    I have just finished repairing my Passat 3C5/B6 that showed the 01810 DTC and got some useful insight.
    I removed the V159 actuator and cracked it open. Found nothing wrong with it. The DC motor was working (applied external 12V to it) and the potentiometer also gave correct feedback (4.7 kOhm across end terminals and wiper varied between 0.5 kOhm and 4.7 kOhm). However it seemed like it would easily get stuck in one end position (maximum cooling of HVAC, which also matched the car's problem). When reversing the voltage the motor would just stall.
    I greased up all the gear and ran the DC motor back and forth a couple of times. After this, the problem was seemingly gone. No spare parts required!
    Then I tried connecting the actuator to the car and let it dangle from the dashboard, started the car's HVAC and switched temperature setpoint between low and high. The actuator would then move back and forth, thereby verifying the function of the actuator. I then put everything back together and now the HVAC is working properly.

    Спасибо большое за видео, сегодня отремонтировал моторчик V159, честно не лёгкая задача, тяжело подлезть и выкрутить, есть части которые очень быстро открутились, были пару болтов которые больше часа пытался выкрутить, но у меня всё получилось, дальше буду выкручивать моторчик v158

    Thanks mate for detailed tutorial, I've changed motor last night. Just mine metal plate near motor was bit different and it was very hard to remove last 2 screws. Small tip I've bent this metal and it was easier to remove this screws, just be careful and later return to first position. Anyway thanks a lot

    The same guide works for B7 passat also. However you need to drill a hole to get access to a T20 screw for a module that is covering the v159 motor.

      Hello everyone, very nice tutorial!
      i have a problem with my passat, i have no heat and it blows only cold air, when i touch the two hoses that goes into the heater core from the engine bay : one of them is cold the other one is hot (heat is set to high on the dashboard) . I just wanted to know if this flap motor can cause this problem?

    is the defroster flap v107 the some location on 2006 and on 2009 because i fitted a newer climatronic to a 2006 variant b6 and my defrosting rear windows dont work so if i enable manualy the defroster flap or if remove it will me windows defrost?

    Hello! My golf 5 has a problem with cooling. The refrigerant is full, it has no loses, the pressure sensor is changed but my climatronic behaves strange. For ex from Bucuresti to Sinaia it pushes cold air but from Sinaia to Bucuresti it pushes warm air and this cycle is happening over and over most of the time. What do you think?

    To replace potentiometr inside V159 you can leave V159 on its place (don't need to remove last 3 screws that was one of the hardest parts of this replacment for me). When you see V159 from the side you can remove V159 connector (need to press the connector tab, which is located on the far side and is not visible from our side), then remove V159 plastic cover using thin flat screwdriver. After that you can take out old potentiometr and insert the new one back into the V159.

    Can i ask you I have a passat cc 2009 when I turn on the heating, there is only heat coming from the passenger side. Do i have the same problem like this video?

      Hello! Use a VCDS scan tool to be sure that you have this fault code with V159 servomotor.

    Thank you for this video, it helped me replace the V159 in my B7, i hade to remove a airbag box near that annoying plate in order to reach the screws. A question though, after disconnect and reconnect airbag box do i need to clear my error list ? because now i have a warning on my dashboard...

    Hello, i have a problem. There are not air ( warm and cool ) on center drill but sides is ok. What is problem ? Can you tell me ? I think, your flap motor only recircilaon fonction, is right? Thank you for all ( is it possible V71 ? )

      Hello! To make sure that you have a problem with one of those servomotors, first you need to do a diagnostic test.

    Hello! Help please ! My car is a Passat from 2014 and when I press the button to blow air on the windshield is making knocking noise ... The error code is B10B8 71 ' motor for indirect ventilation is defective' but I don't know witch one is it (V...) . The noise comes from the middle left of the console on top of the navigation unit ... Thx!

    Hi, Thanks for the video. It is very useful. I am almost 100% that my car problem is that one without running diagnostics. It doesn't blow heat on the central right and passanger's side console. On theory if the error is V159 and I replace the motor is it going to work without cleaning the error?

    My 2014 passat is blowing hot air on driver side but blowing cold on passenger side. Any idea why im not getting hot air on both sides???

      Probably it’s because of the servomotors, but first you can start with a car dyagnose to be sure.

    In cazu meu, am eroare de recirc flap motor, singuru simptom e ca uneori geamurile si parbrizu se aburesc extrem de naspa, uneori chiar periculos de naspa, sa fie de la asta ? Oare nu mai inchide bine si nu baga aer de afara ? Filtru si toate cele sunt noi

      Daca ai eroare pe unul dintre servomotorase, da, poate fi de acolo sau de la radiatorul de caldura (sa nu fie fisurat).

      @@Servicetutorials Salut, la mine nu baga nici aer cald nici aer rece pe partea soferului (nici in bord nici la picioare), pe partea pasagerului merge perfect si rece si cald sa fie de la acest V159? ca abia azi am descoperit si n-am avut timp sa verific mai mult
