Chevy Malibu won't shift, not the transmission. simple fix 2012-2018

Thankyou so much, I’m actually having this exact problem right now, when driving car is stuck in first gear and won’t up shift and check engine came on when the problem started happening. I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado

I have no code, no lights, and mine is higher miles and does it more going slowly or badly sounds off more screechy in reverse.

I have a 2012 Malibu and it is slipping gears as well,,and since it has been happening I smell oil
