If you are having an issue with your screen on your Andersen screen / storm door sticking make sure to check out my UA-cam short on this subject. People have reached out to me this issue so hopefully this helps! ua-cam.com/video/wFzbnIPw5Y4/v-deo.html
Thanks for posting this video. I have 2 of these doors on order, and expect to be installing them in a couple of weeks. Yours is the only video I found showing installation of a 4000-series door with the updated Smooth Control closure system.
did you have any issue with the door knob rubbing against the storm door's knob? Looks like you have the same amount of clearance as I have, and the same knob, but it's measuring 1.5" clearance vs the 2.5" that's required. Any issues?
@@NorthFork yup, i learned that the storm door handle is set at 41" from the bottom, and that's the usual mid-point of the door's knob and the deadbolt. Good design by Anderson.
I just had it installed. But can you believe I cannot use that top part because the door cant open 90 degrees due to it hitting the wall? The handle prevents that as it juts out. Those nice people at Home Depot and Home Depot’s installer basically said it’s my fault because this was the door I selected even though they came out to measure it it’s only off by at least an inch too.
@@jarnec9428 Ah man thats too bad. Unfortunately the door wont lock open unless you can extend it to the full 90 degrees and there is no way to manually lock it in the open position. I'm surprised they wouldn't give you a discount since they were the ones who measured and installed it!
@@NorthFork you know, Anderson sent me instructions on how I can adjust the closer to at least an 85° opening to get that system to work. I’m surprised this information was not included with the original door instructions. Have you ever heard of this option? Thanks for all your help.
No I didn’t. The way the door goes in it would never leak. I have had the door for 2 full years and we have heavy rain and wind often and so far so good. It is a great door. Expensive but you get what you pay for
When you set the door in the frame you put a screw into the frame on the lock set side. Is that correct? Or should you try to center them besides the lock set that is the most confusing part. I can't put together the lock set either.
When I set the frame I squared the door in the frame and screwed it in all the way around in the pre-drilled holes so the entire frame was level and square. Make sure your level sides and top/bottom before you screw the door tight. Im not quite sure what you mean by "center then besides the lock" The lock set I made look easy on the video installation, it took a fair amount of fooling around to figure it out and the directions weren't clear enough. Not sure how to give you any tips on it but I do remember it had to go together a little different than the directions indicated if I remember correct. This door set DID NOT go together as easy or as fast as the directions said it would! I cant imaging getting a lower end version of the door where you have to put the frame together separately.
Nice concise video, great overview of the installation process! I am looking to install the same door, but can't seem to find it online. Did you purchase it from Home Depot or somewhere else?
Home Depo. They had them available in store. Stuff is getting harder to come by these days though. Best screen door I ever had A++. Way better quality than most screen doors hands down you get what you pay for!

No I don’t however my door handle is lower than the screen door handle so they wouldn’t touch anyway.

Does the 4000 series come with the pneumatic door closure on the bottom of the door?
No just at the top of the door and it is built inside the frame so you can’t see it. It is a really clean design and good looking door

Am looking at this door, so thanks for the video. Question though: you didn't caulk around the frame at all?

I can’t get my slider to work 😔
I have a short posted/pinned in the comments showing what that problem might be 🙂
That storm door handle is $87 dollars now 😮
That’s crazy! I can’t believe they went up that much! Too bad wages weren’t keeping up with inflation!
