I'm not defending her but I think she may have been saying that to goad a confession out of him. People are more likely to confess if there's a way that makes them not look so bad. As adults, we are supposed to protect our children, not abuse them, rape them and murder them! Shameful! R.l.P. Carlie. Sooo sorry for the parents, friends & community!
How can judges tell grieving families not to show any emotions when verdicts are read? I don’t understand when they do that. I don’t care if it’s a courtroom.
I feel there's a difference between showing emotion during sentencing, which is totally allowed, as you can see her mom crying and she was not thrown out, and screaming and shouting, which is disruptive. Everyone needs to be able to hear what's going on, that's simply a fact of procedure.
These sick bastards should not have the right to continue living after what they've done. Carlie only got 11 years on earth because of this monster, so how in the hell should be be allowed to live out the rest of his natural life in prison? And that goes for anyone else that's taken a life intentionally imo. The irony of him claiming to "take full responsibility of his actions" when they first announced his death sentence only to directly go on to try and appeal it. I guess he takes full responsibility for his actions but not his consequences though. Shocker...

I remember this. I used this case to teach my daughters to NEVER comply; yell, scream, holler, scratch, and kick. This broke my heart then and still does now. 😢
Big difference from when cops used to tell victims to comply and not fight back. To walk a mile alone was very dangerous. The parent from the overnight should have delivered her to her family or waited for the pick up.
And this case was tried in Florida. Not New York or California. I understand the need to protect the rights of everyone, even criminals. But this trend towards giving second chances benefits the criminal. Not the normal citizen.
The law does very little to protect its law abiding citizens. There will be a time when ppl will be asking themselves whats the point of following the law.

turned 19 November 18th 2005 😔 I had no idea about this. Katrina was more "bigger" 😒
His brother is shady too.
It's good that he gave the cops their initial confirmation. But he hid information multiple times. And then more than a decade later, he lets the second victim slip & says "I'm glad authorities are finally doing something about her". Well why didn't you mention this years earlier. You clearly knew he did her too.
That guy knew a lot more than he was saying.
Exactly. His brother should've reported right away about Ms.Tara's case if he actually did knew something. He even knew about Carlie but it took him long before reporting.
It is so tragic.
One man's brutal act let the whole family down.
Very sad.
May Carlie rest in peace
Dang that's great surveillance footage at the Carwash for 2004. 😶
Considering it was in the dark ages 😆
I was also 11 years old at the time Carlie disappeared and l live about 15 minutes away from where this happened. I'll never forget this case.
I was 16 and lived a quarter mile from the car wash. It was awful. Even worse were the rumors we heard at school.....
How do mothers claim to love their sons then try to excuse them committing a murder?! Revolting people.
Most women are conditioned to over value men!! Even though ALL women can see what men do to the world and women
A good mother would still condemn her son crimes
@@rdred8693Uhh no. That's a morally bankrupt mother. I have sons and if they did this shit I would bury them under the jail.
How can this disgusting person say spare him because he has a family? This beautiful innocent little girl has a family, did he thought of her (just like his kids) and her family?

Carlie Mother died in 2017 due to a Heroin Overdose. 😢
I bet her uncle committed suicide as well 😭
So tragic 😢
Sooo sad. I cannot even judge a mother that grieves their small child, when they died in the most brutal way possible. She must’ve felt pain that is unimaginable. I don’t blame her for trying to escape that pain
You should never judge ppl who use drugs anyway...the majority of the time they are using to kill some kind of awful pain like that poor woman :(@@CJLOVE23
Poor lady 😢
Thank you for another well researched, compassionately presented case! 🙏🏻💖
Carlie must have been so scared and to have her life cut so short is so devastating. Rest in peace
Duh, no I'm sure she was solid as a rock....
She's in heaven now, God bless her pure innocent soul ❤❤
Dark hearts run in the family! How could the mother even suggested that it was an accident even when Joe said it wasn't!!! Shame shame on her.
I'm not defending her but I think she may have been saying that to goad a confession out of him. People are more likely to confess if there's a way that makes them not look so bad. Like in interrogations where the police say something like I know you did it in the heat of the moment, you'd never mean to do it even though they know it's not true.
@@kylieh123No.
@kylieh123 Maybe true to some cases, but definitely not this one.
@@liliesrniceTry to keep an open mind.
Just sick!!😡😡
As adults, we are supposed to protect our children, not abuse them, rape them and murder them! Shameful!
R.l.P. Carlie. Sooo sorry for the parents, friends & community!
Thank you as always. Love and light from North Yorkshire 💜🇬🇧
They should show it anyway. Wtfs the judge gonna do?
@@annoyedkitten4964💯
@@dontbewokeRemove them.
You can show emotion and still respect the court. 🤦♂️
What a horrific story. The poor girl and her family. All the suffering.
A death sentence is rarely a death sentence. 🙄
Shocker...
Rip beautiful girl your memory will live on. You are with your mum. Now
It’s crazy that two other people did look like him …
Definitely very weird.
Those responsabile for him being out of prison , should do time.
you can see why he turn out like this with a mom like that
👍
Oh yeah, always blame the woman. It's never a man's fault. Lots of us have tough upbringing but don't do this.
And his brother!!! Both POS’s !😡 Drugs are also not an excuse!
The brother saying he was going to sell photo's to the media too! What a top notch piece of crap entire family.
@@ivydickson7596Lots of horrible mothers create monsters. Watch enough of these videos and you will see.
Such a devastating story. You did a wonderful job honoring Carlie's memory.
Thank you for the upload. This is one of those cases thats impossible to forget. I will never forget that cctv footage of her. I haven't watched this episode finished yet but I know you'll show it. RIP Carlie 🙏
I HATE when ppl call evil disgusting vile ppl animals..poor animals, I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard an animal kidnap and rape an 11 y/o. I feel like now days ppl are starting to realize how wrong that comparison is and ppl don’t say it as much now. She was a beautiful lil girl!
This is my thought exactly. Animals don't behave like this. That's why we choose the bear.
@@TenaciousTDI’d always choose the bear
Lol calm down.
Killing babies and doing sexual things to them is prolific in the animal world (dolphins and chimpanzees are famous for doing awful things to babies of their own and other species of animals) . We need to stop comparing these people to animals because they don't have the same human morale as us. We shouldn't dehumanise these bastards by comparing them to animals who don't have the moral compass we do.
I completely agree with you. To call those people animals is an insult to nonhuman animals.
😡😡😡this makes me so fucking angry..ppl that are clearly guilty of this kind of crimes should receive way worse punishment than just jail🤦♀️
Me too!

A memorial garden was placed on the spot where her body was found behind the church. Volunteers used to maintain and clean it but over the years it became neglected, overgrown with weeds and even vandalized.

THIS is how you do a story that’s been told before in true crime. Provide updates. I would’ve never known he was still appealing and getting things overturned recently. Great job. 👏🏾
My heart breaks for this baby. We were the same age, would be the same age today. I couldn't imagine what she went through. She had her whole life ahead of her. RIP Carlie.
One of my favorite channels!
Thank you, TC
@Him_He_Me the police isn't set up to protect people. They are set up to protect property.
Evening my truly criminal family. Hope everyone is well. Much love from South Africa ❤
Greetings from Tampa Bay Florida.
I absolutely adore your narration. Your empathy for the victims and the victims loved ones and friends who are left without the answers, missing a very important person for the rest of their lives. You show each and every one of them so much respect, and I respect you so much for that.
How awful for Carlie!! And her poor family!! They’ve gone through hell since the day Carlie walked by the car wash. Thanks for the tip-tier video as always!!
His birth was "an accident"!
Omg how terrifying poor girl my heart goes out to her family❤
How is this child's memorial "abandoned "? The entire city should be ashamed of themselves!!
My heart breaks for her. She had her whole life ahead of her. I’m praying that she’s resting in peace ❤
I’m in Sarasota. I remember when this happened in real time it was devastating to the whole community. I was living only 3 miles from where it happened. My daughter was just a year old. I could not imagine something like that happening to her . Evil is real.
There is No Way in HELL that he should have died of Natural Causes 17 years later...He should have been toast years earlier!!!
I had personal & prolonged experience of the same drugs & more. Not once in 20 + yrs have I ever not remembered what I did. I might have not wanted to remember, but that is a totally bogus excuse.
Accountability. GOD BLESS YOU ❤
My heart breaks for the family because the aftermath destroyed them. Family died, the mom took to drugs and prostitution 😢
The chain of events is just heartbreaking.
And that mother calling it an accident- she is part of the problem. Coddling your monster son!!!!!
That part 🗣
I love your channel but found this episode very hard to watch. Crimes against innocent kids are the worst society have to endure, I can't imagine what her friends and family have gone through. Fly high little Angel, you're with God now 💕🕊
An accident? his mother is a monster as well
I’m like Pavlov’s Dog… the notification bell goes off and I drop everything… 😅 Nothing like listening to the soothing narration of a well researched case with compassion and respect for the victims and their families. Thanks so much for making Saturdays so much better! Have a great week ahead everyone! ❤
No pavlovs dogs were abused with electric shocks and killed in a lab get it straight
Good grief, poor girl. Poor family. Horrific.
Thank you from your biggest fan in Seattle🙏🏿
The brother is just as much of a POS. If my brother did what that man did, no way in hell would i be communicating with him in prison, much less coming up with a secret code to communicate with him. Hearing the enabling mother made me sick too. No wonder her sons turned out that way.
Videos done with such care, thank you
He's a monster not an animal. And that mother failed miserably raising her despicable sons Joe and John. Complete failure. RIP Carlie. So sad about her family, too.
So sad that Carlie's Mother died of a suspected drug overdose, she was heartbroken by the loss of her daughter😢
That judge telling them to “slow down”….🤡🤮
What an outstanding tribute to Carlie! Wow, this was so detailed and thoughtful. Thank you so much! I live about two hours away from Sarasota and I have never forgotten how devastating this story was. Then, in February 2005 another young girl was abducted here in Florida. Her name was Jessica Lunsford, and she was taken from her home by a repeat offender. It’s a horrible case, but I would like to see it covered.
What got me is when he said to not give him the death sentence to “spare his family” what about that poor little girl you violated and murdered and abandoned- what HER family? Absolutely disgusting
An accident? Her arms were bound. Did he think she tied herself? Rest In Peace sweet Carlie❤
Thanks for the video, sissies! Don't recall ever hearing this one before. How sad for Carlie and her entire family... talk about a ripple effect on how one "man's" actions had affected so many. Joseph, John, and his mom all sounded like pieces of trash. Also sad that Tara's family will never be able to get justice for her.
Anyhow, hope you ladies are enjoying your weekend! Stay safe!!
Born and raised Bostonian here. Talking about the Pats when they were unstoppable had me choking up because it looks like we won't see that again for many, many yrs.
What a completely unnappropriate comment....
RIP Carlie. Thank you Truly Criminal 💠
He's sorry because he was caught
This is heartbreaking 💔. She was so young, just beginning life!
I love your narration of these cases tho, unfortunately it's such a sick world out there.
So happy i came across your channel. I love your voice as well as the coverage and long length of the vids❤
Thank you so much!
I can usually get through these videos without crying... But thinking of all of the people affected by her murder and thinking of the pain that this poor little girl went through for no reason just shatters my heart... And for her memorial caretaker to be so affected because he lost his own daughter to murder... It just breaks me 😔
Perhaps consider taking a step back from true crime if it's affecting you like this.
I wonder how his children feel, knowing that their father is a monster.
I have heard Joesph wife kick him out and file for a restraining order for her and their children before Joseph kidnapped Carlie.
I'm sick of addicts using their addiction as an excuse for committing horrendous crimes, especially towards children. As if he'd never would've done that if he'd been sober..smh. BS. He obviously already had those disgusting thoughts in his head and this time he decided to act on it. 😡
I was so sickened by this that I couldn’t watch after you mentioned her body was found. I’m so sorry for all who loved this beautiful young girl.
All the family should’ve been jailed. SMH 😢😢
Carlie's friend's mother must feel shocking having let the young girl walk towards home against her mother's wishes.
The mom holding the kitty while talking to the press eas heart breaking. It might be her daughter's little cat.
The devil is everywhere 👹👿❗️ Do NOT let your children out of your sight! It’s your responsibility to keep them safe❗️❗️❗️
I watched this yesterday on your Patreon and wanted to ask if you take case recommendations. If so, I'd love to hear you cover Sean Dugas from Pensacola, Fl. I went to high school with him, and we ran in the same social circles. Super nice guy. He disappeared during Hurricane Ivan and was murdered by a set of twins. They'd killed him for his impressive Magic Card collection, that (I believe) was valued at over a hundred thousand dollars. They killed him, packed up his house and his body in a U-haul truck, and drove him across state lines to bury him under their father's driveway in Georgia. He was a journalist with the Pensacola News Journal with his whole life ahead of him. Thanks if you do cover his story😊
Wow, sounds horrible and over nothing, really. What did the twins end up getting as their sentence?
I recall that stupidity was covered on the IDiot channel, ? which program, but he didn't get equal justice; the 1 sack of slime got LWOP but the other not; a measly 15 years cause that was determined to be more the Trusting Soul ttagalong than actively complicit. Some people just canNOT add right! 😡
So very sad! I appreciate the way you tell a story. ❤
