R.I.P Alexi Laiho as well. I've been listening to Children of bodom for 11 years. I've been a metalhead for 12 years. They were one of the first bands I found.. Are you dead yet!? I like your Bmth pfp to.
It's weird watch everything but in shock...just for the feeling of the past and the emotion of his life ...in his most amazing state= creating music having fun.
The last time I watched a Bodom making-of video, it was them drinking, walking around town shouting perkele this and perkele that, tripping over curbs, laughing, drinking some more, rolling on the ground, and somewhere in the middle of all that, an album came out xD
I agree, man. I can't fuckin' stop listening to it. And when I play it on my guitar, it gives me goosebumps! This song is intense, specially the chorus part!
You are the reason why I've always wanted to have a Jackson V guitar, which I finally bought in 2007. Your image is what I have always imitated. It's just too sad that we can't escape death's grasp even when it takes the most wonderful, talented, driven and inspirational people of our lives. You'll live forever in our hearts, play persistently in our minds, and resonate endlessly in our ears. Rest in peace, Alex "Wildchild" Laiho. 🖤
15:11 "love me" could've been left in. I've noticed Steven Tyler will sometimes hide rhyming innuendo and puns in his layered vocals. I think it's cool. Interesting video; really surprised by the whole warehouse location (Alexi did say he spends his money on cars, and there they are) and I'm surprised they weren't constantly fighting outside sounds like trucks going by or planes flying overhead. I wonder where the warehouse is located? The location reminds me a bit of STP's Tiny Music... which was recorded in a beautiful mansion in the Malibu hills, and they used different rooms, including the bathroom, for different effects.
God why did Alexi Laiho have to die so young? He had so much more musical genius left to offer. I only got to see him once, but I'm lucky I got that much! He was a fucking legend! Love that man, and his music has touched me in so many ways!
At 1:37 during the group vocals. Isn’t that Daniel to the left of Alexi? I know Alexi said that he wrote and recorded all the guitar parts for this album. Maybe the didn’t know Daniel was gonna be the future guitarist? Or maybe they have some sort of ignitiation that he hasn’t completed yet? After watching the FB live event yesterday it’s almost like they don’t treat him like a “REAL” member. Idk

@@brandonharris9160 An interesting position. Have you had the chance to see him live in the past? The place they played in Charlotte NC was a small place and I heard they were hanging out after the show at a bar having drinks with fans......an extra kick in my spleen!
This album fucking RULES. all for nothing is beautiful as fuck. Prayer for the afflicted is goosebumps city melodic like when I first heard everytime I die. Widdershins is fantastic. This is the culmination of everything bodom. Best record ever.
He is appologizing making a mistake. This is real professional behaviour, actually. After all these years of fame and success he is still the same guy - down on earth and reasonable. I love these things om him, it's important to stay true to music.
In Finnish music scene people didn't look it the same way, but I'm saddened to see him go. First album is still embeded in my heart from +20 years ago!
The guys in COB dont seem to have had anywhere near as much fun while recording I worship chaos as they did with all their other albums and i think you can hear it in the final product. Wether its because they are getting older, or the band dynamic has changed in Roope's absence i dont know but I worship chaos is definitley my least favourite bodom record. Morrigan is dope as hell though.
This band used to be great in the late 90's. Hatebreeder really blew my mind back then but after Follow the Reaper they started shedding their neoclassical sensibilities and became a more straight forward type of metal band. Thats fine but for me it just doesn't get my dick hard. When they came out I was a big fan of black metal mostly from Norway but as a guitar player I was really into Malmsteen (instrumentals), Becker, and MacAlpine's early stuff so when I heard a band that was heavily influenced by the Malmsteenesque harmonic minor and Phrygian based solos and riffing but was heavy and had harsh non melodic vocals I was sold instantly. The thing I hated about Yngwie was his pretty boy vocalists and his conforming 80's style and approach. It was cheesy as hell but was peppered with these amazing guitar solos. Some say black metal is cheesy but in the 90's there was nothing even remotely cheesy about it. It was still pure in many ways. Bodom was the first band I ever heard that borrowed from two styles that were seemingly unrelated and IMO took what was good from the neoclassical thing while shedding the butt rock part of it. They made it harder, heavier, harsher. When your music is so melodic you don't need a melodic vocalist over top of it. Contrast is an essential ingredient to any artist. Bodom made great use of contrast with a harsh vocal over tons of melodic hooks. It was one of their strong points as a band. They still have it today but I think Bodom lost their edge years ago. 3 very strong albums out of the gate. Thats enough to make me happy. I got 3 albums I really like and a slew of others I could give a shit about. They gave me 3 albums and thats enough to earn my respect.
+Kris Ross Same here but I can definitely say 4 strong albums because in my opinion Halo of blood is as good as the 3 that you mentioned. Alexi is a fucking genius.
