One useful tip that I seen in another video for removing the centre top shock is to loosen it very slightly /crack the nut while the shock asssembly is still in the car. This saves allot of time messing around when don't have impact gun.

Good tip about moving the nut before raking things off. Also after using the jack under the wheel arm to remove the down link you need to remove the jack so the tension goes out of the shock absorber and it all just unbolting and comes off.

Noise was probably due to knackered drop links or blown struts, bump stops don't make noises unless they have completely fallen apart. Should have replaced the struts at the same time as yours are most probably shot.

Are there any specific dimension specifications for the shock absorbers and the springs?
    Thank you

Hi, useful videos there mate thanks. I also saw your video about the front bump stops. I recently had both my front shocks, springs and top mounts replaced with OEM parts. After a week there was a strange knocking noise on the nearside front. Noticed the the bump stop has dropped. Will the genuine Honda bump stops fit my struts (KYB)? I took it to Honda and they're also saying because I didn't use genuine parts, the springs aren't properly seated to the shock assembly. Cos my rears also need new shocks and Honda quoted me nearly £1400 to replace all 4 corners!!!

Jay Arellano wow £1400 , yes I used genuine bump stop kit in some after market front shocks all fit perfect , I've lost all faith in Honda regards to fixing and servicing , did all 4 corners on my Civic with new genuine bump stop kits for around £300 . That's fitted by myself .

I will retrieve the car from Honda today, pay the Labour for diagnosing the issues, give the report to a local garage and get them to sort it out. I'd love to have a go myself but I haven't the tools and space to do it. The only worry I've got is that none of the local garages see much of Honda civics.... Probably a testament to its reliability.... So I'm not sure about their expertise in sorting this out. What I've done though is write down all possibilities that i've read on civinfo and will also be providing the mechanic a link to your video. Hopefully the sorts it all out..... Im only doing this cos I know it's a good car once all the issues are sorted. The only comment I can give I suppose is the lack of torque but maybe a remap will improve this

I've just realised that the front shock absorbers installed two weeks ago are Anschlers and not KYB. Are these any good? My springs are KYB. Cheers mate

Hi mate, I bought the Honda bump stop kit and now having problems with fitment. I had the top mounts replied 3 weeks ago, and these mounts came with bearings which was then removed to fit the bearing that came with the Honda kit. They don't seem to match, do I have to have original Honda top mounts to accommodate the bearing that came with the bump stop kit? Thanks mate
