Absolutely INCREDIBLE performance. I hold my breath every time he hits and holds that note. Knowing now how sick he was and that we lost him 6 weeks later, this performance is so endearing. The backup singers shouting encouragement and Elvis smiling and just pouring his heart out. It's always bittersweet for me, but I'm so glad we have this and that God gave him to us for a little while. There will never be another like him.
Even though, or because, his body was suffering so much, and the portal of death was approaching, I think this is his best version - sooo much soul force. It really is wonderful how your soul responds. I think that he was and is a great saint.
Love this song and elvis sings it so beautifully and with so emotion ,he one alot of gold records for his gospel music.. as sick as he was he still had such an amazing voice and give it his all... please can you do a reaction to the live version of why me lord
Absolutely fabulous! Sarah, my name is Marcos, I speak from Brazil and I saw this video yesterday by accident. I was curious to imagine what would be the first reactions of someone hearing these hymns of praise for the first time. Thank God, I was lucky enough to be born in 1971 and I grew up listening to Elvis and I noticed that as he got older, his voice improved, reaching spectacular notes that even today give me goosebumps. Their backing vocals team (The Sweet Inspirations, The Imperial Quartet, The Stamps, etc) were certainly angel choirs, such was the sweetness of their voices, and I couldn't forget to mention the incredible and late J.D.Summer! The owner of the lowest bass note that ever existed, Guinness Book holder who are sure to sing together praises in the heavenly realm. I was very pleased to watch their first reactions and I confess that this also brought me to tears. A big hug and may God bless you.
1977 the last concert. And still his voice belted out even though he didn't have as much breath as usual. He gave his fans right to the end. And he smiled. He knew he was dying "I thank you all^ Beautiful reaction Sarah ad always xx
There's our beautiful Elvis singing this song with so much passion and emotion and the power in his voice just shook thru my heart and soul one of the greatest singer of all time
BRAVO!!! Magnificent and yet so sad! He never lost his sense of humor and especially his voice!! Beautiful man, inside and out. Great reaction. You're so sincere. Thank u for TCB ⚡ and keeping his legacy alive. 👑❤️
You do great Elvis reactions. I thought you might do one for his death anniversary to celebrate his legacy and his talent to remember him as she was more than an entertainer, August 16, 1977. I’ll never forget that day a celebration that Elvis has went home to the father not in sadness. I believe God put Elvis here to bring people closer to him
This version always brings tears to my eyes it is a magnificent performance that voice I don't think ever sang it better, and to think not more than six weeks later he had gone but my never forgotten
I saw Elvis the movie a few days ago and fell in love with Elvis all over again … so many years but it seems like yesterday … an incredible human being: a voice from heaven and a beautiful soul. We miss him so much!!!!
Seems fitting and a little eerie this was only a short time before his passing, his funeral was something else, fans from all over the country and the world.
His legendary vocal would be allowed anywhere from the Apollo to the Vatican to the largest and smallest venues in the world. Amazing one of a kind giant of humanity. Like Reverend W Herbert Brewster stated God was able to use Elvis to help bring people together.
Love youre reaction, bless you for your feeling. Gospel was one of Elvis favorite types of music and literally the first music he ever sang when very young. Elvis left us and even as ill as he was in the performance his voice never failed him even near his passing here in this video. RIP ELVIS
I also got to see him in 76 Dallas TX December 28th I'll never forget it I've loved him ever since! this is my favorite version of How Great Thou Art he put his heart an soul in it brings tears to my eyes he was a beautiful Blessing to the world 🙌🙏🤗❤❤❤
Thank you for this! Been a long time for me to hear Elvis doing a gospel song. I can remember being amazed by him and the gospel choir back up, and feeling like I was being lifted straight into the Heavenlies! That is where he is now in the throne room worshiping GOD!
This his last concert and still THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER THIS WORLD WILL EVER SEE!!!!! The power passion emotion and magic that touches your very soul. When Elvis sang you could feel it not just hear it. Elvis was like a God among men a gift to us all from GOD himself. Long live the KING.
I love your reaction. I've been an Elvis fan since before he passed. He sang as a young boy in Tupelo Mississippi on porches with the black blues musicians. His heart and soul of music started there and gospel.
Love your reactions! You are so heartfelt! Thank you Sarah. 🥰 Once Elvis said he loved singing "You Gave Me a Mountain" (in a random interview). Could you please react to it some day? It's from the same concert in Hawaii. Many thanks, and God bless! ❤
Love how Elvis sings this song makes me tear eye , how he expresses his love for God....He was known as king here, but he knew in his heart who the the real King was, very humble man, than the Creator took him home 2 months later...🙏🙏
God bless my boy, this was his last show ever and he passed away about six weeks later and yet he didn’t let his fan,s down all though he was in so much pain, sleep well my super nova.
@Sarah- Nobody could sing How Great Thou Art like Elvis. This is a great performance here but I think I still like his 72 performance of this song is better. I highly encourage you to visit Elvis house Graceland in Memphis TN sometime. I always say that everyone at leasts once in there lifetime should go visit there. It really is an experience.
Have you reacted to Why Me Lord, live in Memphis 1974? If you loved this touching gospel performance, I think you would also love this one. He could touch your soul when he sang like no-one else could.
Sarah: don't let it "break" your "heart", you are watching him live (we all are)...You "hit the nail on the head"; when Elvis died, Jimmy Carter (US President at the time) said that "Elvis was unique and irreplaceable" 👍💯👏
hi Sarah, what to say .. yet another beautiful reaction full of emotion, you move me every time . And what about the performance of Elvis, out of class!! I think God must lean on him in heaven and say proudly, look at my son.. for your next time, I propose you My way , (ua-cam.com/video/zR_NwNR9vTc/v-deo.html), same concert, a few weeks before his death . Chills guaranteed . I wish you a very good week, take care of yourself and above all continue . kisses of France
Big fat thumbs up. I guess I saw this not too long ago but it came back up since I hadn't seen your recent one from 8 hours ago. But man this is one of the greatest performances ever. It just is difficult initially to watch because this is about I don't know weeks before he died. And clearly he's not healthy they had him on so many drugs at this point and it was just so sad. But every song from this show is stupendous. His version on here of Unchained Melody just kills. But this version of How Great Thou Art I think is his best ever. Just weeks before he died. Most people tend to listen to the one from the earlier '70s which is really only four or five years earlier and it's great for sure, but this is on another level, it's just on a completely other level and I've timed that last sustained choir phrase before - I'm a musician and a vocalist too, and I know there's some staggered breathing in there. But if you pay attention to that incredible combination of background vocals from JD Souther and crew, you know the guy that sings the super deep bass, and then the Sweet Inspirations, the black ladies that were so incredible. It's about a 35 second sustained continuous phrase through the end of that to where he finally crosses his arms and waves the end of it. I know they're taking turns early but not at the end; that's full-throated for several seconds. At top volume. And he himself is in quite the high sustained phrase. Wow and his voice and his mastery of his voice just kept getting better right up until the day he died. It's just mind-bending to me. At any rate, I noticed you have just wonderfully expressive turns of phrase. Such beauty filled with vibrancy was one thing you said. Passion. And then in this one, how fast it put you into a spirit of worship. I am not a practicing Christian right now although I grew up that way and I felt like I only ever added to it with other explorations like Buddhism and so forth. It's still all right there and I don't have a problem with it. But this was my favorite hymn growing up and it was also my grandmother's. And I literally sang it at her funeral out in the middle of nowhere here in Kansas on a prairie. This song is always emotional to me and he just brought it. Thank you for doing the reaction.
A very similar live rendition of this song in 1974 would earn Elvis his 3rd (should have been many, many more!!) Grammy award. This performance resonates even more with his fans. You can sense Elvis’s cry to his Maker, for an end and reconciliation for what many truly believe he knew was coming. Such power and grace from the greatness that is and always will be Elvis Presley.
ELVIS PRESLEY sang praises and religious hymns to God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit he never stopped singing to him his voice is heard even more beautiful singing to God few singers still do it and they are counted he knew the word of God he was a Baptist the records he recorded in life religious hymns are a success listen to the hymn reach to jesus it is the truth you have to pray and ask him to help us God the father greetings to the driver of the channel thanks for sharing
ELVIS!!! OVERWHELMING!!! Wonderful video!!!

I love your reaction of pure surprise and joy. He touches everyone in such a deep way and he loved his god. Wonderful wonderful! ❤️🙏
A beautiful reaction.
The second I hear his voice I feel it
Even though, or because, his body was suffering so much, and the portal of death was approaching, I think this is his best version - sooo much soul force. It really is wonderful how your soul responds. I think that he was and is a great saint.
What a beautiful true reaction Sarah. What a beautiful soul ,voice and smile he had.xx
I have watched this clip of Elvis a million times, and I tear up every time. Love it!!!
INCREDIBLE performance
This was Elvis's last performance he died six weeks after this. thank you for another great reaction.
Oh my God really??!
It's Almost Like He Knew He Was Going Home.
Elvis performed another 5 shows after this performance
it was NOT his last performance, his last concert was on June 26th and was NOT filmed for this CBS special, it was roughly a week before his last show
This was his very last concert, there was no more
Amazing video. Thanks for sharing.👑
Holy crap...your reaction got me emotional!! ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT REACTION SWEETIE!! 👌 👏 😍
Love this song and elvis sings it so beautifully and with so emotion ,he one alot of gold records for his gospel music.. as sick as he was he still had such an amazing voice and give it his all... please can you do a reaction to the live version of why me lord

Thank you for reacting and sharing. Sarah, I love to see you react and cry and I cry too.
1977 the last concert. And still his voice belted out even though he didn't have as much breath as usual. He gave his fans right to the end. And he smiled. He knew he was dying "I thank you all^

Your comments are beautiful. I agree what a special soul.
His passion for the lord and love ❤️ tyvm, I cried 2 , I'm so glad you found Elvis ❤️ he was gone less than 2 months after this concert
I saw Elvis the movie a few days ago and fell in love with Elvis all over again … so many years but it seems like yesterday … an incredible human being: a voice from heaven and a beautiful soul. We miss him so much!!!!
Same.
You don't have to explain what his voice make you feel like ..... As we all feel it to .....
Elvis was true to his roots , how many other performers would sing a gospel song in the middle of a concert .
Thank you.
Nice reaction Sarah ... so much Elvis for you to listen to
If I could go back in time, I would go see Elvis. I hope he's singing in heaven too.
Amazing that he could sing with such power, knowing that death was coming soon. RIP Elvis !
Seems fitting and a little eerie this was only a short time before his passing, his funeral was something else, fans from all over the country and the world.
The King was just that, the King.
When I listen to Elvis singing songs like this I really want to find my Way back to God I really really do
La voz de Elvis te acaricia el alma...te teletransporta a un sitio maravilloso..su gospel es único y hermoso
Sip
one and only Elvis Presley
His legendary vocal would be allowed anywhere from the Apollo to the Vatican to the largest and smallest venues in the world. Amazing one of a kind giant of humanity. Like Reverend W Herbert Brewster stated God was able to use Elvis to help bring people together.

Elvis is worth crying for
I know a lot of fans prefer his 1972 version but this 1977 version kills me everytime, INCREDIBLE!
I agree this is his best live version of this song just amazing!
Elvis put everything into his gospel music. He loved God and it showed. I saw him perform live in 76 and it was AMAZING.
You are so incredibly lucky!
@@lyneflaherty9234 Oh I know I am, I even got close enough to see his blue blue eyes! I wouldn't trade that memory for anything.

Wow... he really is a God amongst men...
Gospel music was Elvis's first love , he won more awards for gospel music than he ever did for R&R
Beautiful reaction ❤
Bless his heart! He lived only 6 weeks after this concert! Hurts my heart!

Wow , even to the end of his short life , Elvis was an entertainer on another level .
Elvis was praising God.
I love your reaction. I've been an Elvis fan since before he passed. He sang as a young boy in Tupelo Mississippi on porches with the black blues musicians. His heart and soul of music started there and gospel.
Not too many performers would have even dared do a gospel song like this in their regular line-up. RIP Elvis Aaron Presley. The Heavens are singing.
The king!!!
He is such a performer he may not been at his best but never performed at any other way and such a wonderful rendition of the song
simple the best singer ever
Sarah, I always enjoy your reactions. Keep up the great work.
Love your reactions! You are so heartfelt! Thank you Sarah. 🥰

Love your reaction this spiritual song. I just read about it's history. So many beautiful versions.
Little know thing. Elvis is the highest selling religious singer ever.
Near the end of his life here. His voice and spirit never failed him.
