to suit how well they built her up.
carlotta4th But they did, in a way. She fulfilled her duty, for 100 years, the only thing stopping Ganon from breaking free. She achieved the destiny of her birthright and defied the belief of people that she was a failure of a princess. She, and Link, helped lay her father’s the the champion’s souls to rest. And with the whole thing over, her powers lessened, she can finally live the life she wanted to live as a scholar and along with Link she can rebuild Hyrule to its glory. Felt pretty wrapped up to me, outside of showing a massively distant (but forgone) epilogue of post-rebuilding. Well, that’s how I see it.
Doctor Demonetized when you think about it, it’s so funny ! Hey, your family, your friends, the Champions and your "crush" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) died on your birthday ! Do you like your gift ?
I seriously think Zelda is in love with Link and her love for him is what activates her powers each time. 1) When Mipha was telling Zelda that when she uses her healing power, before she was interrupted by Ganon, I think Mipha was trying to say that she thinks about someone she loves (Link) 2) when Zeldas message for Link under the Deku tree is obviously "I love you" 3) when zeldas power literally only works when she's around Link or is trying to protect Link
I think my favorite memory is the one where Link saves Zelda from the Yiga. If you read Zelda's diary in the castle, she thought he hated her. She thought his silence meant he couldn't stand being around her. And then, he swoops in at the last possible moment and -quite literally- single-handedly saves the day, proving that he does care. His job is to protect Zelda, and he's gonna do it if it kills him. Also in that scene, not a word is spoken and yet there's so much emotion
When you see the link getting his cut taken care of by zelda and see the tons of dead monsters and tons of dead lynels im like "welp whoever played link is pro"
TLDR; Link has a backstory and subtle emotions, Zelda was interesting. Love the story. ----- I wrote this originally in response to a comment saying that Link was emotionless, but my reply got too embarrassingly long. Just want to say, compared to other entries, Link is less comical and expressive (to fit the atmosphere of BOTW), however I wouldn't call him completely emotionless. There's body language and cinematic direction showing Link's emotions and the back story between the lines. Nitpicking on details I loved and pointing out the blocking: 1:32 Link's eyes are not shown as everyone is literally looking down on him. 2:28 Link looks pissed and he backs off a bit from Revali as if intimidated 2:45 Here too when Revali makes fun of the Master sword. 3:35 Eyes wandering distracted as he's trailing Zelda like a dog from behind. Shows their relationship isn't good. 5:23 Obv Daruk's a big bro. 7:46 His derpy walk, like okay tantrum's over. I'm still following you. 9:59 it's comical how their eyes meet. 11:17 First time speaking eye to eye, sitting side by side. 12:09 Interest in the Sheikah slate 12:43 Interest in what Zelda's saying, compared to 3:35 13:52: Interest in Mipha saying he looks grown up now. 15:32 Surprise at Zelda's compliment 15:41 Derpy self-satisfaction in contrast to Zelda's insecurity 16:40 Changed relationship as equals compared to the first cutscene. 16:48 Face down staring at the floor when the king of Hyrule appears. You can't see his eyes for the rest of the cutscene. 19:24 Listening to Zelda intently 20:25 First time riding side by side 23:40 Surprise as he's trying to catch Zelda 24:09 Excited that Ganon woke up, in contrast to Zelda's horror 24:35 Slight nod as yes 26:26 Concern, note in the JP, the emphasis is on everyone dying rather than her personal failure, cuing Zelda's hysteric sobs. 26:33 Surprise 27:12 Pushes Zelda off, also of note in the JP version, rather than "save yourself" here, Zelda says along the lines of "it's enough, I beg you...even if it's only you... run!" 27:27 The Guardian beam remains directed straight at Link's heart. 28:07 Dies while staring into her eyes. Of note, in the JP, Zelda begs twice "don't die..." rather than EN "you're going to be just fine." So in between the lines, there's this story of a somewhat ordinary boy, son of a knight. He's a bit reckless, eager to fight, and a bit stubborn. He gets picked for this great duty, for which everyone puts great pressure on him. "It's a great honor, you know". Take down Ganon at the final moment, look after the Princess until then, and save Hyrule. Revali looks down on him, Mipha adores him, and Daruk believes in him. At first, shadowing Zelda is more of a duty. He follows from behind, is kinda distracted when she's babbling. Eventually Zelda gets sick of him and runs off on her own. (In a nod to past titles) Link chases down her to different locations. Catches up to her (again) at Urbosa's. There he listens about Zelda's past struggles, possibly starts to personally respect Zelda. Saves Zelda from the mobs, earning Zelda's respect. They sit side by side chatting. The rest of the journey is more intimate, i.e. frog incident. Side trip to Mipha shows that Link's close to her, where he's noticably less stiff and more relaxed. During their travels, Zelda compliments his sword skills and acknowledges him, making him proud, but revealing her own insecurities. He's fully taken on his role and the Master Sword. Now he's friends with Zelda, but still just a lowly knight in front of the king. Listens to Zelda's worries and hopes. Tries to catch and support her, literally and metaphorically. Looks outright excited when Ganon wakes up. Dies defending Zelda. I feel that the typical Zelda would have followed that story to it's happy conclusion and appreciated the twist of BOTW following Link and Zelda's utter failure (seriously, if she could have sealed Ganon, EVERYONE and the kingdom would still be alive). In every iteration, Zelda flawlessly inherits her powers, so this complicated more cerebral scientific Zelda was really interesting. She's skeptical of the magical spirit powers, starts out resentful of Link, and struggles against her destiny. Also the narrative structure of Link remembering the past (or optionally going straight to Ganon, due to his "courage") and freeing Zelda was different. In a twist, BOTW is not about Link's journey and how he was supported to defeat Ganon, but more how Link saved everyone by redeeming the past and allowing the spirits to move on (nod to MM?). The ending isn't shown here so I won't spoil it. Amazing game and worth four years. :) The story isn't perfect and has it's flaws, but I enjoyed the slight twist on tradition nevertheless. This comment probably will be buried and not read, still, Ty for uploading! :D
General prevailing theory when it comes to Zelda's powers is that BECAUSE Rhoam was such a stickler for tradition and wanted it done HIS way, Zelda had a hard time manifesting them, compared to other Zeldas who did what they felt was right and had an easier time accessing their power as a result. The lesson? Don't force someone to be somebody they're not.
20:08 I feel bad for Link here. He hears Zeldas plea and brakes his formal stance to turn and see whats wrong. He wants to help, but there is nothing he can do at that moment. All he can do is be with her. He feels pretty bad. Poor guy.
For being the first Zelda game to have fully fledged voice acting, it did a very good job if you ask me. I LOVE almost every one of the performances and I feel actually giving the characters speaking lines helped fleshed them out a bit more and helped made the cutscenes feel more grand and exciting. That's what I think at least.
“Tell him I...” “Now then Words intended for him would sound much better in the Tones of your voice” ME: Are you kidding me!? You give link this memory, therefore if you hadn’t interrupted Zelda! She would have said it! it would have been in the tone of her voice! And Link would have gotten the message! We all know she was going to say “I love him!” WHY NINTENDO!?
Zelda should consider herself lucky that she didn't get into that shrine. Good god that was a nightmare of a shrine until I figured out how to properly dodge.
ghostko1235 well the shrines where still sealed in the past since none of the towers were active, except the resurrection one. So the shrines may have had a small guardian around for defense.
ghostko1235 the shrines were made as a trial for the chosen hero. When the hero enters the shrine those guardians were made specifically to test his strength. That’s why the guardians in the shrines shine orange instead of that purple, pink, and reddish colors. The orange symbolizes they are normal and the pink color symbolizes they are possessed by Ganon.
The monks took control of those guardians and keep them for their own uses. That is why the guardians in shrines glow orange instead of red. The Ones corrupted by Ganon glow red, but the ones under the monks' control glow orange.
i know its the unpopular opinion but i really like Zelda's voice actress. In the beginning she has that naiv and arrogant tone and in the end she sounds way more mature. Very nice to see Zelda have actual character development in this game.
Anyone else notice how Zelda has her face pressed up against Link's and her arms wrapped around him in the last memory? She really didn't realize how much she loved him until that moment he was about to die.
It only just occurred to me....Hyrule, her father and everyone else who she cared about (Except Link) DIED on her 17th Birthday. That is a REALLY low blow Nintendo.
His job has been with Zelda for quite a long time, and he kind of acts like a guardian for her (I mean Zelda might like link but link is in his twenties and Zelda is seventeen), and acts as the person she is with the most just because of his job
@@BisexualPlagueDoctor , no, Link is of her age, exactly the same age, 17, and besides, a few years difference is also normal, but this is not the case, and it's not just because his job, it's clear, like in the memory with the frog they were also just fooling around, and the one with Zelda crying, if he was just going to do his job as a knight, he would have made her stand up and he would have continued running with her no matter what, because they were in danger, and he risked being in danger and putting themselves in danger to hear Zelda and comfort her, because it isn't just his job, he clearly cares very deeply for her, doing his job and having as his job being her knight attendant doesn't makes any of that impossible or impossible for him to have feelings for her and for the "protect Zelda" thing to be more than just his job, which clearly is, it clearly is much more than his job, his job and his feelings go together and relate, when you really care deeply for someone and love someone you want to protect them and be there for them, protect their life and also offer emotional support and comfort
11:15 ... ok. This... I can't... dude! Link beat all these guys, with only the master sword, ONLY. and he did this with probably not even full hearts and he survived with barely a scratch on him! ... it's not recklessness. It's Pure Badassery
The post credit cutscene should have been were Zelda tells Link that she likes him then 😱 Link does a Voice act and says ''i love you too Princess" and then They both kiss and watch the Sunset who agrees with me
I just realized this but when Zelda is giving that speech to link in that first memory, she is referencing other Zelda games! “Whether skyward bound (skyward sword), adrift in time (ocarina of time), or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight (twilight princess)...” I never noticed it before and I think it’s a nice touch.
Personally what i think is that what Mipha was going to say before the calamity appeared was she thinks about who the ones she loves and cares about when she is healing, possibly being the reason to her power and right before Links death Zelda thought about Link, the one who has helped and done everything he could for her, and realized he was more than just her 'appointed knight' and that she loved him and thinking about him and losing him sparked her power. As she thought about who she loved and cared about, just like Mipha did.
10:18 For some reason this is the most satisfying scene to me. The way Zelda almost completely gives up on her life. The way Link slices the Yiga’s throat. The way it shows how Zelda reacts to Link saving her life. Her expression tells me everything I need to know.
Speaking of which, the sound effects while the sword is glowing is almost identical to the sound effects in skyward sword while Fi pops out, plus in the deku tree scene, Zelda says,'Your *MASTER* will come and find you...'(Sth like that) Which obviously is what Fi treats at Link.(Treating Link as her/its master) So does that mean this Master sword is the one in skyward sword?🤔 (I am new to zelda dun quote me on that)
As a new Zelda fan(and noob), yes, I do know about the time line, I know Skyward Sword is the very beginning of the Zelda series, and one thing I know is that Breath of the Wild possibly occurs at the child timeline, certainly after Twilight Princess, as princess Zelda mention about the Hero of Twilight. The thing I want to point out is that the Master Sword might not be not the one in Twilight Princess, because it didn't do such a thing in Twilight Princess. Sooo... the Master Sword in Breath of the Wild might be the same sword in Skyward Sword, but how...? Is there more than one Master Sword? Or maybe Fi didn't wake up in Twilight Princess? And how on earth did Link get the Master Sword from Skyward Sword? (Sorry if this doesn't make any sense)
+The252Hero There's only one Master Sword. In the end of SS, Fi says "she" will be entering an eternal slumber. We all recognized this as an explanation for why the Master Sword never speaks in any game that takes place later in the timeline. BotW kind of contradicts this, but other games have also contradicted this "eternal slumber" of Fi by insinuating that the Master Sword actively chooses who gets to wield it. Btw, one thing that speaks against BotW taking place in the child timeline is that in BotW the history of the Zoras mention Ruto having been awakened as a sage, which never happened in the child timeline.
Zelda: Tell father I dont need and escourt Me: err... link can't speak Zelda: the silent princess is a rare endangered species Me: they respawn every time I visit old deku.
Nashiro Mations actually he can. He just doesn’t around the players of the game because of what happens to him. Silent is his best way to deal with it. Read Zelda’s diary and listen to the memory’s. Zelda writes in her diary that he does speak around her alone. And also he gave her advice on how to ride the horse
Watching this makes me wonder more than ever: Why would you willingly name your kid Zelda or Link in this world?? Reason 1: giving them those names implies you think the world is going to go to hell by the time they hit puberty. Reason 2: Those names carry a mountain of expectations with them. We see it here: "You're Princess Zelda. You're supposed to be the avatar of the Goddess and manifest legendary powers. Get on with the manifesting!!"
n00bplayer for Zelda, it's stated that all female in the royal family are to be named Zelda. For link, you've always been able to name the hero in the game until breath of the wild cuz of voice acting and stuff
n00bplayer up until this game they had no idea about the past games of the timelines but it's true now knowing about them abd still call them by the names
Vania Saragih i even think zelda has been used before this game series even existed. as an example, f. scott fitzgereld’s wife was named zelda (this guy wrote the great gatsby). its such a pretty name! i wasnt aware robin named his daughter that.
The cutscenes in this game blow most Hollywood movies out of the water. Hell, most video games in general have better stories than most Hollywood movies.
Thanks for all likes and comments. It's fun reading your opinions.
I did a new video with every cutscene (almost 2 hours) in the game, hope you will enjoy it as well: goo.gl/XkNsbL

Finally a Zelda game in which Zelda isn't a superior wise being without any personality shortcomings.
I always felt that most Zeldas had somewhat serious shortcomings
I like how they developed Zelda in this, and I also liked how she was a traveling companion in Spirit Tracks. Maybe that will be the case in Breath of the Wild 2.
what abt spirit tracks??
i’m pretty sure the other ones had their mother to teach them the ways to be Zelda.
*EDIT:* Apparently, according to Zelda's diary, Link is so reserved and silent because of the responsibility he holds, and the fact that everyone looks up to him as the chosen hero, it pressured him in such a way that he feels as though he should stay strong and silently withstand any and all hardships that comes his way. The burden of his destiny limited his ability of expression. That's actually pretty deep.
There's actual an in-game explanation why Link is so stoic and emotionless in this game. Read Zelda's diary, its very revealing.
Nathania Benita just cause he's supposed to be stoic and silent doesn't mean he's any more relatable or interesting. It's just uncanny watching literally everyone showing emotion and link stands there, silent. He could at least smile or tear up, SOMETHING.
Zephyr Oh cool, I didn't know that! Thanks for the tip guys!
IM OBSESSED WITH WATCHING ZELDA SOB INTO LINK'S ARMS BECAUSE HE JUST HOLDS HER AND ITS THE CUTEST THING EVEN THOUGH SHES CRYING HE SEEMS SO CONCERNED FOR HER
Lindsey Peterson OMG I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE BC SAME GIRL
Yeah, He is shirking his duty as her knight to just...Listen to her. And comfort her. Which is what she really needed.

@@tuilleri no, he isn't. oot/mm link is a reincarnation of ss link
The sequel is coming and we will further see their relationship! People are also saying that theres a chance we have a choice to play as zelda.
@@gabrielanthony1129 Link doesn't need to get any of that though. He can simoly go to the castle and end Ganon there

Supreme Overlorde I cried when she was crying over the deaths of the champions and her father and how she failed them. that cut scene was feels.
Supreme Overlorde You actually liked Fi's sound? For me, it just brings back bad memories, even though Skyward Sword was my favourite.
abc2390986 idk why but im crying reading your comment.

Theory:
When Mipha is trying to give advice to Zelda in order to help her channel her powers and embarrassedly says at 23:17 "I was thinking about what I do when I'm healing. You know what usually goes through my mind" then she is interrupted--- I think she was going to suggest that Zelda channel her powers by thinking of the person she loves most(Link)
Then later when Zelda and Link are being attacked by the machines and one points it's laser directly at Link she gets in the way in order to protect Link and her power is released for the first time. Maybe she thought of how she didn't want the person she loves most, Link, to die then that caused her powers to be awakened.
Just pointing that out in case you Zelda x Link shippers missed it😆 I might be reading too deep into the lines, but that's just what I got from all the scenes

TheBestUsernameInTheFrigginUniverse but the Master Sword aka Fi, was.
first memory...Zelda briefly mentions how the sword and the hero will grow together AS ONE. That might include memories which explains the last one; it's the memory from the sword...
PS: It's weird that a sword has a memory but otherwise, dunno
Sagal137 Fi exists
The way he fails his duty as a knight in order to comfort her is amazing! He may be silent, but he has a huge heart.... And they way she cried into his chest after he died was emotional....
YESSSSS
It shows it goes beyond just appointed knight and the princess he was assigned to protect. Link and Zelda were very close.....and the it's stated Zelda was in love with Link. The Japanese verison added even further as the Shekiah Slates entries were Link's diary entries...and as you get more memories of Zelda...it gains more heavy romantic undertones.....implying he liked her back.....from what I know from translations and such.
I like how every champion has their own unique personality and Zelda actually has character development. Neat to know the new game's actually pushing boundaries and not just copying old storylines.
"Whether skyward bound, adrift in time, or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight..."

Maybe Zelda just references the other planes of existence relative to their own.

You know in the “Making of a Champion” book, Zeldas journey is detailed with a map. She was near Hateno village on the field, then made her way to the Lost Woods ON FOOT before walking to Hyrule castle and made her way through the docks up to the top floor and sealed Ganon. That woman is a trooper. Not only was she injured and scaresly clad in some cermonial dress. She snuck past all the monsters, traversed enemy territory and did it all ON FOOT no horses no fast travel, she walked that entire trip on flipflops. This game more then ever made me respect and love Zelda
Maybe she used her sealing powers to deter the guardians she encountered like she did when Link is about to get hit.

And with the whole thing over, her powers lessened, she can finally live the life she wanted to live as a scholar and along with Link she can rebuild Hyrule to its glory. Doctor Demonetized when you think about it, it’s so funny ! Hey, your family, your friends, the Champions and your "crush" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) died on your birthday ! Do you like your gift ?
Taco of TRUTH ye
Well I think the Princess had a good birthday tough just to spend time with link before the calamity struck
5:22
And that's how Link got chronic back pain
Sariel the Iop Why Gorons like to hurt Link in oot they wanted to hug him and he ran away knowing he would fucking die
Sariel the Iop hahaha I laughed so hard
OwO **queue the mortal kombat x-ray thing*
Roy!
He got lumbago
I seriously think Zelda is in love with Link and her love for him is what activates her powers each time.
1) When Mipha was telling Zelda that when she uses her healing power, before she was interrupted by Ganon, I think Mipha was trying to say that she thinks about someone she loves (Link)
2) when Zeldas message for Link under the Deku tree is obviously "I love you"
3) when zeldas power literally only works when she's around Link or is trying to protect Link
Nik Tre
Zelda deep love in link and mipha still love him
Nik Trexler have you read her diary? Everything’s there for you.
Nik Trexler They love eachother
Dam links a player
Nik Trexler I SHIP IT SO MUCH
he gave her the look
HE GAVE HER THE LOOK
*HE GAVE HER THE LOOK*
Edit: guys he gives her the look when he "dies"
When?
WHEEEEEENNNNNNN
??? Yo what?
THE PEOPLE WANT ANSWERS!!!
WHERREAATAT
I think my favorite memory is the one where Link saves Zelda from the Yiga. If you read Zelda's diary in the castle, she thought he hated her. She thought his silence meant he couldn't stand being around her. And then, he swoops in at the last possible moment and -quite literally- single-handedly saves the day, proving that he does care. His job is to protect Zelda, and he's gonna do it if it kills him. Also in that scene, not a word is spoken and yet there's so much emotion
It began as just duty for link but over time he grew fond of zelds and she grew fond of him.
I don't care what anyone says, but I ship zelda and link.
you chose right
Oof & Co. it's the main ship lmao
Me tooo
I like Pirate Ships
YASS
When you see the link getting his cut taken care of by zelda and see the tons of dead monsters and tons of dead lynels im like "welp whoever played link is pro"
Even him couldn't defeat an army of guardians with only a sword and the standard appointed Knight armor.
yea he had no shield, what a scrub
Boomdroneftw Boom But is anyone gonna talk about how he destroyed SEVERAL GUARDIANS in the second to last memory WITHOUT A SHIELD!!???!!
Boomdroneftw Boom could you beat ANY guardians without a shield
He has the guardian leg chopper: The Master Sword.
Zelda: Go on!
Link: uhh...
Zelda: Taste it!!
Link: UHH??
COOK IT FIRST
*Lick it*
Smooch it 😙
*blow it*
Fuck it
TLDR; Link has a backstory and subtle emotions, Zelda was interesting. Love the story.
-----
I wrote this originally in response to a comment saying that Link was emotionless, but my reply got too embarrassingly long. Just want to say, compared to other entries, Link is less comical and expressive (to fit the atmosphere of BOTW), however I wouldn't call him completely emotionless. There's body language and cinematic direction showing Link's emotions and the back story between the lines.
Nitpicking on details I loved and pointing out the blocking:
1:32 Link's eyes are not shown as everyone is literally looking down on him.
2:28 Link looks pissed and he backs off a bit from Revali as if intimidated
2:45 Here too when Revali makes fun of the Master sword.
12:09 Interest in the Sheikah slate
12:43 Interest in what Zelda's saying, compared to 3:35
13:52: Interest in Mipha saying he looks grown up now.
15:32 Surprise at Zelda's compliment
15:41 Derpy self-satisfaction in contrast to Zelda's insecurity
16:40 Changed relationship as equals compared to the first cutscene.
16:48 Face down staring at the floor when the king of Hyrule appears. You can't see his eyes for the rest of the cutscene.
19:24 Listening to Zelda intently
20:25 First time riding side by side
23:40 Surprise as he's trying to catch Zelda
24:09 Excited that Ganon woke up, in contrast to Zelda's horror
24:35 Slight nod as yes
26:26 Concern, note in the JP, the emphasis is on everyone dying rather than her personal failure, cuing Zelda's hysteric sobs.
26:33 Surprise
27:12 Pushes Zelda off, also of note in the JP version, rather than "save yourself" here, Zelda says along the lines of "it's enough, I beg you...even if it's only you... run!"
27:27 The Guardian beam remains directed straight at Link's heart.
28:07 Dies while staring into her eyes. Of note, in the JP, Zelda begs twice "don't die..." rather than EN "you're going to be just fine."
So in between the lines, there's this story of a somewhat ordinary boy, son of a knight.
This comment probably will be buried and not read, still,
Ty for uploading! :D
Chloe Song he's also a Knight as well. With Zelda backing up that Link has all this responsibility that he doesn't want to become a burden
Chloe Song if only more people thought like you
Chloe Song I stopped reading after the time stamps. But I'll give you my like anyways
Chloe Song geez this is one long ass comment, nothing wrong but lol
General prevailing theory when it comes to Zelda's powers is that BECAUSE Rhoam was such a stickler for tradition and wanted it done HIS way, Zelda had a hard time manifesting them, compared to other Zeldas who did what they felt was right and had an easier time accessing their power as a result. The lesson? Don't force someone to be somebody they're not.
People are probably gonna think I'm an idiot for saying this but...
...I actually think the voice acting in this game is pretty good. Even for Zelda
i agree
i actually thought reveal was among the worst, felt so theatrical
Nini This isn't there first time...
DeadlyKenny Are you referring to Hyrule Warriors?
RGS TheBadGamer Wha? I'm talking about Super Mario Sunshine
20:08 I feel bad for Link here. He hears Zeldas plea and brakes his formal stance to turn and see whats wrong. He wants to help, but there is nothing he can do at that moment. All he can do is be with her. He feels pretty bad. Poor guy.
Bruh she nearly cried because of a flower and then immediately started talking about eating frogs
“Tell him I...”
“Now then Words intended for him would sound much better in the Tones of your voice”
ME: Are you kidding me!? You give link this memory, therefore if you hadn’t interrupted Zelda! She would have said it! it would have been in the tone of her voice! And Link would have gotten the message! We all know she was going to say “I love him!” WHY NINTENDO!?
Hopefully they'll just say it in the sequel
Tell him I... don't need an escort. And stop following me.
Genna lol 😂
Cmon! Duh!
Exactly
God damn you Nintendo
Links death scene got me right in the feels. I've watched it over and over and I still get the same feelings.
Imagine wearing what's basically a toga for 100 years like Zelda.
The resurrection shrine was not made by Sheikas, it was made by the girl in the Akkala science lab
IKR
ghostko1235 the shrines were made as a trial for the chosen hero.
I agree.
Anyone else notice how Zelda has her face pressed up against Link's and her arms wrapped around him in the last memory? She really didn't realize how much she loved him until that moment he was about to die.
U just made me cry
I think it’s like that with every two people in a relationship with the possibility of death.
Zelda: ur going to be just fine :0
Link: IM NOT FINE B- *Dies*
That scene was cute
Zelda: “tell him i-“
Mipha’s ghost: “dont you dare finish that sentence.”
Bruh I'd like to see this happen
"don't do it. I'm sick of hearing it."
I don’t know if it would be a good or bad thing if she finished that sentence
Mipha be like: so you have chosen death 💀
I DIEDDD WITH THESE COMMENTSSSS
Everyone be like: Tell me this and that Link
Link: ._.
Stinkin Weeb lmfao
King of Hyrule: Your silence speaks a thousand words
Link: '^'
Let this poor man rest
Amy For one hundred years, at least!
Link: *hyah hya yah yah toyyahh*
>translation
please allow me to do my job in peace
After watching those cutscenes you will confirm that breath of the wild is the best Zelda game.
BeardBear quite possibly the best game?
sorry but this game have the best gameplay in series.
Considering it has over 120 dungeons and endless references to previous games, I gotta ask if you actually know a single thing about this game.
if almost every review was 10/10, and you think its terrible, than i dont know the true meaning of terrible.
You again?! Why are you here? If you hate this game so much, why are you hanging around here?
Zelda: as brave as you are that does not make you immortal
Link: Dies 100 times (Me playing lmao)
Link: Uhh i think i am
Dammit did zamasu from dragon ball super take over link’s body? Cuz it explains why he’s immortal
@Princess Zelda he died to gain the power of immortality
It only just occurred to me....Hyrule, her father and everyone else who she cared about (Except Link) DIED on her 17th Birthday. That is a REALLY low blow Nintendo.
Well technically link died as well just not as permanently as the rest.
Technically Link did die, he just got, well, resurrected in the shrine of resurrection
Well I mean Impa didn’t die
Wind waker link had his sister stolen on his birthday. Ganondorf's thieving never ends.
*"can you hear it yet hero?*
yes i'm out of battery
"can you hear it yet, hero?"
yes, it says I have slain 151 bokobolins.
ryan yan
**The Master Sword is almost out of energy.**

The moment she fell in love with him. Watch her pupils dilate as the scene ends.
Burke Boydell well yeah he's hot
Thx i have a crush on him too
Well , it is said that whenever you see someone that you like , your pupil increases than the normal size .
YO ATTENTION TO DETAIL STRONG THERE
“As brave as you are, that does Not mean you are immortal”
Me: B-But i got save files..
Link’s got save files, teleportation, fairies, and now Mipha’s Grace. Zelda, *are you sure Link’s not immortal?*
500 baked apples in my pocket
@@Howlingburd19 Also don’t ignore the fact he can ignore the laws of physics so at this point I think Link is a god.
Miss I have every single champion ability
-Me to Zelda
@@Celeste4922Isn’t he quite literally the avatar of the goddess of courage?
you can really see it in Link’s eyes how much he cared for her 🥺
@Sofia Benites yes 💯🔥💯
He loves his Zelda 😍
Or from the amount of stress she puts on him. Women are stressful asfffff, it’s hard being a lesbian sometimes
11:15 ... ok. This... I can't... dude! Link beat all these guys, with only the master sword, ONLY. and he did this with probably not even full hearts and he survived with barely a scratch on him! ... it's not recklessness. It's Pure Badassery
I'm just surprised he survived fighting three silver Lynels.
Joker he probably flurry rushed
Meanwhile I as link got killed by a single blue bokoblin halfway throufh the game twice
This really sets the tone for a hyrule warriors prequel to fit well, link was so strong he was just slaughtering foes.
Not only that, but he likely only has 13 hearts and 8 points of defense. Savage Lynels can and will one shot that.
10:52-11:05
Zelda falls in love with Link. Who else is screaming for 😂? Let me here it!
MatchMaker Amethyst huzah!!
bulletproofman323 i love that shout of yours.
MatchMaker Amethyst yeah
The post credit cutscene should have been were Zelda tells Link that she likes him then 😱 Link does a Voice act and says ''i love you too Princess" and then They both kiss and watch the Sunset who agrees with me
IM CRYINGGGGGG SJWJWJJWJSKSKKWKWHELP
Voice Acting was definetly the best fucking idea ever! Zelda's character is so well done.
I had so much confidence. It wasn't good.
IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!!
So many people complain about the voice acting, but it's actually really good. Even Mipha's voice fits the character, since she has a shy personality.
I think people are just super butt hurt that she wasn't an eagle flying, apple pie eating gun toating american!
DatSniperBietch Finally! Someone likes Zelda's voice actor! I thought I was alone...
I also LOVE her voice acting, it was AMAZING
I just realized this but when Zelda is giving that speech to link in that first memory, she is referencing other Zelda games!
“Whether skyward bound (skyward sword), adrift in time (ocarina of time), or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight (twilight princess)...”
I never noticed it before and I think it’s a nice touch.
"Go on, taste it," Link had a problem with eating frogs one humdred years ago but eats them now?
Michelle Manly bet he secretly tried it when there was no one around...
and liked it
He kills the frogs, smashes them into a paste and then drinks them.
Michelle Manly He boil them to death and drink them I guess it tastes better
When you have a 100 years sleep, I'm sure your stomach can hold anything. Just ask Goku from Saiyuki.
Michelle Manly
You can't just eat a frog raw! You need to simmer it with the entrails of your enemies first!
God, what are you, an animal?
Personally what i think is that what Mipha was going to say before the calamity appeared was she thinks about who the ones she loves and cares about when she is healing, possibly being the reason to her power and right before Links death Zelda thought about Link, the one who has helped and done everything he could for her, and realized he was more than just her 'appointed knight' and that she loved him and thinking about him and losing him sparked her power. As she thought about who she loved and cared about, just like Mipha did.
10:18
For some reason this is the most satisfying scene to me. The way Zelda almost completely gives up on her life. The way Link slices the Yiga’s throat. The way it shows how Zelda reacts to Link saving her life. Her expression tells me everything I need to know.
10:25
Bruh she couldn’t get away from the Yiga Bois cause she ran out of stamina
Relatable
Aint been clearing the shrines
David Foley because they havent been asleep for a century unlike link
David Foley exactly
Yiga bros
28:24 I swear if fi pops out of the master sword and tells Zelda that her Wii remote battery is running low I'm gonna lose it
Sam Mag i literly thought that was going to happen lmao xD
Speaking of which, the sound effects while the sword is glowing is almost identical to the sound effects in skyward sword while Fi pops out, plus in the deku tree scene, Zelda says,'Your *MASTER* will come and find you...'(Sth like that) Which obviously is what Fi treats at Link.(Treating Link as her/its master)
So does that mean this Master sword is the one in skyward sword?🤔
(I am new to zelda dun quote me on that)
The252Hero think of skyward sword as the master swords origin story.believe it or not, its all one big time line with skyward being the first
As a new Zelda fan(and noob), yes, I do know about the time line, I know Skyward Sword is the very beginning of the Zelda series, and one thing I know is that Breath of the Wild possibly occurs at the child timeline, certainly after Twilight Princess, as princess Zelda mention about the Hero of Twilight.
Zelda: Tell father I dont need and escourt
Me: err... link can't speak
Zelda: the silent princess is a rare endangered species
Me: they respawn every time I visit old deku.
Naushad Khedarun link can speak
ILikeMy Ls no he cant
Nashiro Mations he can. Read zelda's diary
Nashiro Mations actually he can. He just doesn’t around the players of the game because of what happens to him. Silent is his best way to deal with it. Read Zelda’s diary and listen to the memory’s. Zelda writes in her diary that he does speak around her alone. And also he gave her advice on how to ride the horse
eR SOLAR well jesus i didnt know -_-
Watching this makes me wonder more than ever:
Why would you willingly name your kid Zelda or Link in this world??
Reason 1: giving them those names implies you think the world is going to go to hell by the time they hit puberty.
Reason 2: Those names carry a mountain of expectations with them. We see it here: "You're Princess Zelda. You're supposed to be the avatar of the Goddess and manifest legendary powers. Get on with the manifesting!!"
n00bplayer for Zelda, it's stated that all female in the royal family are to be named Zelda. For link, you've always been able to name the hero in the game until breath of the wild cuz of voice acting and stuff
n00bplayer up until this game they had no idea about the past games of the timelines but it's true now knowing about them abd still call them by the names
n00bplayer or you could name your son/daughter because you're appreciated this game so much. like Robin William's daughter? hehe :')
Vania Saragih i even think zelda has been used before this game series even existed. as an example, f. scott fitzgereld’s wife was named zelda (this guy wrote the great gatsby). its such a pretty name! i wasnt aware robin named his daughter that.
n00bplayer robin williams named his daughter Zelda so yeah......
I don’t know why l’m crying
And I wish this game will be a movie someday
Otaku.sakura .chan_ hope its not live action!
Hopefully it doesn't have to be from Netflix , oh god no , please no, No Netflix.
Maybe not a movie but ther s gonna be a part two😏😁
@Sofia Benites same
The cutscenes in this game blow most Hollywood movies out of the water. Hell, most video games in general have better stories than most Hollywood movies.
Her voice is so British that my cup of coffee turned into tea
Oh no
You are British, right?
You made my day lmao thank you.
Fun fact: tea is actually Chinese not British.
bri' ish*

Ya bro
The new story in the DLC better fucking have more backstory. The story now is AMAZING,BUT I WANT MOOOOORE!!
