Second D2 Specs

Removing anti roll bar gave me more than suspension lift. Fantastic video showing the difference.
Wow! Big difference! I've got a +2" Terrafrma lift on my 2001 Disco 2 and I installed Disco 3 front swaybars on my front and Disco 2 front swaybars on my rear. The Disco 2 front swaybar is 2.5" longer than the stock Disco 2 rears, and the Disco 3 front swaybar is 1" longer than the stock Disco 2 swaybar.
Interesting!! That's pretty cool what you did there!
Good thinking! do you get more flex/articulation with this set up? Also with them being longer would that prevent it from going as far into the arch? ie giving less chance of tyre rub?
Thanks for the example.
massive difference..
Big difference! How does having no sway bars affect the road handling?
abit boaty but its not too bad really, as long as you dont drive it like you stole it!
Drive it like a 4x4 You will be fine..im running now sway bars on 3in lift and 235/80r17 on my WK
Both passed through the obstacle with ease but one now handles like boat on the road. Also if you plan on loading up your car with gear, roof rack full etc. this is absolutely a bad idea on the road if you ever need to quickly avoid a hazard.
Hence why I've got mine fitted with a quick link/disconnect
Nice!!! extended brake lines and abs sensors...
Thanks and yes both extended 😊
I have the 2-in o m e and Factory brake lines/ sensors
Best 0:50 video I think I've seen
I recently saw a video where they removed only the front sway bar and left the rear attached. It turns out that slightly stiffer in the back forces the front with removed bar to articulate more then it did when both bars were removed. Have you ever heard of this? It's hard to find but I saw one video where a guy proved it with still pictures on a camera while driving on to multiple ramps front and rear in an axle twisting set up.
Not wrong there! Can't prove anything but my rears stay attached. I've already got enough articulation in the rear with tyres rubbing up the wheel arch. Though I am running front d2 links in the rear. And d3 links in the front with a quick link
Great video! Wanna ask, do you know what that loud “clank” sound is after crossing tge ditch? I’ve also experienced it before and everytime it scares the living hell out of me. Is it even normal?
It's the spring reseating it self back into mount ☺️ I know it's a gnarly sound and feeling depending on how it re-seats, but it's pretty normal.
But just a heads up though make sure the spring isn't too loose when full droop or else you'll find that the springs come out! Through you shouldn't have this problem if your springs matches your shock length 👍
@@adventureawaits4x457 This is the question that needed to be answered. now i am scared to disconnect my end links
Great vid. 3rd time watching 👍👍
Thank you ☺️
Anti-roll bar would be a better term to use. I have no issue with removing for off road only
I've been calling it an anti roll bar for ages but I kept getting corrected to sway bars 😆
would having no sway bar be better for the vehicle if hitting potholes on road with speed? I would think it would stress the parts less.
I'm thinking about this question too, I've read about disadvantages of sway bar on rough roads. I'm going to remove my car's stock sway bar and see how it feels comfort-wise.
@@michaelntjyhow did it work out?
@@michaelntjyhow now? Did it work?
Is there any reason why you wouldn’t remove the rear sway bar?
I left mine in due to the watts linkage looking like it's at it max travel with it connected.
thanks for the video
Do the sway bars affect ride comfort?
Yes, it will handle like a boat on corners. 👍
Wow amazing. How’s the daily driving?
I have sway bars on while on road, but it's doable without if you don't drive it hard into the corners 🤣
Wow. I would've thought the opposite. Great comparison
Yeah when you understand what the sway bar does it makes perfect sense. Letting the axle do that is the equivalent to body roll and the sway bar helps prevent body roll
Sway bar is good for normal cars when cornering
Do you have medium or heavy duty springs? I have heavy-duty and I run no rear sway bar on the back and I can't even tell the difference it's almost annoying I kind of want to put medium back on there even though I have Rock sliders and the same bumper as you with a winch. Do you have to run heavy duty with all that stuff or can you run medium with all that extra weight? Anyway what Springs do you have?
Umm not sure what rating mine are but their Dobinsons 200kgs constant load in the rear and 50kgs in the front.
@@adventureawaits4x457 oh ok thanks
Would you please be able to tell me what brand they are and where you got the disconnects from? Cheers
Glyn Edwards brand is "slick rock fabrications" and bought it from expeditionexchange.com/shop?keywords=slickrock&olsPage=products%2Fslickrock-fabrication-disco2-front-swaybar-disconnects-d2disconnect&page=3
but it seems like no sway bar would cause your axel to detach from the trans without it .. isn't that a possibility..?
june towel that's what your trailing arms are for. Taking sway bars off will do no harm. Other than the car handling like a boat on the road
Does this have sway bar disconnects or just now sway bar at all. Also does it have ace
ty572 it has swaybar disconnects and no ace
Good god listen to the cracking!
Hi!
Can you tell me the ref of your sway bar?
www.lucky8llc.com/products/lucky8-discovery-2-sway-bar-disconects
What's the clicking noise?
That will be the coil spring shifting around slightly in the housing
@@adventureawaits4x457 is it normal? I'm new to owning a disco so not used to hearing these sounds yet
@@kyleegeep yeah it's normal. I find it does it alot if I dont take it off road as much. But yeah nothing to worry about
@@adventureawaits4x457 awesome thanks buddy, by the way I was planning on putting a 2" lift on my D2 is there anything like prop shafts etc I need to be concerned about breaking or destroy anything else
@@kyleegeep all good :) with a 2" lift you want to lower your front cross bar or remove it as the prop shaft will hit on flex.
Prop shaft wise if you plan to off road alot then id say replace it, but if your only going every now and then and keeping the sway bar on, it should be alright but keep and eye on it just in case. "Side note, apparently rebuilding your prop shaft and modding it slightly will make it work with a lift.
Extending brake lines are a must as the stock ones will be at quite the tension.
Now with the abs lines, unclip them from the mount and lower them down. Top part of the plug should be clipped on by the bottom part of the mount. If that makes sense 😆 i think thats it
Yea but aren’t these solid axle
Yes and allows for more articulation.
Independent suspension has less articulation and more wheel lift. It's only good on ATVs with lots of travel and really soft suspension but normal Vehicles solid-axle is much better because it follows the land keeping the tires down. You can look up online ifs vs. Solid axle and there's plenty of examples
