Finally, a faithful version of this song. All the other versions I can find are slow, contemplative ballad-types. It's supposed to be a drinking song, for God's sake!
Like seriously, everyone sings these old drinking songs and sea shanties like they are whimpy and always depressed. These songs were sung by a bunch of drunken tough dudes. Not saying these songs can’t be sung with emotion, this song is emotional in its own right, but at least make it sound like whoever is singing it is trying to cope with his true thoughts and reality with a drink and upbeat attitude like how the song was often sung historically.
@@funnelvortex7722 Ah yes, Leaver Her Johnny, a drinking song. Nah, a lot of times the shanties were used to keep pace while working. Working to a beat keeps everyone moving smoothly and a lot of the time the songs were used for that. However ballad type sad songs were certainly common, and probably just sung when bored. this made me cry.... “ we may or may never all be here again”... it’s not about the places you go with the treasure you take..... it’s about the Allies and the friends you make along the way, those everlasting bonds
The song sums up the point of Edwards story very well. While attempting to provide himself and his wife with a better life he becomes obsessed with finding a treasure he thinks will grant him that better life. Only after he loses almost every friend he made along the way and finding out the treasure he was after is something no one should have does he realize that the people who care about him are the real treasure in his life. But its not for nothing...without going through this sad realization he wouldve most likely abandoned his daughter to go on another treasure hunt. Instead he became the father he needed to be.
The local renfaire has an AMAZING pub sing at the end of every day, and this is the song they finish with. this game all though it is an assassin's creed game it ironically has very little to do with assassin's at all in fact you don't actually become an assassin until the very last mission in the game even then you never actually see Edward perform any other missions in the series afterwards he just end's up getting killed by a Templar in London a few short years later the only thing worth mentioning is that the dlc Freedom Cry shows how Adewale became an assassin and how he came into contact with Achilles and how the ship parts of the jackdaw show up in other assassin's creed games.
GrigorijRasputin Connor actually, it did fit with the assassin's creed genre unlike rogue and syndicate but they were good. I just think that assassin's creed 3 was the last one because of Desmond
I think that they meant that they turned off their system because of the heartbreak and refused to turn it back on. I know I did the minute the showed the whole gang.
I don't know what you talk about. It was just good song but what gang I hardly recognized half of the characters in the last scene not enough build up to feel for them. I didn't even know which one of them was alive or dead. so hardly any amotionally feel. I see what devs tried to go for but its simply didn't work. Shame
The song vibes I got from the beginning, middle, and end of the game. Beginning: "Yoho Yoho! A Pirate's Life For Me!" Middle: "Hears a Health to the Company." End: "Bones in the Ocean."

Mate, I am so sorry. I know that feeling, and I know the blinding pain that stops everything in your life for such a time that every second feels like eternity, and you just want to die so you'll be spared the pain. I know what that's like, and I am so sorry that you have felt it too. But I have good news. In the nearly 6 months since my Monkey died, I have learned something that has kept me alive every day: This dark moment shall pass, and one day, you will be all the stronger for it happening. I hope that helps you as it did me.
ShantirelGalaerivel - we are all sucked into the system from childhood and burdened by responsibility intended to limit our minds into submission. but as long as you have one loyal comrade by your side. Believing in you like doctrine then no limit applies either of you loyality is the rarest of discoveries so treasure it as you would your own son and die knowing that at least one man may feel pain by your leaving.
I take it as sailors sing this song the night before some big event together maybe for the last time. event could be an execution, them up against some royal navy, etc.
Trevor Dillinger This is a popular song at renaissance faires, too. 'tis merely a final toast to good times and to wish everyone the best in life before they depart and go on their way (such as saying goodbye at the end of the faire). Bittersweet, but a good song to remember.
Shenorai That's cool. I want my traditional music club (we just started up) to learn this song, ideally, and/or Parting Glass and do that at the end of performances and such.
Andrew Penman The Minstrels of Mayhem have a (slower but) good version, too. The best part of this song? You can invite the audience to sing along, just to add to a sense of fellowship before departure.
"You weren't much of a friend, Jack Rackham. Nor an able sailor neither. But you were strange and lively, and you made me laugh more than once. And that's enough to make me sorry for seeing you like this. I hope you found a lasting peace, down there, among the dead." :(
When I found out Stede Bonet (The guy Edward was waving goodbye to) died, I felt sad, because he was so innocent and didn't know what he was getting himself into, but still wanted to be a pirate.
only 3 game endings have made me cry Red Dead Redemption- because the main character dies Black Flag- because the main protagonist is all that's left and bioshock 2's good ending made me teary as well
One of the best games of all time, a cast that felt real, and memories that were forced upon us all. Back when AC was a timeless story-teller, instead of a generic RPG.
love this song, Sean Dagher's voice is outstanding and the chorus ties in wonderfully. Thanks for also uploading a clip of the game in the background, I may just give it a try as long my 960gtx can handle the graphics :) ........here's a health to you me lads!
Just beat the game on my switch. And wow. This game really had an incredible story and definitely worthy of playing all over again. A sad tale that will forever burn in my heart and the words "and we may or might never all be here again ". Was perfect when you saw all of his past friends at the table.
0:14 Blackbeards beard is pretty short in contrast to the missions like 3 years later. I like it because it shows the growth of Blackbeard through the game and Edwards growth too
Kai Ullrich I can't really tell regarding edward. But this game just gives me chills I love it so much, I felt so connected to the characters, this game was so well put together. It kinda makes me tear up when I think of the old summer days me and my best friend would go to the gym, eat lunch then come home and play AC4 by ourselves. Ah, the good ol days.
The black flag story is kinda sad cuz t starts out as Edward is jolly and has his friends and he ends up w no one and the whole happiness is kinda taken away cuz all his friends end up dead
Often forget how much I enjoyed black flag. Probably my second favourite AC game, and one of the best open world games for it's time, and even now maybe.

The old times.
Wow! Great video, great song...kind of sad, but so poetic lol.
***** "we may or might never all meet here again" --that's not sad to you?
The ending of the Game was so sad, i almost cried :(
But this is definately the best game!
This is a damn good song for a damn good game.
I'll never forget this game!
Best game on earth.
Yrue
True
It's one of the best
my internal pirate wanna to drink rum, and download from the torrent! yo ho ho!!!
may all these shanties and may this game never die
This is sad when you play this with death scenes and the ending
only 3 game endings have made me cry
Red Dead Redemption- because the main character dies
Black Flag- because the main protagonist is all that's left
and bioshock 2's good ending made me teary as well
this Bubbly Goodness
Y you spoil red dead redemption for me?
I'm on the merchant navy and a was singing this with a shipmate just before our trip ends !!!
We will meet again mate fair seas...
Georgios Konidaris Στα αγγλικά;
Ναι, στα Αγγλικά.
Georgios Konidaris Νομίζω οτι τραγουδάει για το πλοίο και οχι για την γκόμενα. Και το "company" είναι το πλήρωμα
One of the best games of all time, a cast that felt real, and memories that were forced upon us all. Back when AC was a timeless story-teller, instead of a generic RPG.
Women: "OMG! I cant believe he didnt cry during Titanic! Do Men have any feelings?"
Men:......"I wont cry.....I wont...."
2:24 I'm not crying ... You are crying 😢
1:24 do not cry do not cry do not cry
This song strikes hard. Reminds me of my last days of High School, with friends who came and went. I feel old now and I'm just now an adult
RIP Edward Kenway the most unique and best assassin
I'm still here crying while listening at this piece of art
although this song is from 1700, it is as exciting as many current songs
This was the first piece of media to make me emotional
Nice song to listen to! Brings back many memories from my childhood.
i heard this at one of the train stations in syndicate, i can't remember which. some guy was singing it near the exit
SpiralSpecter. Yeah, but they didn't sing it better
My favourite game i swear.
Listened to this song about a million times and it still gives me actual goosebumps. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🏴☠️🏴☠️
love this song, Sean Dagher's voice is outstanding and the chorus ties in wonderfully. Thanks for also uploading a clip of the game in the background, I may just give it a try as long my 960gtx can handle the graphics :) ........here's a health to you me lads!
I loved this song, and the cut scenes with my three favorite characters Thatch , Kenway, and mostly Hornigold really created the effect.
I hate Aunty Acid.
penis
AHH!
What?
Im dead Inside hi
Black flag and Black flag book is still my favorite. Can't ever let go and alway go black to play this game.
i cry every time
After so many years, this is the best video about BF. Thank you mate for it!
"We didn't realise we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun." - Winnie the Pooh
Beautyful.My fav is Black Flag
Song fits perfect at the end when it says they might not ever meet again. Subscribed...
Just beat the game on my switch. And wow. This game really had an incredible story and definitely worthy of playing all over again. A sad tale that will forever burn in my heart and the words "and we may or might never all be here again ". Was perfect when you saw all of his past friends at the table.
Thanks man for putting this up... I will get buried to this song. lol i hope :)
Am i the only one who almost lost it at the ending?
0:14 Blackbeards beard is pretty short in contrast to the missions like 3 years later. I like it because it shows the growth of Blackbeard through the game and Edwards growth too
wow, I never noticed that.
Did Edward ever change his look within the story missions? I mean AC4 takes some years and I never noticed that he changed the way he look(ed).
A health to you, old friend. 🍺
2023 ending, not ready to welcome 2024😢
i've been extremely depressed recently and this song has cheered me up a lot
Ready to set sail LADS?
Press "F" to pay respect
revisit one year later
Jesus! I still cry when I see them all at that table. The best of the best.
oh fuck... my heart... :(
Such an epic story. One of few games that can bring tears to one's eyes.
I come back after 5 years to remember the best game I've played in my life...
I’m back 7 years later and I have only played the game a little bit and didn’t enjoy it that much, but this song is great!
One of the best AC games
Minigame simulator:
Unfortunate outcome.
I don't like to lose.
2022? Anyone?
We miss you Thatch.
Beautiful.
Damn, I miss my crew.
this song and the gameplay in the video is so nostalgic.
I lost that game 3 years ago it was good game :(
Such a beautiful song.
The absolute best cover ive heard and ACBF didnt fool around with making it the tempo its supposed to be
The black flag story is kinda sad cuz t starts out as Edward is jolly and has his friends and he ends up w no one and the whole happiness is kinda taken away cuz all his friends end up dead
Often forget how much I enjoyed black flag. Probably my second favourite AC game, and one of the best open world games for it's time, and even now maybe.
Wooh this music makes me to play this game again
*lay down*, *tries not to cry*, *cries a lot*
I can't describe how fucking amazing this shit is...
