    It's MR. MARTÍN GARCÍA GARCÍA !!! Beautifully phrased with perfect pedaling, immensely powerful and very virtuous. He absolutely melted every heart in the auditorium. His rendition must have been what it was like to hear Chopin himself play. With the hope that this dynamic and charismatic Spanish pianist will be awarded the Gold Medal. To you MR. MARTÍN GARCÍA GARCÍA, God bless you. 🏅 💐💐💐

      Garcia was so good, but I don't want him win because Chopin didn't wrote tenor part. Can you imagine to buy somebody's recording then listening to it with earphones and you think,"What a hell is that weird sound? Is there somebody outside of my room now?" That's exactly happend to me last night, because I didn't follow him until final round. It's unprofessional to sing that loud.

    Wow, listening to the orchestra at 18:09 for J J Jun and at 2:52:30 for Eva Gevorgyan we can see notice so much difference. It is probably a choice of the performer, but to play the same concerto multiple times and still deliver the nuances rehearsed with each contestant just show how special this orchestra is! Props to them, because otherwise there would be no concerto and the orchestra isn't as valued as the pianist, but they work together!

      If true, then why practice Chopin’s compositions until note perfect?
      Just play them with artistry and you won’t be marked down for wrong notes!

    • @cssantisteban
      @cssantisteban 2 роки тому +1

      @@LC-ig2jm I think the idea does not suggest that someone can play a Chopin concerto well without studying it meticulously and practicing it for a long time. What it suggests is that a perfect but cool performance is not preferable to a sensitive performance, although this sensitive performance has a few errors in relation to the score.

    First, all competitors gave tonigth some really remarquable performances. Bravo.
    M JJ Jun Li Bui gave a very good performance, with a nice musicality and a fluid playing. He had anyway some difficulties of speed control on the most demanding moments. Globally a fine and standard interpretation.
    M Alexander Gadjev gave a sublime performance that marry intimate moments and a great virtuosity. His sound was deep, singing and balanced. His phasing was 1st class. He has some little issues with dynamics during the 2nd movements. Globally a really great moment of music.
    M Martin Garcia Garcia, gave a very clear, powerfull and entousiastic performance. His sound is equality brigth from begin to end, which is good : he is brillant virtuoso, and as counter effect, he lack of deepness and nuances. A great shinny performance, full of happyness.
    Mme Eva Gevorgian gave a very clear performance. She demonstrated a delicate sound but in fast section, she had some phrasing inconsistancies. At the opposite, In the slower sections, she played with a great musically. Globally a very good performance.
    As a personnal note, my favorite today is M Gadjev that succeed to illustrate the two aspects of Chopin music : a mix of pure virtuosity and intimate moments, a set of delicate phrasing and stronger sections. Bravo

      @Marie Bourne
      recourse 1: "You have to be an exceptional young pianist to beat the likes of Sorita, etc"
      recourse 2: "It's not really fair that someone as experienced as Sorita goes up against some very young, new pianists"
      how do you estimate this facts:
      - She has received awards at more than 40 international competitions for young pianists
      - Under the baton of such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Alexander Sladkovsky, Lawrence Foster, Vasily Petrenko and Gerhardt Zimmermann
      - she has played in prestigious concert halls in Russia, Europe and the US.
      I am sure you will find the source from which I quoted.
      Consider that each competition formulates certain conditions of participation. These may well differ. As far as I can survey - and my foresight is rudimentary - each contest has an age range of about one decennium, especially if it is held at intervals of several years. Here I am NOT talking about junior competitions!

    The sound nature of Kawai was an important reason to hit JJ and Gadjive today, IMHO. Hope juries would discount that somewhat. Martin is much better than I expected but for E minor piece I still see Sorita as the best so far.

    I have not paid much attention to Garcia Garcia's performances in the first three rounds. The way he played seemed to be kinda strange, and not in a good way. But I must say I think he played the best concerto so far (and the F minor, which is less known and less praised than the E minor). Beautiful sound, and so many colors. He is confident and cheerful. I hope he gets a prize.

      In Garcia's early rounds he frequently brought a new freshness to pieces we've all heard a million times. I don't agree that this was either strange or bad. Maybe his flamboyant delivery and "singing" is a distraction for some but not for me. This was classy playing culminating in a stunning concerto. The applause that preceded the last chord told a story in itself. Throughout Mr Garcia quickly became an audience favourite. He delivered emotion aplenty and that's what it's about

    Sorita and Garcia were certainly impressive today. Still, the one weakness of the Chopin Competition is that the culminating event are supposed to be his two concerti. By any measure, however, they are not his best compositions. Inevitably, I find myself going back to the second and third round, to the scherzi, mazurkas, sonatas, polonaises, and ballads, all of which strike me as offering far more musical "substance" than the relatively placid concerti. Chopin obviously never explored the orchestra with the same depth and rigor as he did the piano. The large symphonic form just isn't where his greatness as a composer is found. -- My hope is that the winner will be decided by the cumulative score of the performers throughout this competition, and not just how well they did in the final round. I was quite disappointed that Sumino and Khozyainov were not advanced.

    • @SirMaxiimus
      @SirMaxiimus 2 роки тому +11

      I agree with your point that the concerti does not have as much musical 'substance' as the other more refined pieces. However, it's fair to say that those who got to the final were evaluated on those ballades, etudes, scherzi, polonaises...etc. I'm sure it will come down to a overall culmination of all rounds, the final is there to observe the ability of the pianist in playing with an orchestra which is notoriously difficult and requires good chemistry between the two parties. It would be nice to have a behind the scene documentary on how they evaluate competitors because there are just so many talented pianists this year.

    • @lflagr
      @lflagr 2 роки тому +4

      Agreed. The final round of the Chopin Competition has always seemed more like a formality than an actual competition--it's not these concerti aren't great works, but still, it's difficult to believe these final rounds have any true bearing on the official result. One possible solution--I believe the Chopin Competition should just pick 3 finalists, honestly. Then we can really hear three meaningful concerto performances that help us truly decide who is the best.

    • @hvanngil9575
      @hvanngil9575 2 роки тому

      All great and meaningful piano competitions require a round with orchestra where the skills are in demand that you can't show as a soloist. Competitors have little time available for rehearsal with orchestra, so they must demonstrate their communication skills on stage. I could observe significant differences in the first two final rounds. Because it is a CHOPIN COMPETITION, the choices of piano concertos are very limited.

    • @umegghju
      @umegghju 2 роки тому

      pianists play alone and with orchestra, it's part of the job (and yes, also with other instruments or voice..).
      Despite to the opinion about the concerts, this is an additional test that completes the competition.
      And the Jury in the last day can decide by also considering the previous stages, its members are not so stupid :)

    Garcia has the same relaxed hands that Sorita has, and so also plays each passage with precision, dynamic, and grace. Moves between the left and the right hand without losing the inner voicings that make Chopin concertos so nuanced and beautiful. Not hurried, which happens when the hands get tired. For me right now it is a tie between Garcia and Sorita. Maybe Garcia has a very slight edge.

His quiet and quick passages in the upper register still came through with nuance and beauty, traits of a relaxed hand. And his left hand work was clean, not muddy. Having that relaxed hand is key to a command performance, consitent from beginning to end.

Young brilliant artists who really benefit from these introductions.
