We will be taking submission for our next community project very shortly. Instructions for how to take part in community videos can be found here… www.thelongest...
This song has been top of our to do list for community projects for a long time as it is such a special tribute to the uniqueness of what we can all do together. Every group, gathering, show, song, day etc… is special because of the people around you, and you “may or might never all meet here again”.

Tuned in just in time to catch the final chord of the Premiere. Which was lovely. Next on my agenda: watch the whole thing! (Edited to ask: How many took part in this one?)
Always the last song at Renn Faires.
Dayum I gotta keep my eyes posted to the socials so I don’t miss the next one! Top work by everyone though xD
And even though it’s too early for the next suggestion, I’m shipping Barratt’s Privateers 8D
Awesome as always guys. PLEASE let it be Hard Times Come Again No More as the next Community Project.
I must hear binks sake/brew with the somber ending of a quartet... a trio... a duet... a solo.
It's ok, Mr. Sound Engineer, you may rest now. Great job you've done, pirate
There is a bottle here somewhere for him as well but there are so many empty ones the staff can't find it
Also to the video editor, who edit the whole clip :)
Shout out to the guy under the person with a duck who kept changing hats.
Seeing your comment I had to watch again to see and I saw him too lol. The editor of this video made sure that we never saw him do the hat change which I find just as funny.
I still love the fact that there are people using sign language in the videos. It's nice to see, great work.
hey, i’m one of those people! i can’t sing because i have a lung condition, but tlj is very important to me, so i wanted to participate :) thanks for noticing us!
We buried my dad at sea on Sunday, shot him out of a revolutionary war cannon, off the schooner Jolly Rover ll in key west Florida. Michelle, the cannoneer, sang the shanty acapella...it was the most beautiful, haunting melody I ever heard. I had never heard it before so googled it and found this video...the tears won't stop...thank you for this video and all souls in it
First: sorry for your loss. Second: that is the most badass burial I've ever read.
1:42 that little kid makes me smile every time he's on screen : ) he's just so excited to be a part of things!!!
2:43 3:46 4:53 as well!
And what things he is part of!
This… THIS!!! is of the highest use of the odd reality called “The Internet“. Blessings to you all!
Shout out to whoever decided to show their 3-D printer instead of their face LOL
Easily one of my favorite songs, so I’m truly grateful to be part of this project and this community. It’s always been a beautiful song, but that added choir gave me chills. Thank you for this
are you the person in the white hoodie and glasses 😭 ? cause if so i love ur hair
@@awaquathat isn’t me, sorry
I absolutely adore seeing those of us who put forward sign language, it's very touching to see it
I’m in love with how queer this fanbase is. I love us.
Wow, I think this is the best one yet of the community videos! Got proper church choir vibes, it was so beautiful. Shivers and tears may have happened.
Well done, all of us! And well done with the editing!
The "oooooo" at the start felt pretty weird to do, but it was soooo worth it! It was so powerful!
Time to rewatch, and try to avoid getting my vision blurred by tears.
You are in this, that's so cool!! 🌷 So happy for you 😊😊
It is such a beautiful and soulful, touching song. Been a favourite for some time ♥️
Honestly really beautiful, I'd love to see one done for Bones in the Ocean. Otherwise amazing how so many voices can harmonize into something beautiful like this.
Adequate job everyone!
To those saying they are too scared to try, I very gently encourage you to find a way to do it that feels comfortable for you, but also …just go for it. We filmed our video as a group, and none of us managed to complete our audio in time, but it helped us be more eager to try harder next time. Anyhow, this fandom is so kind and supportive, I encourage you to dive in and try it.
Did you really just write a genuinely non sarcastic comment that literally says "adequate job everyone" ._.
@@imperialofficer6185 That caught me off guard too. Is it some reference I did not catch maybe ? Comment in general feels kind, so this is weird
@@vaisravana2092 Don't worry, it's a reference that the Johns started a while back on one of the streams (I have no idea which one, sorry!)
^ yes, "adequate" meaning "great" is an in-joke that started when they said on a stream that they strive for adequacy ^^ it's even an emote haha
I'm a little "late" to the party realising they do these community projects and how it all works but I'm going to try my darndest next time one is announced! lol. I know it might be a while since (JOY!) the tour is about to start but I will be patient and wait. Thank you so much, Jess, for your kind and encouraging words, the world needs more like you. 🌺
Listening to this song, reminds me of friends of a bygone era.. Close then but distant now.. I will always remember their kindness, friendships and laughter..
I actually started tearing up at this, it was exactly what I needed just now as I've just visited my local food bank for the first time. I never imagined I'd find myself in such a position so this friendly reminder is so lovely.
I got a big square! With Olivier the Octopus
Lovely!
I'd like to give some specific praise to the wonderful folk I see signing in these. You're brilliant
this makes me cry all these people just
YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
I absolutely love these community projects. Sadly I'm far to nervous to ever join one.
I hope to see more in the future :D
You should join! I was super nervous about joining, too, but am so happy I did. Being part of it was really cool! ♥️🦆⚓️
I've been super nervous every time I've done one - I think most people are. Try to participate in the next one and just hit send and then delete the video from your device if needed. ;)
I'm not nervous, I just can't sing, and don't want to have my face on camera. But I'd love to have my videos of other things be included some day!
@@thewiseturtle hopefully they'll do another one like the Worker's song that had a non-singing video element to it!
@@gracehulbert7867 As much as I would love too, I hate my face being online. But I'll consider it.
some of the reactions to "heres a health to my dear lass" were very cute, great job everyone
Here's a Health to the Company! 🍻Stay safe, everyone
Great to be part of something so much larger than any of us. You folks are on to something that is very powerful and very good - as well as being a lot of fun. The old music really is in good hands.
Damn I missed the announcement of this project. Looking forward to it all the same
These community projects are so powerful not just because they highlight the communal nature of sea shanties and folk music as a genre, but also the diversity of said community. I love watching these videos and seeing people who I would never guess were into sea shanties and folk music singing along. Given that I'm the only person I know in real life who listens to this stuff, it's comforting to see these videos and remember that I'm not alone :)
Got chills when it panned out at the end. Super cool to see so many people in one project.
Also awesome(and bittersweet) to see Dave with the Johns again!
Chills. Actual chills. Adore this song, and the ensemble of community voices just absolutely escalated it.
Months ago when the project was announced, I thought I'll cry when I'll watch this video and yeah, I was right. This song is amazing, this project is amazing, everyone involved is amazing.
I love these, they're so unique. So many beautiful people from all over the world just sharing a song. ❤️
These chills are more than adequate.
Love the song & video! It's one of my favorite songs, and one I sing with my fellow Villagers at a Ren Faire. I'm particularly thrilled with the inclusion of the lyrics in sign language!
Amazing!! On behalf of the Choir and Orchestra club of Keir Hardie Primary School (London), thank you very much for this great opportunity. It was a pleasure to participate in your song and video, and pupils enjoyed very much! Looking forward to the next one! :)
Very beautiful!! I had the honor of participating! Thanks a lot guys! I love this song, now even more... ❤❤❤
How wonderful to see everyone together!
The guy who was 3D printing certainly had a unique method of holding the "Oooooo".
The person painting their Warhammer 40k minis is good at multitasking.
Edit: "There is a beauty in serving the God Emperor." -A Space Marine. Probably.
Edit edit: Closer inspection reveals that they're not Warhammer minis. Probably D&D related. I wonder if they play a pirate.
Being a part of it was nothing short of magical. Amazing job, people, thank you for this experience
They need to make an album of these community songs
If I remember correctly it is actually the plan to do so.
I love this so, so much! It's a very special, beautiful song, and with so many voices together it's just indescribable. Wonderful job, everyone involved ❤
i wish once i can sing this beautifull song with and for my friends.
There's something of many people voices singing along together that's hardly explainable, great work guys!
Why do I have tears? So many memories wrapped into this song...
Didn't see myself, but I could sure hear myself! Having a low range has its benefits, I can always pick my voice out of a choir. Great job, everyone! It sounds amazing!
I swear I can hear myself too, but thought I must be mistaken. I also have a low register.
I should've smiled more! Well I need to partake in another project to fix that ;)
Thanks so much! very thrilled to have been a part of this. Adequate job, everyone!
Thank you!!! For all of your hard work to get this to come together. I took much joy in the doing, the watching, and the listening.
Anybody else going to be looking for themselves in this?
yup same !
I already see myself! And usually I can't even after a few watches😅
Yep 😂
Obviously I'll watch! Fortunately I had found myself on this screenshot! 🤩
Yep! Cannot wait to start the search!
Farewell Dave! We all will miss you. As the song says “and we may and may well not meet here again”…
As always these community projects are super heart warming.
Kind friends and companions, come join me in rhyme
Come lift up your voices in chorus with mine
Come lift up your voices all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Here's a health to the dear lass that I love so well
For her style and her beauty, sure none can excel
There's a smile on her countenance as she sits on my knee
There's no man in this wide world as happy as me
Here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Our ship lies at anchor, she's ready to dock
I wish her safe landing, without any shock
If ever I should meet you by land or by sea
I will always remember your kindness to me
Here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Fantastic ! Good job everyone ! ❤
AMAZING thanks.
every time the community project is great. so much joy.
Lucy squad represent!
I loved taking part in this one and the end result is so good!! I really appreciated the wider range of parts you made available to cater to lots of vocal ranges - I felt like I could sing fully on this one, and I love how it all sounds together. You all are such a cool group of people, thanks for organizing these!
One of my favorite songs of all times from these guys. Seeing this makes my day
This was absolutely beautiful ! All those different voices always give such a boost to the songs and it's great seeing so many people enjoying themselves 😀👍🤩 Hopefully my anxiety won't stop me from participating in the next one ! 🤞
I'm glad that I'm not the only one whose anxiety stopped them from participating from this. I agree with you - it is beautiful.
@@hannahatkins636 Fingers crossed we will overcome it next time ! 😊🤞
awesome
So happy to be apart of this! After Leave Her Johnny this was my top choice for the next one and I'm so glad it's finally out :D
And I LOVE the harmonies in this, they really shine!
including dave was the best thing to do because you announced this before his departure
Thanks to all for the hard work in making this. This one holds a special place in my heart as I recorded my piece for it after getting home from my Aunt's funeral. I don't know what I would have said or done to change things, but I felt I needed to do this, as some level of honoring her. Regardless, I am glad I got to participate. Keep up the good work all!
Oh wow, thats a great one!
Thanks, so fun!! Beautifully crafted community video! (And beautiful song, of course!)
TREMENDOUS Lads!!! OUTSTANDING!!!
I love these! Here's a health to the company, and a shout out to all the squid/octopus representation, cool hats, kids, tankards, "Wally", and the rat!
I wish they rate it higher than liked. You guys and gals are awesome!
Normally I wouldn't comment, but I've been returning to this video over and over since it came out - it's so amazing! prob. my fav. you've done so far! can't wait to hopefully participate in one of these soon!!
Always a pleasure to shant with you all. Here's to all community project videos, past and future!
damn never heard "shant" used as a verb before 😂
I’m so disappointed that I missed this one !!!!
I didn’t even know it happened. Nuts!!!
I’ve been in the last 3 and I love them.
Jesus H. Christ, was my favorite shanty of all time, got goosebumps instantly
I'm crying. This is my favorite song. So beautiful means a ton.
that was beautiful.
That Was Amazing!! An Honour to be Apart of!! and cant wait till the next!
Absolutely amazing song and performance 🤍 everyone looks so happy in the video 🥰
I just have to thank you all for your work, this is one of my comfort songs I listen to when life gets stressful.
Especially right now with what's going on with my family.
Thank you
Wonderful community Goosebumps ❤
A beautiful song
This is one of the best community projects yet! I love how all of the voices came together. I’d really love Santiano to be a community project, or the Bonny ship the diamond….
Have you ever heard of the song same old man? It’s another neat song in a minor key.
The best Video I ever see
So happy! Found myself 3 times during that. I can’t wait to make another one with you guys
Im cryng, thank y'all so much
we did such a great work!
I thought "ah, a Classic from early Covid-Times..." (with being about Health and utilizing Community via Videos taken at Home) only to then see this was released merely four Hours ago...well
Wonderful Rendition anyway, perfect Song for such a Concept!
It brings back memories of when I used to play Assassin's Creed 4, listening to the great sea shanties.
Lovely! Well done to everyone involved, with very special thanks to the editor(s)!
Amazing job to everyone! Here's a health to the company and all the striking workers this year. May they have more than one glass to go around when it's all through!
Big respect and much love to everybody. We sound awesome. :)
So glad I got my recording in, and it sounds phenomenal! Thanks to all you wonderful people involved, and let's get even more people in on the next one!
Amazing work, and I'm sorry I missed this one--it was probably in my top three of songs I'd ever want to do for a project like this.
Amazing. I shall Listen to this every morning on my way to school in August. Till then I shall enjoy it in my free time.
Don't know how I manage to always miss those.
Well great work everyone anyways
one of my favorite songs in the world. Depending on how it's arranged, it can cover the gamut from sad and melancholic to downright joyful and uplifting. Fantastic work to TLJ and everybody involved in this masterpiece of modern creativity.
This is amazing gents, I got chills! Thank you for doing these projects and letting us join you in lifting our voices! Also to the pirate with the green hair and the rat on your shoulder that abandoned ship at 2:04, give the lil guy some scritches
Truly just beautiful. Gave me shivers and made me tear up. Amazing job again.
Still have my recorded version sitting on my desktop, too afraid to send it in, and how do I regret not submitting. Next time I will join in for sure!
Surreal.
Dear people,
You are all singers in my pirate campaign! Thank you for inspiring stories in my little Faerun/Greyhawk inspired world!
Amazing
i will cry this is beautiful
Nice bloody job everybody. I am So honored to be a part of this. And i must say that I'm really looking forward to the next one and i hope we nail that as well. And thank you Longet Johns for this i well and shall remember this till my last day❤
Anyone else really enjoy trying to spot the repeat participants? It's harder than you might think! It's kind of a like a fun matching game. I think there are only two or three people I've been able to spot in all of the community projects. (You know, aside from the band) But I've got really mediocre facial recognition, so I'm sure others could do better.
Loved recording this, Great result! Can't wait for the next one!
This turned out amazingly beautiful. I'm so glad I got be a part of this! Thank you TLJ and crew for giving us the opportunity to get involved with you guys and create something so meaningful ❤
