    Thank you for sharing the real-time process and pausing to share your thoughts. Beautiful shadow color. I would have fell in love
    with, then mistakenly blasted half of the canvas with it. You on the other hand, naturally showed just enough to keep it interesting and special. You = master ✌️

    Hey Mike , when did you say you were doing some dedicated surf videos . Soon ?
    That would be great aswell to catch up with.
    No need for me to say anything about this video as you know how much I love the shadow areas in paintings. Yours have such an authenticity to them. They glow instead of hide.
    If anyone gleans one thing from Mikes work then let it be the respect and feel he puts into his shadow areas. One of THE most underated parts of the painting process , in my view.
    Enjoyed this very much Mike , diolch from Wales.

    Good video! Nice insight with when to tone and when not to tone. I'm starting to tone my canvas panels more often, now. With acrylic painting it's all about layering. I used to go in order from background to foreground with large areas of solid shapes, but am appreciating piecing in the loose brushstrokes as I go and letting the burnt sienna show through. Abstract painting has helped me loosen up as well. Thanks for showing us your process.

    Gorgeous painting. It's interesting to note that droplets fall all over the camera so your seascapes actually have some real part of the ocean on them.

    PS. I cracked open my old tube of dioxazine purple (very old paint but perfectly usable). I used it in a landscape I'm working on and I'm really pleased with the effect.

    Michael, I so envy your being able to paint in such a beautiful setting at your whim. Watching these videos with the waves crashing has me living by the ocean vicariously through you. I saw this painting on your Instagram post first so I was watching you paint it as I was looking at the finished product. It's interesting to see the evolution from the end. It just dawned on me while watching this though, you don't often post a title for your paintings. Do you title them?, or do you just not include it in the post? Thanks for the video.

    • @chamberlainpaintings
      @chamberlainpaintings  3 роки тому

      I do feel lucky to live near the ocean. It was a dream of mine as kid. Glad you enjoy the ocean vicariously! I don't usually title the paintings until they're going off to a gallery. Many don't make the cut and never get titles. If I'm promoting a piece that's in a show, I'll include the title in the post.
