    Hi Food and Footprints!
    =======================
    Muar is my hometown. Hope you guys love it just like my fellow MUOrians do! I have something to share here:
    A) You need to come back to complete your hunt for Muar specialties:
    -------------------------------------
    1. Mee Bandung - /
    2. Asam Pedas Parit Jawa - X
    3. Rojak Petis - X
    4. Otak-otak Muar - /
    5. Mee Udang Galah - X
    6. Murtabak Tanah Melayu @ Singapura - X
    7. Apam Balik Mini (snack) - X
    8. Mee Siput (snack) - X
    9. Fresh Oysters - X
    10. Nasi Ayam Berlada - X
    11. Laksa Bakri - X
    12. Elephant Bean Coffee - /
    13. Morning satay, Lontong and Soto - /
    14. Muar Chwee Kueh - X
    15. Muar Oyster Omelette - X
    16. Sabak Awor Grilled fish - X
    17. Muar Soup - /
    B) Sabah grows 70% of Malaysian coffee, Johor grows 20%, and the remaining 10% come from the rest of Malaysia. However, Ipoh Perak has the honour of becoming one of the 3 Asia's top coffee spots with its white coffee. Elephant beans = the size is longer than the normal coffee beans.
    C) Which one tastes better? When you nod your head or when you shake your head? Haha...
    I really adore the way both of you explain your food. Your vocabulary and knowledge about local food are amazing. Definitely a doctorate level.

    • @FoodandFootprints
      @FoodandFootprints  3 роки тому +1

      So good to know you are from Muar! We loved your hometown and definitely want to come back.
      Thank you for that detailed list! We tried the oyster omelette, but just didn’t film it. Bakri laksa, chwee kueh, apam mini, asam pedas at Parit Jawa we read about but just didn’t get around to trying. Excellent list!
      And thank you for that detailed explanation about the coffee. Exactly what we wanted to know. So Johor is a big coffee grower then. We will have to try Sabah coffee whenever we make it there. Enjoyed the white coffee in Ipoh too. Now it makes sense why they are called elephant beans!
      Hahaha don’t even think I know the answer to that one! 😂😂
      We really appreciate the kind words and support. Comments like these really make us smile. We are far from doctorate level, but we do love the food and it has been great to try more of it from places we never would’ve visited otherwise like Muar, JB, Kuantan, KT, KB, etc

    Well, you have tasted coffee in Johor.
    Have you ever tried coffee from the other states?.
    Well, if you go to Ipoh (Perak State). You should try Ipoh Coffee. They eat it with toasted kaya bread (toast on charcoal grill) & 1/2 boil eggs.
    If you're in kemaman (terengganu state). You go to kemaman kopitiam right in the middle of the town. They have a branch in kuantan, Pahang.
    If you are in sarawak state, this is need to try. Kopi Luwak, this is the most expensive coffee in the world.
    Borneo best selling coffee worldwide.

    • @FoodandFootprints
      @FoodandFootprints  3 роки тому

      We have! Ipoh white coffee was great - we tried it at a few of the classic kopitiams there along with kaya toast. We had some nice kopi kampung in Kedah too. Also plenty of coffee in Penang. Unfortunately didn’t get to try Kemaman Kopitiam. Remember reading about it while researching where to eat in Kuantan.
      Definitely will try lots of local coffee when we make it to Borneo.

    I only discovered Kopi 434 recently. Yup it is truly good quality coffee with a unique taste. Its a pity you couldnt dine in, the coffee shop have great modern ambience with a slight old charm.
    Muar has a reputation as being a food haven in Johor, people from JB do family / company daytrips just for the food! I know people from Seremban who would drive 1 1/2 hours just to have breakfast there!
