As much as I enjoyed this film one could not help but notice the terrible ADR and occasional spots of bad editing. Such a shame as I did really enjoy the film.
@@wcsdiaries The audio they will have (perhaps) recorded on-set will've been deemed to contain too much wind or car noise; so the dialogue you're hearing is recorded weeks later in a studio; they have done a bad job at recreating the feeling that they are travelling in an open-top car; the voices sound off
If someone showed this to me I would've assumed it was a bad UA-cam dub. The normal person at home has the tools now to get high quality audio, but the talent isn't necessarily there. For two seasoned actors, this is actually crazy. Not sure how much of it is the engineer's fault, but this is BAD bad.
The ADR is a load of ass, but I’m just as distracted by the excessive jump cuts in such a short timespan. The angles are also super ridiculous for two people just casually talking. It all looks like something better suited for an intense car chase scene haha.
i dont mind the occasional irregularrities in the lip-sync. What is awful is the obvious glueing, stacking and clip length enhancing that even left no room for breath :D its hearable throughout this dialogue. and its really weird, kind of dead feeling :))))
It looks like at the end of the clip when he's waving his hat over his head, his mouth isn't moving but there's still dialog. That bugs me a little bit...
Sounds to me like the dialog here was taken from the front or rear main channels instead of a center channel by the person that did the original recording and encoding of this clip.
I heard this entire film was one train wreck after another, all I saw were clips of Leo's emotionless banal line delivery and that was enough to keep me away.
I can only assume the people that thought this was a good (not from an enjoyment aspect) movie, are either intentionally ironic, or completely blind and deaf. This movie, from a technical aspect, is awful.
If you have Leonardo DiCaprio that means you are working on a movie that should have no shortage of budget when it comes to good sound, there is simply no excuse why the sound captured on set wasn't usable and felt they had to use ADR which should not had been this out of sync nor this poorly mixed in with the sound effects. A lav mic built inside the car should have captured good audio whilst the driving stunts were taking place in those wide shots but a shotgun mic should have definitely got what they needed on those close-ups there is really no excuse.
Wow this is The Room-level bad ADR. Leo did not sound like he was speaking those lines.
Timliu92 it's most likely a vocal actor doing it, an impressionist
It's as though all of his acting choices that he made whilst filming the scene were completely disregarded when recording the dialogue replacement
Honestly I did not notice this lol, I learned what ADR was today and looked up on UA-cam for examples and wow
i dont get it....the audio doesnt match the lips fully?
haha same

@@adamlee3333 how can you tell if a movie is ADR? for example are big movies like lord of the rings, gladiator, etc also adr?
@@wcsdiaries Lord of the Rings final audio was 90% ADR!
Greatest example of cinematic "style over substance"
That's every one of this directors movies. It's all bs fluff
That's Baz Luhrman for you.
"The way he spoke! No wonder so many people thought he was lying"
This minute and a half scene if one of the most confusing things I've ever witnessed.
Also if you notice, when he holds up his hat as he turns a corner, there's one shot where his hat is back on his head, then back in the air again.
True.. the publicity must suck.

Engineer? You mean sound editor?
this can't be from the film...no way...
It is dont worry
I noticed this as well. Takes you right out of the movie...

Late asf but that’s Baz Luhrmann editing for you haha, imo it kinda works sometimes but other times… yeah it can be way too much lol
This happens in the entire movie. Watch the hotel scene closely
It’s a shame considering this is the same director that did Moulin Rouge.

Also, in the last shot cars he was passing by disappear :P
The ADR is poorly executed, but that supercharged car is superb 👌

im watching the movie right now in my english class and im so pissed off right now about the cuts coming from everywhere
That looks/sounds AWFUL
But Baz Luhrmann!

Oh man, that toby inner monologue is hilariously bad🤣
That was the most realistic dialog in the entire clip!
@@chasemer6 is that......supposed to be a compliment😂
This is the first scene I've seen from this movie (outside of memes); not getting a good first impression!
The editing is horrendous.
It’s all part of the director’s style
Who here after nostalgia critic reviews of Madame web
Welcome to Baz Luhrmann's work in general...
i watched 4 minutes then played FIFA
What's up with his accent too? Sounds like Leo is doing his best impressionation of Billy Zane in Titanic.
It is Gatsby. A nouveau rich guy mascarading as old money.
Well it was an awesome car.
Wow it looks bad.
voiced by Yuri Lowenthal
Is this really how bad it is in the film? I never noticed lmao
A wonderful example of how not to do things.
Fast cuts can't hide shit work.
"The way he Spoke...!" .....His lips didn't even sync with the dialogue.
he's narrating 😐
@Toxxxic Kay :3 no Leo's dialogue is not in sync. It's like that bit in Singing in the Rain where they mess up the sound in their first talkie.
This movie was a mess, i hated it, still can't believe i finished it
I kinda think that’s baz lurhmanns style.
Best scene ever
Okay. We didn't get it. The ADR was supposed to be for an Animated movie
This looks more like a dub of a foreign film
ADR another dirty room
Terrible editing also. A lot of this can be fixed by changing the sound mix, except for that last part where he obviously isn’t saying anything
This is so bad it's like, 1970's Kojak-era ADR.
I can only assume the people that thought this was a good (not from an enjoyment aspect) movie, are either intentionally ironic, or completely blind and deaf. This movie, from a technical aspect, is awful.
Oh this is awful.... is this actually in the film?
Sounds like a badly dubbed Anime.
Awfully done. So goofy

This reminds me of MXC... it’s so awful, lol
Yeah, but where MXC did this intentionally to be over-the-top funny, this movie is trying to be a serious drama.
It doesn't help that the camera editing isn't good either. It's way too frenetic and over stylized.
This is not bad...It is a different style.
For my personal opinion, the thecnical aspect of this film is so good. And i really like the editing.
Jesus Christ...
I hate that guy
Jesus was gay that's why he was crucified
Holy shit this is bad
Unbearable movie, one of Leo's worst
