I am 75 and turn 75 this last weekend. My Two daughters that are in their 50s were here to help me celebrate and we were watching some of your videos. My oldest daughter was really excited and said she was needing this kind of help and she’d subscribed to your channel also. Thanks for your help. Love in Christ

This is Paula Goins-Walters. That black sweater you are wearing is beautiful on you. The touch of red (?) just makes it perfect! If black is one of your favorites then keep on keeping on! Looks terrific!!!

I’m 54 and feeling like I’ve just been “calling it in”. I’ve watched several of your videos and have taken to heart a lot of your advice and it feels great to put some effort into my appearance. Recently a stranger complemented me on my necklace (which I never used to wear) and it felt great! Thanks for the inspiration.

I like the statement you made in regard to what one wore "in your 20 & 30's that do not represent who you are now as a more mature woman." As a more mature woman, I am not the same person I was when I was younger, but I want others to look at me as an accomplished and caring person. Thanks for sharing.

Love that you always put fashion in the context of “the whole woman” and not just formulaic dressing. Addressing alternatives for those with feet problems, those who have gray, or in my case white hair, and in terms of budget and lifestyle stages, etc. Style is our totality, not a single outfit destination. Thank you Kay always for your inspiration!

Kay, you mentioned limiting your color palette and I couldn’t agree more. I used to keep a rainbow of colors in my closet that seemed to result in having only singular outfits to wear as certain pieces only worked with other limited pieces. I have found more freedom and choices in selecting a few of my favorite and best-for-me colors/neutrals each season. I have so many more possible outfit combinations now. Thank you for another great video!

Good morning Kay! Thank you for this video and sharing photos of Lisa Foster. She is beautiful and very stylish! For many reasons, I have been trying to “find me” in the last few years. I felt lost in the fashion world, too. I do my best to concentrate and shop intentionally in order to coordinate several pieces that can be interchangeable. Solids do help. It’s a process but, I feel better now when I do make purchases. You have helped me so much! Thank you! May God continue to bless you! 💕

I own straight legged jeans, but I find my skinny jeans fit better in my tall boots. My boots have a chunky sole and even though these jeans aren’t really trending anymore I will still wear them for this purpose. I think that wearing a trendier boot along with other clothes that are more modern, can somewhat keep my look updated. Plus, I live in Canada where wearing tall boots keeps us warm so I’ll be keeping my skinny jeans to wear with them! Thanks for all your hard work and for helping us to look great!

I'm 56, and I believe that we each tend to look better in certain colors according to our "season"...I don't look at all good in neutrals or washed out colors. I look younger and more vibrant in bright pinks, bright blues, greens, and even orange. It is important to know what colors look good on our skin, and not just think about what is "on trend" or "appropriate" for our age.

It is about knowing your body type and taking the time to organize and pick out things that fit you perfectly. I love the monochrome look because I am short at 5”2 and am 130 pounds at 67 . My first job at 20 was in a retail store and I was always picky at what I bought and wore. I use videos and Pinterest to pin outfits I like, and then re-create them from my own closet! I am a classic minimalist wardrobe…😊

I just discovered your channel and am going back watching some of the older episodes. You hit upon a couple of things that I think are so important, the first being color. Like you, I have had blonde hair, fair skin and light green eyes, once I got a pixie type haircut, and with pale tops, I virtually disappeared. I let my hair grow and began to wear light bright colors. A truly positive change. …. But now, post pandemic and older, I allowed my hair to be its natural gray. I was hoping for white, but it grew in silver…. Not bad, but as I’m trying on my Spring/Summer clothes, I’m realizing it is necessary to re evaluate colors. i.e. silver earrings look better than gold, but a mix is good. I also will be taking your advice and pare down the mounds of costume jewelry. My goal is to balance my wardrobe with my season of life and current fashion. I have more things than I need, and feel comfortable passing things along. Thank you for your thoughts and wisdom.

I’m only 4’10” and weigh 93 pounds. Finding jeans that actually fit me is extremely difficult. Those wide leg jeans look terrible on me due to my height. Been trying to find some straight leg jeans. I’ll continue wearing the “skinny” jeans because they fit me and tend to not look so “skinny” on me. Alterations are extremely expensive. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Totally agree with you about keeping things simple. Yes, less is more. 😊

You look beautiful today as usual. I only wear my skinny jeans with tall boots now. I love the straight leg more relaxed jeans. I have a couple pairs of patchwork jeans too. I have a shoe/boot problem, need to clean out the closet again. Seems overwhelming sometimes. Love blazers!!! I also, throw on a trench coat and loafers over practically anything and look instantly pulled together. I agree with you in choosing more sophisticated colors and prints. Great video! Thank you Kay. Spot on, Kay!! My style and color preferences are definitely much different than when I was in my teens, 20's, 30's, 40's, and 50's. I'm 68 now, so I find that updated classics are my wardrobe workhorses. Also, I've made the decision to eliminate black and use navy instead. Brighter colors (tints) have made their way into my wardrobe. Now, I have a wardrobe that I love every. single. day!

This was really good. My mother always used to tell me that it’s important to dress well because if you look better you will feel better. Another tip for a bad hair day is if you can’t do anything with it wear a hair piece or if you don’t have one tie it back and wear a twilly or any other sort of scarf that suits you. Grace Kelly used to do that and make it look really chic.

Thank you, Kay for helping us keep relevant and poised as we age. Your tips are right on! If we all just make an effort, the other elements will fall into place. I always thought that wearing white was always complimentary to my skin color, but over the last few years (I am 66 now) I dabbled in wearing ivory. I feel so good in it, yet I don't really know if it is the right color for me. I find ivory so versatile, so I continue to wear these pieces. Great video.

My issue is that I'm a plus size lady of 67 and really would like some ideas for ladies of our size & age. Fashions in the stores are either way to young, too tight or too granny/frumpy. I buy classic clothes at Goodwill or on ebay. Suits with fitted jackets and pencil skirts are the best (although the dirndl skirts are more comfortable if I am going to be sitting a lot.) I still have a suit I bought almost 30 years ago, over time, lapels get wider, then narrower, or disappear altogether, then they come back, and I hang onto them. I don't know if double-breasted jackets will return in my lifetime, but I am still hanging on to one of those, too. Labels in my closet are Pendleton, Villager, Jones New York: the good stuff.
One thing I learned as a kid in the 60s about accessories: count everything you are wearing and stop at 10-12.
Glasses, earrings and shoes are 5 items. that leaves a skirt and jacket and blouse, (8.) you can now add a bracelet (9)) and a scarf (10)
A handbag makes 11. That's it. Less than 10 items, you are underdressed, more than 12 items, you are overdressed
    Try it

I agree with what you say about your taste in colour choice changing with age. In my youth my hair was honey coloured and I tanned easily. My eyes are blue grey. While I could wear both warm and cool colours equally well I always felt best in the warm colours of autumn and yellow based colours especially rust and sage. The interesting thing is that I had an aversion to grey. It just did nothing for me and it made me feel like death. However, now that I am 69, my hair now has a lot of white in it and since I don’t spend much time in the damaging rays of the sun anymore my skin is more fair. Also, as you are aware the powers that be have decided to insert the colour grey into every facet of design and fashion in the last oh ten years or more anyway so for all these reasons this colour has now found its way into my closet and it doesn’t look too bad on me. I still refuse to put it my walls though. Haha! Incidentally, I have changed the way I do my makeup as well.

A capsule wardrobe is also a big help, as thought and effort are essential in putting one together! Once you have done it - getting dressed is so much easier - everything goes with everything, and with fewer choices, it just is quicker!

Jeans fit is difficult for me in a number of ways. I have thin legs and no butt and some skinny jeans fit more like straight legs while some straight legs are too baggy. I love a boot cut with slim fit. Colors: I think black still looks good on me as well as bright colors. Very soft light muted colors and beige aren't great on me. I haven't noticed a big change in my coloring....I do color my hair. I have certain colors I prefer with change in seasons. I don't limit the number colors I wear but everything goes with white, black or denim. To keep my feet warm I mostly wear boots 3 seasons a year and admit I have a lot more than 2.

First of all, love your hair color, regardless of what you might call it. Color and cut is beautiful and frames your face. Love the fun sweater and I too have found I gravitate to black or navy blue since going gray, yet love my classic pinks, lavenders and blues. Love your tips.

I love linen for summer! I have several scarves that I'm still learning how to wear.

Kay you are inspiring, encouraging and appropriate in all your videos! I recently went grocery shopping and ran into a friend from church, I was glad I had spent a few extra minutes to apply some minimal make-up, earrings and a (3rd layer) cute light shirt jacket.

Great tips even for us ladies who aren't 50+ yet. I am in my 40s and still wear skinny jeans as they suit my body shape. I don't think you can go wrong tucking them into riding boots or pairing them with pumps or high heeled chelsea boots. I do agree that it is very good to have a variety of jean styles. I love wearing straight leg and flare/bootcut as well!

I am new to your channel and enjoy your tips on fashion! I think I do a pretty good job of putting my wardrobe pieces together, but I've learned a lot from your videos. I'm 68, so I'm open to suggestions. Thank you! I'm a fan now!

Good advice as always! Like you, I’m not sure about the puff sleeves or the patches. I am not sure they would look good on my small frame. I think you can pull them off though:)

NYDJ makes a very nice straight leg jean which is a classic cut and is called the Marilyn. It comes in a ton of washes and they come in petite, regular and tall.

I love your videos and tips. I retired almost 9 years ago and told my co-workers that I wouldn’t be shopping as much now that I wasn’t employed. 🤣 Well that turned out to be false. I love fashion and my lifestyle was more casual so of course I had to tweak my wardrobe. I did clean out and donate skirts, dresses and pants to a good cause. I did not need all that I had.
However is still want to look current and have certain stores I like. Talbots, Loft, Ann Taylor and Macys are a few of my favorites and I can order on line and usually the fit is spot on. I recently discovered Evereve and Kut from the Kloth jeans. I am slowly getting used to the straight and wider leg. I have worn skinny jeans for so long! During the Covid isolation I still dressed for the day as if I was going somewhere. It kept my spirits up and I think my husband appreciates that I wore makeup and dressed nicely each day. Thank you for the effort you put in your videos. And BTW, that sweater is lovely on you. It’s in my shopping cart waiting for a sale price.

I totally agree with you about denim. I live in a small town and the stores are still caring 2/3 skinny jeans. I don't understand why.

I've read that stores are still trying to off-load pre-covid & covid inventories & hence , doing extreme deep discounts to clear the warehouses . Personally , I wonder if many buyers for stores tho't the trend would last longer & over-bought ?

Thank you for sharing these tips! You are encouraging me to put that extra effort into my daily outfits. I tend to get lazy and in a rut with my clothes, especially when it's winter and I want to be all cozy and bundled up! I'm transitioning to my natural silver hair and a little nervous about what colors will work for me then, so I am going to revisit your color/tone videos and blogs. Oh, and a quick question about your Talbots heart top. It's super cute, but I wondered what you wore for jeans with it. Seems like a longer length top. Blessings to you!

Thank you so much for your videos! I just started watching recently and I’m 61 years old and my last year of teaching before I retire. I’ve been kind of just wearing whatever and not feeling very good about myself. But you have me paying a lot more attention to the pieces in my wardrobe and also adding thoughtful ones. I’d like to get some shoes and a blazer as you suggest, so I’ll look for that. I could really use some simple make up tutorials and accessorizing for the over 50 group! God bless you.

I wish I could wear more of the new trending jeans, but I’m just too short. I mostly stick to cropped jeans. Those fit me as full length jeans.

That’s really a perfect option. And places like Loft have great jeans in petite sizes too. And Talbots does as well.
