    First time I have seen Mark scrape paint off a canvas. I've watched all of his videos, many multiple times, and have never seen him do this. Good to know! His work and teachings are so inspiring.

    I love this painting! I was watching the video on my phone, I sat back about 8 feet away and it really came to life. For me there’s almost a sweet spot in terms of distance to view it from and it suddenly pops! This is the magic of this method of painting, stand the perfect distance away and there it is, get to close and it falls apart, simply beautiful. Great job Mark!

    Thank you so much for all the free instructions you give out. As a poor it is essentially the only way I can learn to paint. I started off with Bob Ross style but am learning other new ways to paint. You and Stuart Davies are the best so far.

    Great job with describing what you're doing as you go along, telling us what appeals or doesn't appeal to your eye, and what you'd like to do differently. Thanks also for the tips about the unmuddying effect of burnt umber and brush movement. I also like to paint somber landscapes, so this demonstration was very helpful for me. The quote from Degas is reminiscent of Stephen King's advice about writing as a process: If the writer knows what happens next, the readers do, too. Thank you!

    The range of greens ARE the artwork for me. There's an underrated beauty in simplicity - a crazy, loaded up, stuffed crust pizza is always good, but a basic Margarita pizza made by a michelin star chef will always win. Admittedly, I could give or take the oranges in the back.

    Good afternoon! A few days ago I discovered your UA-cam channel and I think you have a painting style that I can somewhat manage as a beginner painter. I haven’t seen all of your videos yet, so if you mention it already, I’m sorry. Do you have experience in water mixable oils? A shop nearby has a 50% discount on their Winsor and Newton Artisan paint. I have only a little experience with acrylics, but they dry a bit too quick for my pace. Do you know if I can use my acrylic paint brushes I have at home already for water mixable oils? Because they can also be washed with water and soap. Or do I then ruin the brushes when I want to paint with acrylics again later on? Have a nice day!

    Hi Sir. I want to let you know ive been watching your videos for years and following your method drastically improved my painting techniques. I really want to thank you because all your guidance was accessible for free and it is so helpful.
    I would really want to know what your opinions are about midjourney? And what you think is the future of oil painting is? Can we use it for references for our paintings? I would really appreciate if you could make a video on how artists need to adapt to the AI revolution and stay relevant?
    Thank you once again for everything.

    Mark honest question why did you switch from cadmium yellow to bismuth yellow

    • @gnome2024
      @gnome2024 Рік тому

      BOOM! Real questions.

    • @mrsnrub9780
      @mrsnrub9780 Рік тому

      Uneducated guess, but I think Bismuth offers a little more transparency, which makes sense from a mixing perspective. Mixing with purple should give better neutrals over the brutal opacity of cadmium. It's just as expensive a pigment and basically the same hue, so it's no odds really. I prefer the cheaper, more transparent Diarylide Yellow however. I've had tubes of PY3 last months.

    If I were to list some of the deficiencies and problem areas with this painting, in order starting with the worst, these areas are: paint handling and brushwork; color choices including much overuse of white; drawing and composition; ideas and content; expressed mood. The deficiencies are not caused by the brief time taken to execute the painting, since superb results are possible to achieve in only 17 minutes.
