Not quite what I really wanted to produce today - I started to prepare a nice demo of the Roland SH-4d - but it turned to combining my new favourite synths: Roland Jupiter-Xm and Roland SH-4d into this track.
Putting these amazing synths together to create a space ambient Berlin School track was really nice and easy.
With both you can create on the fly and have really nice results!
Roland Jupiter-Xm provides pads, sequence 1, lead and drums.
Roland Sh-4d comes with the bass line and sequence 2.
No MIDI connection between them.
Some additional delay & reverb effects were added from Logic Pro X.

Thanks for your videos, I am a big fan from long time ago!! Can I ask you something? I have a Jupiter XM and I bought a SH-4D. After a couple of weeks....I sold the SH-4D as I found it a bit....weak, compared to the XM. Obviously I didn´t play it as much as I should but know that I can see you have it, what do you think? Is it worth it? How do you like it compared to the XM? Thanks!
Definitely it's a good addition to the Jupiter Xm when coming about sequencing. Even they have some engine similarities, characters are quite different and they match great. Xm has (at this moment) much versatility and a smoother sound, but I guess with the further updates, the SH-4d will become one of the nicest music boxes.
Hey man love your videos, what do you think, SH-4d or say a JD-08 +JX08 + maybe SE-02 for messing around with the some 80s/90s synth sounds. Sh-4d looks nice but am worried it might have lots of menu diving + higher learning curve.
Anythimg that suits you! It’s nice having a compact tool as the SH-4d (easy to learn it btw), but also, having other gear will help. Also, start slowly not to mess up your budget!
What do you recommend as a rompler that one can use to build layers and tweak here and there to hit a sweet spot? I am torn between the jupiter xm, the sh4d and a controller, or the fantom 06. I really enjoyed playing my JDXI because the sounds and patterns inspire song ideas that I can fully flesh out into songs. I mostly enjoy composing on the sofa or carpet. I think I can handle the fantom 06 on my lap since it is only about 12 lbs. I really enjoy melodic atmospheric and ambient patterns.
All three are great, just depeneding on your budget.
