Honda Civic Type R 2017 review

This is the Car Buyers Guide Honda Civic Type R 2017 first look review in Ireland. This car has not even arrived in Ireland, so the vehicle we are driving was shipped over for the UK for Irish motor journalists to get a quick spin in the car. Unfortunately, Daragh Ó Tuama only managed to cover about 20km in this car, and we didn't get to take it on track. However, Honda Ireland has ensured us that the Honda Civic Type R will be on the press fleet when it arrives to market.
Honda reckons that they'll shift approximately 12 of these next year in the Irish market. The price for the big seller will be just under €55,000. The brand's focus is of course on the regular Civic.
The Civic Type R is now in its 25th year. This fifth-generation model shares a lot of its make-up with the regular Civic, but it's those special differences that allowed the Honda Civic Type R a record braking lap time on the Nürburgring/Nordschleife. It set the fastest driving front wheel drive lap time at 7 minutes and 43.8 seconds. The car is powered by a 2.0-litre VTEC TURBO engine and now produces 320hp and offers peak torque of 400Nm. The six-speed manual transmission is made even better with a rev match control system, which makes it a pleasure to use - we especially like the short throws between gears.
The chassis is now stiffer, and the suspension has been revised. To the front is Macpherson strut, and at the rear is an independent multi-link system. The car comes with various enhanced driving modes including "Comfort", "Sport" and the track focused "+R". The rear features a stunning bespoke triple-exit exhaust - with all tailpipes being functional!
The Type R also comes with a suite of safety technologies. Honda SENSING features; Collision Mitigation Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Assistance and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control.

I've had a discussion with someone I work with quite regularly. He seems to think a 5 series is the ultimate goal car for irish people, not for me though. Give me this Type R over a 5 series any day. I know what car I'd want to wake up and look at every morning.
