The integration of keep with calendar, I love keep but have not used it like this. Thanks for sharing its an awesome and useful tip.
This is something new, Thank you 🙏
My pleasure 😊
I am using the whole suite of google products along with Evernote for larger notes / notebooks of things for software engineering, etc. loving googles workflow
Very nice tutorial video Scott. I enjoyed not only hearing your voice but also seeing you. It makes the videos much more engaging.
I'm so glad to hear that! Thanks for sharing your feedback.
You always provide so much useful information. Thank you for another terrific video!
You are so welcome!
Great Video Scott! I always enjoy your Google integration videos. One thing I wanted to add on the integration between google drive and keep. If you actually hit the "new" keep note on the side panel (Instead of right clicking on the text) your keep note will have a link to the document it came from. Just like a gmail. Just copy and paste your notes into the new keep note. This comes in handy for me when I have multiple references I need to use for one document and the document link serves as a label in keep. Just passing this on, you have already known that. Merry Christmas to you and your subscribers.
Thanks so much, James. And a Merry Christmas to you as well!
Useful and time saving. Thanks!
My team learns so much for your short, info-packed, clear videos. Thanks so much. Ps. We are neighbours... I’m in Victoria :)
You are so welcome! I'm so glad to hear that you and your team enjoy my videos. Wishing you all the best on the Island!
Thanks, Scott. This video is a keeper. So many useful tips packed into it. Things I never knew existed.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Appreciate the tips. I will definitely start using some of these.
Awesome. Thx. Happy holidays!
Thanks for keeping up the good works
Impressive as always. Keep going Sir.
Excellent video Scott! Very helpful.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!
I had no idea! Wow...super helpfu.
Excellent explanation!
Glad it was helpful!
Can’t wait to see this!! I love google videos
This vid was great
Thanks, David.
Scott I'm LOVING these videos! VIDEO SUGGESTION: Label Creation Best Practices. As I said in another comment, I have over a decade of labels, sub and sub sub labels and I don't even know where to start, plus I don't know the best practices of label creation. I normally create a label for every newsletter that comes in (different source, new label) and every invoice/receipt/bill that comes in (each bill has it's own label.) It's become a nightmare and I'm searching for best practices on how to organize my labels and how to undo the time consumption that occurs when I just try to find a labeled email since I have way too many labels. I hope you make a video about this!
There's a great video about how to create a label taxonomy (something like that) by Bryan Jenks. It is based on Obsidian (a very interesting app) but the concepts apply very well no matter what kind of app you are using. I recommend you to watch his video.
Perfect explications!
Awesome, utility from that panel. Can you add from keep to Gmail? Because that would be an amazing way to manage form emails.
Great video. Just came across this channel and it's awesome. I watched one earlier and it showed how you can view labels at the top of your inbox. Can anybody direct me to that video. I've watched so many of these I've just lost track. Thanks
What a great video, very good!
Thank you very much!
Thanks
As always: great input. Listen, you have influenced the way I go about my day and work tremendously. I have never been so productive. Lately, I was looking for mind mapping apps, watched your video and later stumbled upon „Ayoa“. This app also has a task management system you can set up like a kanban board. Mind mapping and integrated task management! Wouldn‘t that be worth a review?
Jonas, I'm so glad to hear that you've found value in my content. Thanks for sharing and for including this recommendation!
Hi Scott, your videos are so good! I'm so glad I found your channel. I never used that sidebar and I had no idea what Google Keep was so I never use it - until now! I wish you'd make a video on email alias best practices. I've created several email aliases for my gmail domain and it's becoming cumbersome. I'm not sure if they are even necessary. Ex: if a candidate wants to send me a resume, I have apply@, for bills I have bills@ but is this really productive? Do you have all of your emails going to one email address and just use filters to manage what comes in or do you find creating alias emails a productive step?
thanks
awesome!
This integration is great. However, what happen when you are off-line? I know Gmail supports off-line access (only Chromium based browsers) but, what about the others?
BTW great video. Thanks 👍
Great stuff! Do these work with the Gmail mobile app?
I love the panel
The Google environment is just getting better and better
thanks for this video . One question , Can I add multiple gmails to asingle note ? Thanks so much for Your videos. Gracias
I'm wondering if the side panel will be available across any website on google chrome? That will be super helpful to access one of your pinned keep notes or create a calendar event while browsing any website!
Nice video it was helpful for me in the situation i am today stuck in...😂😂
Nice presentation 👌
Thank you! Cheers!
amazing content. can we sync this multiple calendars and tasks
Which of the Simpletivity videos should I watch to help with the Gmail side panel calendar option? For some reason all of the events/tasks on my calendar do not appear in this side panel, especially those created by another user that I have accepted and confirmed attendance.
Hi Scott, thanks for your help the last years and best wishes for 2021.
I have a question about this subject, that I use a lot.
I have 1 general calendar where all my appointments and tasks are.
But I have 4 Google accounts, all of them with their separate GMail, Keep, Drive, Tasks ...
Is it possible to save an email, an appointment or a task from the individual accounts to my general calendar and tasks?
I think it is not, so I have to make the appointments and tasks by myself in my general calendar.
Unless you have the solution to my problem.
Greetings from Belgium.
Thanks! my panel wasnt showing on one of my google accounts, its hard to find if you dont know where to look!
What program you use for this instruction, filming you and the screen and the yellow dot pointer?
@simletivity Thank you for the video. However, I could not figure out how did you add Contacts to your sidebar ? 0_o
another way to add a task to google tasks from Gmail is to check the box next to in and drag it to the google tasks window just like you would drag it to a label
Great site. I have a question. How to launch a task linked to a calander event ?
Via Gmail is clear but at times I have tasks resulting from a specific calander event. Can this be done?
How do you get the calendar over in the collapsible panel by the inbox(showing the month)?
Thank you for this video. What I cannot locate is how to get those options in my side bar. I have Keep and Tasks but not Maps, for example in Google Calendar. Can you point me to instructions on how to get all available options? Thanks
Me too . I am using iPad
I am the IT guy at my company, I would love to have an icon on the side panel that would allow employees to click on it and it would open up a template that the employees fill out and then click a button to send a ticket to the IT department. Is this possible? Thanks..
This is cool, but it raises a question for me. I don't really expect the answer to be found in this thread; It's just worth mentioning.
The question is this:
What percentage of professional people in America use Google Apps for their day-to-day work and where do these people work?
I expect that there is a divide between professionals who work for larger companies/institutions and small shops.
I have worked with and for large businesses and institutions for decades.
It seems to me that once an entity can host its own web and mail services, free and publicly available accounts like Google apps are out of the question for work. This is mostly (or maybe exclusively) because of security and privacy concerns.
My current employer has banned Google apps outright. Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Calendar are not accessible from within my workplace domain. Period.
So, do companies use Gmail and other Google apps because they can't host and manage their own domain services?
I certainly wouldn't. I think Google apps have a lot of nice features, but given my (admittedly limited) experience with them, they are not enterprise-worthy.
Scott, VIDEO SUGGESTION: If it's not already created, a video about how to clean up your filters. Gmail doesn't seem to have much if any features that help you clean up your labels and the associated filters and I have 100+ labels and filters are just as bad, many of which are not needed now because over time, I unsubscribed to certain things that the filter / label applies to or I stopped using the tool/software/app that a filter / label was created for. The challenge is sifting through 100+ filters and labels (and sub labels, and sub sub labels ugh). It's so tedious trying to find which filter belongs to which label in this case. VIDEO SUGGESTION: How to clean up your label and filter nightmare. I'm trying to spend 20 minutes a day doing this but It's so monotonous and time consuming. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Hi Scott. Amazing videos. Hey, is there a way to remove the tasks add-on, or any other of the Google services add-ons?
I don't know of a way to hide these apps in the sidebar.
Let's go
Is there a way to link an existing keep note to a calendar event?
I might be late to the party! :D But, i had tasks icon on my google side bar, then when i just started with g suite, i removed it as unneccesary, how do i put the tasks icon back in to the side panel? Tried to search for it and it's nowhere to be found.
The side panel does come with a set of icons but i want to add Google drive to the side panel , can that be done?
Great video as always! In Gmail or Google Calendar I don't see the map or the Contacts icon in my sidebar. Upon further investigation, it appears that Contacts isn't added to everyone's sidebar yet. It looks like they started adding that feature back in Nov 2020. I guess I just don't have it yet. :( I will keep an eye out. Looks like a useful feature.
That's right. Contacts may not be visible to everyone just yet. But you should see it within the next few weeks!
To activate Contacts Icon in GMail Side Panel go to Google Admin > Account > Settings > New Functions and activate Rapid Release and wait 24h > voilá :-) It works for me
I do have Contacts in the GMail panel
I have a gsuite/google workspace account.
In my sidebar, only calendar and contacts is showing. I cant find an option to add tasks and keep there.
Any idea?
if you pin notes in keep does the related note still jump to the top
Hello, In my laptop when I use Google drive, I receive an error message saying, ' the system encountered an error '. And sometimes 'you are offline'. Because of this, I cannot share links of files and also cannot upload files to Google drive. This happens only when I use my laptop to access Google drive and not in my smartphone. Is there any solution? Thanks
I have "delegate account " and the side bar is lost from that inbox, is there a way to fix it?
Great video -- how can I get the map and contacts into the side panel? Please advise!
Both of these should be rolling out to everyone in the coming weeks. So keep your eyes peeled!
To activate Contacts Icon in GMail Side Panel go to Google Admin > Account > Settings > New Functions and activate Rapid Release and wait 24h > voilá :-) It works for me
can this also be used on other webpages eg, on random websites for note taking on other webpages?
No, at least not at this time. It is only viewable on certain Google apps such as Gmail, Calendar, and Drive.
I see that you have google maps on the calendar side panel. Can you do a video on how to install Google Map addon on your calendar? I spent all night but still can't figure it out. Thx
Same here. Has anyone figured out a solution?
The Google Maps add-on icon just appeared automatically on the right hand side of my Google Calendar. Hopefully yours will have updated too.

@@darius-b I will keep looking. Thank you.
I am missing the google maps icon on the sidebar, can you help me?
7:32 Why isn't there a way to add a new contact (not just those in the email thread) using the Contacts Gmail Side Panel?
What is the map app called for the side bar? I have gone to Google Workspace Marketplace within the Google Calendar side bar and typed map but nothing comes up. Thanks
It should be rolling out to all Google users soon.
Also available on the side is Google contacts!
Interesting. I don't see the Contacts icon in GMail either. And you have one other icon showing that I do not have. But I don't know what it is. You don't cover that in this video.
These should be rolling out to all users in the next few weeks.
To activate Contacts Icon in GMail Side Panel go to Google Admin > Account > Settings > New Functions and activate Rapid Release and wait 24h > voilá :-) It works for me
side panel disappears in new Gmail , is there a way to get it back in new Gmail look
But wait there's more! We don't need to meet in the closet any more, Life is so beautiful with calendar.
What are some of your favorite add ons?
How to use Reminder in Google calendar, effectively ? Actually It doesn't remind anything.
I don't see notes in the Contacts side panel in my Gmail (G Suite for Business).
The calender keep notes "related" at the top thing just straight up doesn't work for me. if i click off of that event it drops down my list and stays there. The link is still on the keep note, but thats not exactly useful?
Is it just me?
Yes, it does look like something has changed recently with this feature. If I find out more details, I'll be sure to share.
@@Simpletivity I'm having the same problem. Have you found out anything?
Does not work for ipad where there is no such side panel!
Kema
Can't seem to find the Maps slide :
Mine only appears in calendar and not in Gmail for some reason.

To be honest, 90% of the things Keep or Tasks can do is better done as emails (drafts with labels), you won't even have to leave the gmail screen or open a panel. Calendar is different of course.
Overly exuberant, rapid speaking cadence is a bit harsh. Good content as usual, though.

Very informative, thanks.
Is there a way to go between Gmail and Keep?
Pickup a note from Keep and embed it into Gmail.
Also wondering about this. Keep appears in the side panel for GMail, Calendar and Drive ... but not vice versa. In fact, the side panel isn't accessible at all from Keep, which feels like a major oversight.
