Wild Turkey 101 is and always will be the undisputed king of this game, but EB99 comes a fair bit close
I bought this today at my local liquor store for $20. I did pick up the cinnamon notes on the nose and pallet. Add a new one to my budget Bourbon list.

I was going to grab a bottle of Wild Turkey 101, but this was right next to it so I took the chance. So not disappointed.
I'm still waiting on Ezra Brooks 99 to show up here (in TN) too. The 90-proofer is a solid mixer for sure.

I got a bottle of this a couple of weeks ago. Never had any Ezra Brooks before. I thought it was pretty decent. It has a different profile than most of the bourbons I drink. The only thing that would make it better is getting it for $25. I am in metro Detroit and paid $30.

I got a bottle of the ezra brooks for 9.99 on clearance. Yesterday I got a bottle of old tubb for 19.99. I have not opened either yet. I can see some blind tasting in the future.

The 90proof for $13 in a LITER up in Wisconsin is worth it. This at $23 is not... unless I somehow missed something when I popped this last night I just don't see ever buying another. ET BiB kicks this around all day at the price point as does OF100

I just found an Ezra 99 and compared to the Old Ezra 7 101 and the Old Ezra 7 Barrel Proof it is far inferior. I hope it opens up in a month

Not a fan. Did a blind with Ezra 99, WT101, MM101, ET BiB, Very Old Barton 100 and it was the clear loser. Should be a sub $20 bottle. There are far better for less (i.e. Very Old Barton 100 for $13). Fair disclosure - I'm not a big fan of OE7 either.

I am a total novice (started drinking during Covid!) and have tried a few bottom shelf bourbons in the last year and a half or so.
Found Ezra 90 and it's excellent and a great value. Figured I'd try the 99 but much prefer the 90 TBH, but again I don't really know what I'm doing, not
a "pro" at this.
Always good to keep trying things, no shame in liking what you like. I'd say try out the wild turkey line up, probably up your alley as well.

Actually tried WT one time, prefer Ezra 90 and also like Rebel Yell, which I know is quite polarizing. Also just tried JD, and preferred Ezra to that by quite a bit, which I was a bit surprised by based on JD popularity. Any ideas for a "starter" Rye?

no comparison. old tub tastes like dirty dishwater. this is closer to early times bib. different flavor profile but also a tremendous value for the cost.

I am not sure I understand the product marketing/segmentation for this label. This is a batch proof 99 v. their normal 90 and their barrel picks, at 107 (all non-age-stated)? That seems like some very thin slices for roughly the same product. If they wanted to slot something in between their wide release regular 90 and the 7yr Old Ezra, I would have preferred an age stated 90, even if it pushed the price to $30-35.
They're honestly pretty different on the pallet, I'd rather have the barrel proof over either the 99 or 90
