Very cool of him to play along. You can tell he is a bit out of his element. If any of you are musicians and you play amazing at home and going to guitar center makes you sound like a noob. Its about mentally being there. He is more comfortable on stage, in pro studios, at home than in a very crowded room full of terrible tone and mediocre players. Believe it or not band chemistry is very real.
Very true... I find this very interesting... You can play the song perfectly when everyone knows it, but if you feel like someone isn't up for it you tend to listen more to what's happening and maybe focus more on just getting everyone through the song and not pay that much attention to your own playing... This happens to me all the time when practicing new material with the whole band... I think he should have listened to the drummer because he was up for it,... And that bass player kid... Give him a god damn compressor pedal, his dynamics were all over the place.. 😅
aand we learn years later he was on pills..so, you can easily see it on him here with the super pale skin n all. crazy. opiates will make you play exactly as he is here
True. One of the last few times after HCDR i remember he played well, was during their Chaos Ridden Years: Live at Stockholm DVD. I did enjoy the DVD, but would have enjoyed it more if the gain from the guitars wasn't so much in the production mix. I would have toned it down just a tiny bit.
Great for those kids to have an opportunity to jam with their idol! Ok, the solo went badly but I understand that. I can't play any fast stuff if I haven't warmed up.
+Pablo Navarro He created the solo, far enough respect for him. It is none of our concern if he wasn't in the mood of playing nor if he hadn't warmed up before playing nor if he hadn't practiced his own song in a long time. Props to that dude for answering the kids questions and playing with them. An authentic guy for me, and I'm not even in that genre of metal.
but u cant be missing that bad if u r a pro imo, i dont see other players playing that bad, thats why u a r a pro in the first place, just do ur job or u end up like Lars Ulrich (shitty drummer cos he doesnt practice)
Your definition of "pro" might be (definitely is) different than the one from another person. For me, being a "pro" is nothing more than an adjective that other people will call on you if they are amazed for your skills on a certain practice, such as playing an instrument or an sport and so. You are the one that choosed on the first place to play the instrument, you're not responsible for other people enjoying what you do and calling you great at doing it, it sounds even dumb explaining it, it's just as incoherent as asking somebody how can she/he be attracted to somebody! Adjectives shouldn't define the way you permanently must behave, we are humans, not machines (at least that's what we used to be), we have our ups and downs, our broken wills and desires and you weren't born to amaze and impress the others around you. That's a very dangerous mindset for yourself and humanity as a w(hole) in my honest opinion. Do what you enjoy, if other people agree or disagree with your art and your skills it's none of your concern. Again, props to that dude for doing that.
@@Corpsvore In fairness, 17:07 was abysmal. The rest of the solo was hit and miss, but that little section when it’s mainly just guitar solo was terrible.
the jam with the kids is beautiful and those kids are really nice and cool and i love them, kids that age are suposed to be cringy but this dudes have an amazing attitude. my ego was bigger than my body when i was that age
I would not have had the spiritual capacity to enjoy meeting my hero and play with him, it would've been traumatic for me at that age. I would've probably cringed him to death.
Probably nervous :D . You know it's totally different to play your songs with people you have toured with for over 15 years than people whom you don't know at all.
+Michael Tucker u know ... i see that comment here and there and i agree..... u think he might have something of a health problem or an eating disorder? hope hes ok XD
this is what i wanted to find out, alot of metal band lead faces are promoting veganism, which is really fucking bad . and they have no nutritional information to offer, it is sad that people are being lured into this trap and using creative people like bands to promote it, its not a good idea to never eat animal products, i do think alexi sounds weak, he is thin yes too thin , i hope he stops this religion of veganism .
Is it really a playing-issue though? To me it sounds like a recording-issue. Especially at the 17:06-part - whatever they are recording with can't seem to separate the frequenzies enough at the highest notes and there is a buzz that drowns them out that´s very noticeable from 17:06-17:10. To me it looks like he's playing just fine, but the notes aren´t penetrating the other sounds at that moment. Any sound-engineers or mixer-folk here that can shed some light?
I'm sorry mate, but it is a playing issue. I loved Alexi as much as the next guy, but there he just cocked it up big time. The only high mid range instrument at that timestamp was Alexi's guitar. The other guitars were in the low mids and the keyboards were relativey quiet at that spot. My guess he was out of it, not warmed up, or possibly both.
He fucked up that solo hard xD, never caught him before, in such a bad performance. He didnt warmed up,his right hand was really inacurate and his left was stoned its audible and visible clearly
Oh and if you narrow-minded think this sounds terrible, you should NEVER go to a live concert, of anyone that doesn't have pre-recorded/lip-syncing (like Britney Spears & others do/have done). Or else you'll be very likely more disappointed than this. Side Note: He's not a professional teacher of it, yet. Deal with it(or not watch this, your choice, right? lol).
lol So many of the comments/complaints are SO hilarious. DAs are so funny when they comment (along with their pic). Go play COB songs like a pro in a closed room full of complete strangers. I'm SURE you'll be more than comfortable (*sarcasm) LOL
Say what you want about the solo, whether it’s fine or bad, but I’m sorry. That fast run... Ouch, just ouch. Really bad setup and high action is one thing, but I don’t know if that excuses.. that. One string ringing and practically none of the notes being played (17:07). That’s definitely the roughest I’ve seen any guitarist play their own solo.
