  • I had to re-upload the video because of some problems with audio. Here you can see different options for use with this machine. Very good for generative music. Better with earphones.

    Great demo of how to make a simple arrangement of parts by muting and fading them in. Nice idea of using chance to keep it interesting. I’m sure I’ll utilize what you’ve demonstrated. Thanks.

      Many thanks! This is the page:track in the song Mode. You have 8 pages with 16 tracks for page, so you can create up to 128 tracks. In song mode, you can jump from one track to another for make a entire song

      @@adsrsynth Wow, that is great! Somewhere I heard there was NO Song mode but that is exactly what I want to do... I guess the tracks can be in any order you press... they don't have to be in numerical order? Thank you very much!

      @adsrsynth  Рік тому +1

      @Valdis Krebs This mode allows you to play tracks in the order that you press. so yes, you can use it in this way.

    • @Beatprisoner
      @Beatprisoner Рік тому

      The machine does not have a song mode and will never get one.
      The numbers on the screen indicate the selected and next pattern in terms of bankID:patternID.
      The machine therefore has storage for 128 (totally independent) pattern. That‘s all.
      A song mode would allow you to create a list of pattern to play and other parameters in advance.
      Anyway: excellent song/performance. Very contemplative.
      Please, more videos like that. :-)

    • @valdiskrebs566
      @valdiskrebs566 Рік тому +1

      @@Beatprisoner So, we can play a song by choosing the next bank/pattern ID in a performance... we just can't record it ahead of time... right?

    I loved reading some of your replies to peoles questions.
    Im debating on getting this synth but the lack of a librarian annoys me. I hope this is fixed soon.
    Which other hardware do you own? Im mostly interested in this for the portability factor. But i really wanna know how deep I can get when programming sounds. I love to sound design and i love the idea of the many sound engines - i just cant tell the depth of what can be done on them. As mostly so far, videos are only showing pre made patches and not much in sound design. Almost rompler-esque so far!
    But 11 engine types, surely it would be capable of a vast variety of sounds (like microfreak) in that sense. Not too sure... 😔😔

      Thank you for your words mate. I love playing music and sharing my music, feelings a my humble knowledge with other people.
      About your doubts I understand them. You always will find in all devices the lack of some feature (sequencer, effects, modulation routes...) and of course I agree that roland sh 4d must improve and can improve. All depends if Roland want to take care about their products or they only want sell more nada more.
      What I feel with roland sh4d is that is very funny and in spite of some needed improvements you can use very easy and sounds great. MC707 for example is more capable, but making sounds here is a pain for my opinion. You must dig too much for obtain what you want. In Sh4d is more immediate.

    • @adsrsynth
      @adsrsynth  Рік тому

      About other hardware yes, I have others grooveboxes, and synths. Roland sh4d is for me in the middle of one synth and one groovebox. The sound that you can obtain is not so powerful as you can obtain with hydrasynth for example. The effects are OK, but is not a reverb like a novation peak for example. I think that roland sd4h is very balanced. But you can find opinions from people that don't like this device..

      @dannymolns3573 Рік тому

      @@adsrsynth appreciate your reply! Yes I currently have a peak (my fave) and a Hydrasynth that i got recently. Didn't like the hydra on my first play (the tone didn't wow me) but there's lots of time to get into that in the future.
      Sh4d makes me wanna have something I can really have on me a lot and design as opposed to say, grooving.
      I also just love the way it looks. The colored LEDs, the knobs, the black paint job. It's gorgeous
      I appreciate reading all your replies and I hope to see more videos pop up on this synth soon but it's not looking super popular in the synth world right now from what I have seen

      @Danny Molns give you time with hydrasynth... is very powerful synth, believe me!.
      About sh4d, some synthesis motors are powerful. The possibility to draw the wave is amazing. The sh4d motor with 4 oscillators... I think that you will enjoy it if you buy it. And the possibility to use it with batteries is really great for me, but the taste with sounds is something very personal. Yo must decide bro.
      Yes I want to upload some vid with this early

      I'll encourage more videos from you on this synth, as you are able! Not even just for me but I know there's gotta be other people feeling the same way.
      All there is mostly are intial review etc on it - no sound design, hardly any jams etc

    Really enjoy some of the timbres here, especially the arp, and the lead at 5:30. If I may offer some constructive feedback, the hihat definitely comes in too hard for an ambient track. Once all the elements are going by 6:00, the hihat fits in, but it's relatively abrasive when it enters. Some possible solutions are to put some attack on the ADSR, or filter out some of its lows or highs, or sweep it in slowly with a bandpass filter.

      Thanks.
      Interesting question. I think that SH 4D has several things that make it great machine.
      First of all, and for me very important is the portability. You can play with it for hours with batteries. This give me much freedom for use it everywhere.
      Second is the workflow. You don't need press more of two buttons for access to all options. With all these knobs you can change everything. (For my opinion still needs some updates, like metronome, count in, can load your own wavetables, length for notes in sequence (you cannot put the length for duration). So, if you want to play one note or chord and the duration is more of one step, the synth refill as much steps as you press. The sound tie each step so you don't listen nothing strange, and it sound like only one long note but is not usual for me. And another thing important, you cannot save the project entirely, you must to save each part separately, tones,patterns...and is a little pain for me opinion). I hope Roland listen the community and can make some interesting and important upgrades.
      Is not a big machine, but even with this size you have keyboard (buttons) for play. 2 octaves, so is another plus very interesting and useful.
      Modulation matrix is not so powerful like novation peak or hydrasynth for example, but with so many font options I think that you can generate a lot of sounds.
      Effects are decent, and for example shimmer reverb well configured can be amazing reverb (I will try to upload one video with this). Maybe peak has best effects, but as I say you, enough if you use them well.
      Roland SH 4D has not entire zen core, but the variety is big.
      For me this synth is like Roland JD XI but muuuch more powerful.
      I hope that my comments can be helpful for you.
