    Hey thanks for critiquing my video!
    Very helpful! I never thought much about measuring the time under tension but will start working with it.

      No worries, you have a strong base so shouldn’t take too long to fine tune

    Thank you, Paul, I will be using a few tips you mentioned to hopefully achieve some clean reps. I have problems with under balance when I go up, but I believe I have enough strength for a few good reps, so my issue is probably my technique/alignment like the guy in the first video.

      Yeah allow your knees to bend slightly so it pulls you over a bit more

    The tip with the outer rotation was invaluble! I still have a long way to go though because I can´t even do a military press with half of my bodyweight yet. But I´m still working on it as long as I still have to go easy on my wrists. Funny but they don´t hurt as much as handstands. I guess it´s ´cause of the flexion in HS. Thanks for the awesome Q&A, Paul!

    Amazing episode so much information, thanks. What do you think about eccentrics with straddle legs? I find that i can maintain more control although i imagine my form is bad

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  2 роки тому

      Thanks! Yeah some people find the straddle easier. I personally prefer straight as my body tends to hinge at the hips if I straddle

    I can do the HSPU with a 4" deficit, but not without turning into a banana! My knees bend on the way back up, and at the bottom of each rep, my scapulae come together as one. Tons of stuff to work on here. Thank you Paul! If you ever do another Q&A on this subject, I will send video.

      Yeah it’s very common. You’re probably riding the edge of your one rep max so body line and balance will be a struggle. I’m planning on the one arm q&a and then doing a regular one for any of the movements

    Hello Paul. Please share some wrist strengthening drills. My wrists pain if I do any of the hand balances. :(

    Hey Paul, you went over it a decent amount already but I was wondering if you could elaborate a little bit on shoulder blade position throughout the range of motion? Where should the blades be through the various phases of the hspu? Thanks a ton!

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  2 роки тому +1

      I’m not 100% and try not to over think about scapula position when training or coaching HSPU. I concentrate more on not collapsing and holding strong positions. So more protraction at the start and then as the arms bend there will be some retraction and depression to allow the chest to open. It’s a bit like anterior or posterior tilting in the pelvis, I don’t think about the tilt, instead I concentrate on the body being one segment.

      @@PaulTwyman that’s a great analogy with the pelvis and helps me visualize the movement a lot! I’ve had tons of experience with overhead presses with free weights but never had to protract on top while you’re sitting/standing with a bb or dbs so it’s a learning curve with the motor pattern. I’ll find a regression to work on the dynamic movement of the scapula, thanks a ton Paul you’re the best!

    Do you have a tip for getting first free handstand push up? i can do the shoulderstand really well, ecentric free standing is very controlled and 5 sets of 5 stomach facing wall handstand push ups but i just cant do the concentric free.

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  2 роки тому

      Sounds like you are close. I’d add freestanding partial reps. Slowly getting deeper and deeper, use a target. Hope that helps

    How many elevated pike push ups do you have to do to be able to do a handstand push up?

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  Рік тому +1

      Impossible to say. I’d work freestanding eccentrics and partial range while do the volume with pike PU. Then keep testing the full rep
