Nice review.Osc sounds good but what about the envelopes ? Are they snappy as a real sh101? Punchy envelope is the main part of the sh101 sound .Can tou do very short pluck sound and short punchy bass sounds without loosing definition of the sound?
yes, unlike years ago, digital envelopes these days are indistinguishable - just got to listen to the ACB models and Encore to hear there's no perceptible difference between the old analog circuits and these.

Not sure which one to pick it’s between this or spend more and purchase the Jupiter Xm. I’m not a keyboardist but l like the I-arpeggio on the xm and l like the sequencer on the sh 4d. Which device has the better sounds?
Don't quote me on this, but Im sure the Jupiter XM, specially for the price of it, has all the sounds the SH4d has and then some. I tried out the Jupiter XM in store, and I was overwhelmed by its depth, its too much imo. The SH4d is much more immediate while still being deep AF from a sound designers perspective....

The Xm has the Encore engine, which is essentially the digital version of everything Roland has ever done! This is based on that tech but you don't get anywhere near the flexibility. This, however makes it more focussed. I found this a lot more approachable than the Xm I had (I got the system 8 instead of the Xm because its more knob per function like this).
If it does Voodoo Ray, I'm satisfied.
