The NIV version was my first Bible. My first wife and I exchanged one as Christmas gifts in 2004. She passed away in 2011. This year on the 10th anniversary of her passing, I had them rebound in calfskin and presented them to my son and daughter. It was a very emotional day for us all. I know my kids will treasure them as much as I did. Thanks for sharing this. Thanks for the memories Tim.
Thanks Tim. Life has changed in 10 years. I have a wonderful extended family now and faithful wife who herself lost her first husband as well. Our similar stories and our faith in the Lord has built a strong foundation for our family out of a very dark valley. God is good even in dark times.
This has been such a great Bible for my husband. He always had a hard time understanding the Bible and now it is like his world has opened up and it totally makes sense. Thanks for the review on the updated version. It just keeps getting better and better. I love the NLT version too.
I love my Life Applicaton bible. I have it marked up with my favorite verses with yellow and green highlighter colors. It is my special friend when I spend a hour every morning reading it. So comforting. I recommend it without reservation.
Gidday Tim, and hope you are doing well. I've got the NLT Application Bible (amongst other study bibles) and I'm finding this one really good and interesting, and it's like you said, it makes you stop and think about your life and how to apply things. I've got the EVS, NIV, CSB and NKJV, and the Application Study Bible is the one I seem to use most frequently and write some of those notes in my journalling bible. I'm loving the journey even though I'm still new at it. Take care and loving your videos, very informative

Excellent review brother I love this Bible I have the KJV version red letter thumb indexed large print and I love this Bible only thing I don’t like is the pages are really thin and I can get distracted a little by the words showing through the page but not a dealbreaker. I was always told to stick to the KJV bible so I did I have to stop and look words up sometimes to understand what I’m reading if it’s not explained in the footnotes or the definition on the page under the text not sure about other translations if they replace them words with words we know in English but I’ve told other translations change some of the scriptures not sure about that just a few verses I’ve been shown but all in all I love this Bible the footnotes makes it so much easier to understand and like you said tells you or challenges like to apply the scriptures to your everyday life recommend this bible 11/10 times!!
I too use to be concerned about the various translations. However, they are another way for God to preserve his WORD so that have eyes to see and ears to hear can understand what the Holy Spirit is sharing in the scripture. I was brought to this enlightenment after continual pray to help me with the confusion and hysteria. One morning I woke up and the Spirit told me to read 2 Timothy 3: 16-17. Mind you, I've never read this and had just begun reading the bible for the first time. Here's what it changed my view on various translations that are accepted by the Christian Church as a whole: 2Tim. 3 Verses 16 to 17 - KJV "[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - ESV [16] All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, [17} that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - CSB [16] All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, [17] so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. So, in my humble opinion...All Christian scripture, regardless of the translation, is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, rebucking, correcting, for training the righteous so that we be completely equipped for every good work that is pleasing to Him. So, try an easier translation and refer often to the footers...because nothing is truly ever missing from the bible. God bless.
Can you make a video on the Student Life Application Study Bible? I come to this channel for advice on which Bibles to purchase. I ordered this Bible today and I want to know if I made the right decision in doing so. Thank You so much Tim.
I have a copy of the first edition which I used a lot back in the day. It’s been sitting on the shelf for quite some years now though. Mainly because I’ve sort of outgrown the NIV.

I know you wrote this a year ago, but I thought I'd just mention it anyway. Zondervan has a NIV Large print, thumb indexed in bonded leather, Life Application Bible. I don't know if they have the other versions like NLT etc but I thought I'd mention this one specifically as I saw your comment. Have a blessed day 🕊
Yes! I have the NLT Life Application Study Bible, large print, Jesus' words in red letter, the teal leatherlike cover and I love it, but only wish it was thumb indexed. I have pre-printed adhesive index tabs in mine now.
Those #'s represent a specific event in the life of Christ. There are 250 events total and each one is listed in a table in the section titled "250 Events in the Life of Christ: A Harmony of the Gospels". The table starts on page 2421 if you have the NIV 3rd edition. If using another translation, look at your Table of Contents for "250 Events in...". Each of the 4 gospels doesn't have all 250 events occur in a given gospel, which is why the #'s don't start with 1 and aren't consecutively numbered. Because the "synoptic gospels" (Matthew, Mark and Luke) have many of the same events occur, this is an easy way to cross-reference that same event across all 3 synoptic gospels. For ex., the 18th event, "Satan tempts Jesus in the wilderness", will be numbered as 18 in each of these 3 specific gospels.
I love the Life Application Study Bible. I’ve had it for years. It’s very practical for Biblical applications. I’m surprised to hear that it’s up to the third revision.

It seems like this one is easier for a beginner. However, the ESV is a classic and I can get the hardcover for a great price. For leather, both are similar prices, at least where I'm looking. Thanks.

Are the verses marked so you know there's a comment about it on the bottom? If not do you read the whole chapter first than read the comments? Thank you I'm thinking of ordering one. Are they price good?
Each study note is correlated to each verse so say 1 Corinthians 6:1 the study note at bottom will say the same or sometimes it will say 6:1-5 verses 1 through 5 so I read verses then the study notes myself not a whole chapter then the study notes but it’s just preference I got leather kjv and red letter thumb indexed large print for about 100$ if you don’t want all they the price goes down as cheap as around 50-60$ but I love the Bible helps me to understand stuff better and apply what your learn to your life

Nice review, but I did not see a single thing about applying the Bible to my life or anyone else’s. Simply having study notes in the Bible, does it make it application for life. I would have liked to have seen what makes this a life application Bible And not just an abbreviated study Bible.

I don't think the genealogies in the Bible need to have some sort of deep, personal application for our daily lives in order for us to value their place in the Bible.
I have the NLT version of this. I will be honest, I am not a fan of it. The translation is great, but the nots are WAY too much. Seriously some times they are between about a twelfth of the page, and a page and a half. It drives me nuts
@@timwildsmith I would like to get the CSB apologetics study Bible partially because it’s cheaper and in my preferred translation. Plus the notes are not nearly as invasive as they are in the life application in my personal opinion. I still use it it’s a great Bible, just the notes are a bit much for me
My family & I have been using the Life Application Study Bible literally for DECADES! I either have or have had a lot of the really popular study bibles out there in virtually every translation you can think of, but the NLT LAB has been my go-to forever. I might as well not even bother owning any other Bibles, I use the NLT LAB so much. It's hands down my favorite of all time & definitely my "desert island" book, for sure. The only thing about the Life Application Bible, & basically every other Bible I own published by Tyndale, is that their binding quality has become pretty much AWFUL over the past several years. They just fall apart. The bindings split & the pages fall out & the pages, themselves, are so thin you're halfway afraid to read it, lest the pages get ruined. I had a brand new hardcover NLT LAB that I only used for just a copy months before it just fell to pieces with just gentle daily use. I gave up & saved up the money to get a genuine leather copy for over $100, & it's "okay," I guess. The leather is really thin & there's a big dent in the back cover that I'm assuming is a flaw in the leather. The pages are still very thin & the gilt started flaking off the bottom of the Bible pages almost right away. It's really shameful that Tyndale can't get their act together & make a well-made, high-quality Bible for the prices they charge. Tyndale used to make good stuff. I have several NLT LABs from the 90s & early 2000s that are still in great shape today. And it's not just the LAB that falls apart. I have several NLT One Year Bibles that are falling apart the same way. The bindings are split & pages start falling out. Which is ridiculous cuz I have One Years from the 90s that look like they've survived a hurricane that are as soild as the day they were bought. I don't mean to go on & on about this problem, but Bibles are meant to be used hard & all the time. They are the very Word of God & Tyndale should be ashamed of the shoddy craftsmanship they're cranking out these days. Anyway, unless you're just married to the New Living Translation like I am, do yourself a big favor & buy the LAB in NIV. Zondervan, which owns NIV, still makes excellent books that really hold up to the test of time.
I don't consider myself liberal... and I know a lot of faithful Christians who have tattoos. Maybe some people see this from different perspectives, and that's okay.

Zondervan, which owns NIV, still makes excellent books that really hold up to the test of time.

u most be a liberal " Christian" why would u want to support the world and look like them?@@timwildsmith
I don't consider myself liberal... and I know a lot of faithful Christians who have tattoos. Maybe some people see this from different perspectives, and that's okay.
