Michael’s Patreon videos are excellent. I think a lot about how generous and elevating this channel is. I can’t think of another artist more deserving of my Patreon support.
I really like this painting man. Super inspiring to me. I always end up spending a long time on paintings when i'm out plein air painting and I love the spontaneity you achieved here. Thanks for the inspo. Time to go practice!
Thanks Danny! Yes, I really enjoy the freedom and thrill of painting this way. When the paintings work out, they've got a sort of magic to them. Things happen with the paint that you would never do if you were being careful. Glad you found this video inspiring!
Michael, you have some really nice work. It’s also nice to see you and your daughter do so well together. She has a great personality. You have really clean color. Bright and upbeat paintings. Carry on. You’re doing so well.
So lovely!! This is so inspirational such a beautiful painting of that amazing coastline! This is very helpful as well! You describe the approach of the techniques you use in an easy to understand way how you critique your own work afterward is great, very helpful thank you so much!
Michael that was fast and furious. Like the sky, and the water, but the rocks maybe? could have used just a bit more. I know, my 2 cents you certainly don’t need. I’ve always loved your work from way back. And thanks for the sounds, brought back memories of that coast. Barbra Joan
Lovely painting, I like the idea of giving yourself a time limit and using bigger brushes. It comes out more abstract but I really like the look of it. I like the way the rocks seem to have sunlight hitting them. TFS!
I love this! I could feel your relief to be back out, and sense of freedom to be plein air painting again....and the painting itself is so awesome! I definitely need to take a leaf out of your book and loosen up :D
@@chamberlainpaintings I know, it comes across in the video that you're back doing what your love... and it also reflects in the painting, which is cracking!
i was looking for motivation to start doing art again because recently i´ve been feeling really uninspired and this video helped me a lot! keep posting man
I just recently found your channel through my recommended videos and DAMN i really been missing out on GOOD content. I just started out on making a youtube channel and you’ve really inspired me to keep on creating, keep on doing what you do and you’ll inspire more and more people!
wow that was so relaxing to watch, i absolutely love this video and i’m so glad i came across it. i never paint but this is so interesting to me and i’m really intrigued by everything, thankyou for posting!!
Michael, keep them coming. I get a lot out of your videos. Just one request. I remember someone asking if you had merch. If you happen to create a chamberlain paintings hoodie, (it has to be a hoodie), there are two things I would love to see on them. "Oftentimes" and "Thanks for hanging' out". I'd wear 'em all the time.
I’ve only just started watching your videos and i not the best painter myself however I think painting is so beautiful and I loved this video, it was so relaxing and the process was so interesting to me. Such a great finished product. I just subscribed and I am going to continue watching your videos :)
I just started my GCSE’s (British exams to get into college) and I’m in year nine/grade 8.. and your videos help me so much!! I appreciate you so much. Have a great day 😀👋
Bravo Mike, less than an hour and it's still a beautiful coherent painting. You've even catched the atmosphere. And you did the scene from afar...you know your craft man...the quick strokes look perfect
Fantastic Michael ,, if possible when your painting could you please mention the colour mixes , I know it’s not allways easy as your working so quickly , just really appreciate any tips
Thankyou very much . I think you have painted with my friend Dennis Tyson , I send Dennis some of mine and he is kind enough to critique them for me , he actually bought one off me
The painting is done all at once, so all the paint is wet. The early layers are thin though, so it's not a problem to come over them with thicker paint.
Enjoyed the video. Question on wet panel carriers... I need to buy one but am a bit confused how a single carrier supports multiple sizes of panels. I know you paint on different sized panels. Do you have several carriers then?
I use a 16x20" RayMar carrier. It has three slots and can carry panels that are smaller, but have to be 16 inches on one side. 16x16 or 12x16 for example. Look them up online for pics. I've never used the carriers that require inserts for carrying multiple sizes. Hope that helps!
@@michaeltollen588 I don't paint smaller than 12x16 anymore. I used to have smaller wet panel carriers for smaller panels. 8x10, 9x12 and 11x14 were the sizes I used. I bought the carriers at Blick, but the quality wasn't great. You could get a Raymar carrier that carries panels that are 12 inch on one side. I believe it's a 12x16" carrier that will also carry 12x12, 9x12 for example.
Smoke on The Water 🤘 I was out surfing the other day and the sun and ocean looked like Monet's "Impression, sunrise" painting. That painting was done in London where coal smoke was always in the air. The recent smoke here is affecting the colors in interesting ways.
Absolutely great artist. You get to the point, no fussing, just do it. Thankyou for your generosity. I am so glad to have found you.❤️🦋🇦🇺
Watching you paint that smoky sky made my nose plug up and my eyes run!
Oh no! 😂

I’ll live with it and see if it needs any touching up. The rock to the right could use something, bug I want to proceed with caution 😊👍

Sure love this! And, love the 'spot' you're thinking of changing. Thought it was water splashing over a rock. ;-) Well done (again!)

what is the tool in the painters hand on 2:22 minutes of the video, its like a square, what is the official name of it?
Do you mean the square to look at the scene through? That is a proportional divider.
I see those bold values and hints of ambient light. You mention the 'smoke' - There's a story here.
