    My Dad was an engineer at Ford and he worked on retrofitting the Lincoln Limo after President Kennedy was shot. The car was owned by Ford Motor Company. They added lots of safety features and permanent top. It was put back into service as the Presidential Limo until the early 1970s. It is now on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan

    If you think they meant a couple of fire extinguishers you're nuts. It more than likely is a setup similar to drag cars that deploy in the engine bay or the cabin as needed.

    The one thing never mentioned are the snipers. Secret Service always has people with rifles in buildings to cover the most likely vantage points an enemy sniper would use. Back in the 80s my dad was a local assigned to one of those details for the VP.

    The limo isnt as much about "getting away" as it is about "keep moving". Most of its use is in big city areas where 60 mph is pretty fast. Its give and take. Give up some top speed and acceleration to gain very thick armor. Its so heavy it just migh not flip over if a bomb went off under it. Just depends. If they can keep moving rather quickly with heavy armor it is unlikely an attack could last long in that most attacks arent aimed at a moving target. They are aimed at a point on a map. "This is the spot we will attack". Therefore, if you can get the car out of that immediate area pretty quick you stand a better chance of beating the attack. Plus, if the bad guy were to attemp persuit, the bad guy would likely have to fight continuously for quite a ways under fire as not only the Secret Service has a presence and a counter assault team to shield the escape, most routes are loaded with local police. At times hundreds lining whatever route the president is on. To "chase" that armored car you have to do it while facing a counter assault team attacking you and local officers everywhere. The limo may only need 5 seconds to get out of the kill zone where its now roaring away at 60mph inside a city while the attacker (s) are themselves getting assaulted. Thats a key factor. Its 1 thing to just defend yourself. Its a whole different beast when you defend yourself by launching a head 1st attack at the bad guy.

      @mckrackin5324 Рік тому +1

      There's not a lot of concussive blast from an anti-tank mine. They are shape charges designed to punch a hole in a tanks belly or sever the tracks. They work more like a cutting torch than a big bomb. The sudden and drastic change in interior pressure will disable and likely kill the crew. The mines aren't meant to blow the tank up. Only render it useless without a crew or immobile without a track.

    Yes, there are 3 Beasts and 3 helicopters (only the one with POTUS being "Marine One"). I have seen them in person several times and there are no marks, numbers, trim differences, or anything to tell one from the other so terrorists can't radio "he got in the one with the scratch on the trunk" etc. If one gets dirty or scratched they clean it immediately so it's identical to the others! They also switch leads and positions several times like a shell game on wheels so nobody can memorize the order. Typically the Press Corp has one helicopter and The Whitehouse staff the second one. Three machines of each type cuts the odds of attack further by 66% and that is very smart.

    If an expert driver can avoid the situation to begin with, immediate speed is less important. Obviously they want to speed up at some point to out of there, but if you look on UA-cam, there are some videos that show evasive maneuver courses for military and/or police. That kind of thing, and the drivers who have gone through the training, should be enough to get the limo away. And keep in mind the limo isn't going out on its own either, so there will be plenty of backup to help with whatever situation might be occurring.

    I don't think it would flip from a grenade explosion/RPG. It's extremely heavy and that plate on the floor is about 5 inches thick, if I remember correctly. It also has even the blood bottles that match the blood type of the president if emergency transfusion is ever needed. The car additionally holds tear gas cannons for actually dispersing a hostile crowd and for defense. The night vision cameras are for use in total blackout. Additionally, a panic button also exists for the president to press to summon help. The limo also has wifi and a satellite phone with a direct line to the Pentagon. The door is as heavy as a 757 jet’s cabin door and it has five inches thick bulletproof glass, as well. The windows are also five to six inches thick and bomb-proof. Out of all, only one window opens and that is the driver’s window that opens to only 2.75 inches, to only speak with secret service agents outside the car. It has puncture-resistant tires. The tires are protected against flattening. They're Kevlar-reinforced, so essentially they are shred-resistant. If somehow the tires do blow, they can drive a distance on the rim. The filtration system also keeps harmful and poisonous chemicals out. So yes, it is better than any James Bond car.

    You guys are too funny. The "Thumbs Up" was pointed toward the crowd, which is why it looked that way. It was not a thumbs up for himself to say, "I did great"; it was a thumbs up to the crowd of people to say, "You people in the crowd are great".

    Watch Trump in the Beast at the Daytona 500. It's awesome.
    Also, the .44 Mag is the least do what it can stop. My chest plate carrier can stop that. The steel armor rating is unknown, but is impenetrable by any known rifle caliber. The glass can stop several shots from any high powered rifle such as the .50 BMG, .45-70 Government, .700 Nitro Express, .338 Lapua Magnum, or the 7.62x54r. there is a video of an armoring company shooting their own vehicle with similar armor playing as the Beast. The company CEO literally sits inside the vehicle right in front of the rifle and takes dozens of shots to the glass with not even a broken glass shard on the other side. It's impressive stuff.
