Thanks for helping! What a nice sturdy lock set up and a wonderful video to guide it back together!
It is a little bit--we were using a cross-section with a damaged lock in it, so it wasn't in straight. Thanks for watching our video!
What if the key doesn't come out
Hi would you happen know of a multi point lock that can be installed in iron doors
Mine is very hard to lock. It was just installed by Home Depot and is difficult to lock and unlock. Is there an adjustment?
Hi Terry, do you think it's the handle or the lock that's the problem?
@@AllAboutDoorsandWindows It's the two locks on the top and bottom. If I open the door and lock it, everything locks easily, but when I close the door, it's very hard to lock. It seems the top and bottom locks are quite tight. Is there an adjustment?
@@terryjones8360 Yes -- it's possible that the lock isn't aligned with the strike plates (or holes) in the door frame. I would open the door, engage the locks, almost close the door and mark where the strikes should be in the door frame and see if that's where they actually are.
@@AllAboutDoorsandWindows The door is just a bit skewed. The top does not quite close against the seal until the three point lock is engaged. I can see the door move about 1/16" as I engage the lock. That's why it hard to lock. It's perfectly plum, but the door is not quite straight. Nothing I can do about that, I guess.
@@terryjones8360 We would suggest adjusting the hinges to move the door properly into the frame. You run the risk of damaging the lock over time if you leave it like that.
And what if the handle latch fails with the door closed ?
Test it before you close the door. You can test whether it's working or not. Be careful that your shootbolts don't damage the floor, though.
All About Doors and Windows what if it broke when the door was closed ? Then what .
All About Doors and Windows the door is not locked but you cannot open it the lock is not broken the handle latch is it just will spin around and you cannot open the door to access it
