The MidiVolts Desktop is a MIDI based 5 octave CV controller. The device contains 4 separate CV outputs with an associated Gate output. These CV outputs are called voices, and are named V0, V1, V2, V3. Each voice operates on the 1 volt per octave standard for eurorack and most hardware synthesizers. The device uses 6 different modes (MONO, DUO, UNISON, POLY3, POLY4, CC) to control each voice in different ways. See below for descriptions of each Mode. The device also contains a Midi to Clock output conversion and further customizations with SysEx midi messaging.
It's guys like you that find a problem and fix it that make the world better! Cheers, awesome idea and device.
Thank you so much! Take care!
Holy fuck. Holy fucking fuck. Holly fucking hell. You invoked my childhood memories. Instantly I thought of Masters of the Universe.
Wow why have I just seen this now 😮 my grandmother needs this.. sounds stunning.. keeping an eye on Etsy
Thanks! Shoot me a message on etsy and and ill put you on the message list once they are back in stock!
Just Ordered one for the GM! Very excited about this one. I actually looked for a decent midi to cv awhile ago to get some cv outputs from the sub37. Will try that too!
Awesome thanks so much! Definitely let me know if you have any questions!
This is amazing!! The best would be to have one with 8 cv outs to create a 8 voice polyphony with a matriarch…
Thanks for the comment! An interesting thought for sure!
I don't think that's possible: the Grandmother has 2 oscilators, an LFO which can be turned into an oscillator, and a filter which can be turned into an oscillator. So with 8 CV outs, you'd still be limited to 4 voice paraphony (not polyphony actually)
Cool...Thanks for the demo of the MidiVolts...Gotta get me one. ;-)
Thanks much! Let me know if you have questions!
goosebumps, I've almost cried
:) thank you so much!
This is genuinely one of the best sounding demos I have ever heard. When I get a grandmother I will also be buying one of these
Wow thank you so much! Take care!
😅ć😅😊š
what a gorgeous little dream
:) Thank you!
Waiting mine for start experiments, this will be interesting to see how I run some Arpeggios with pads together and sync with my DAW
Sounds like an amazing idea! Please let me know how this goes!
I read the desc and I still can't figure... this is actually raising grandmother's value and inmusic should buy you off and continue paying you to develop it.
man,sounds increatable
Thank you so much for commenting!
i have just purchased this from europe! fingers crossed that it arrives in good shape!

Thas great man!
Thanks so much! Working hard on it!
You just saved 2021
😂😂
amazing
Thank you so much!
I think ive fallen in love
I keep coming back to this link... this tune is beautiful. So, do you have drone mode on? Do I see that you also have the gate for VO connected to the filter?
Wow thanks man! Thats correct! I am currently on drone mode here. Everytime the first note is pressed (V0), the filter is opening with the ENV. You could also set the VCA type to Kdb Rls with V0 gate, and the VCA opens only when the first note is being pressed. Hope this helps! thanks!
Wow! Wowowow! This sounds fantastic! You also seem to have some very nice delay and reverb going on here. Please could you let us know what you used?
Midivolts Desktop, HOF Reverb, and Boss DD7 delay! Thanks! Happy you like it!
I'd like to get on the mailing list for the next batch!
You got it! Thank you for watching and the interest!
Happy Birthday Wendy Carlos... Into all of those that she inspired
Much respect to those that paved the way!! Still love switched on Bach:) thanks for the reminder!
This is awesome! When will you have more available?
We sell out fast. However, send me a message on etsy and I can notify you 24 hours before they are back in stock! Thanks!
How does this work, makes Grandmother polyphonic? seems like magic to me lol
Just ordered mine. This with Grandmother and Subharmonicon should be beefy
Would love to see that! Please post!
me too! ^
Ooooh❤
In theory, would it be handy if I was connecting it to a Subsquent 37 CV? thanks for the advice
It looks like the sub37 has only 1 pitch in CV. So if polyphonic is what you are trying to achieve. It doesn't look like this will help. However, you could hook up this synth with another monosynth and play duophonic, or three monosynth for polyphonic. Thanks!
yeah, in meantime, I was checking your other video showing the feature and function of the device and a Sub37CV would require more than one pitch CV In, unfortunately. I beleived it would somehow use my assignable CV outputs Anyway, that's a really nice product, I would definitely recommend it to my friends
Whoa. Beautiful! I have a Voyager and a Matriarch. Can I use it with them? I still a little confused as to what it does. ;-)
Thank you so much! Please check my other video on the channel. I have a full rundown! Thanks!!!
This is awesome. Did you need to turn local off to achieve this? (in addition to the midi volts setup)
Yes exactly! I have a beginners guide video on my channel that walks through all the set up. Thanks for the question!
@@spacebraincircuits1358 Really cool you did this. I've been thinking about doing the same thing, although with the Matriarch and polyphony. So local off, into a dispatcher, with the dispatcher routed to the Matriarch VCOs pitch, and triggering 4x envelopes, VCFs, and VCAs. The only additional modules necessary are a midi dispatcher like MidiVolts, +2 VCAs, +2 VCFs and +2 more Envelopes. (or just buy 2 Matriarchs + a dispatcher haha)
I gotta say though, you really got the Grandmother sounding like the Matriarch here! I'll check out your other video next.
@@quinnzender yep you got it! 👍 Really possibilities are endless. I've been thinking about a 4x desktop VCA module to help with this technique! Thanks so much! Let me know if you have questions!
Wow! That's very cool. Turns it into Matriarch Lite! :D
Thanks so much!!
Hi, it sounds great! But I still don’t understand how it works. Which mode did you use on it?
Hey sorry for the confusion. The device is on Poly3 mode which is 3 voice polyphony. V0 -> Osc1 Pitch In, V1 -> Osc2 Pitch In, V2 -> LFO Rate In. Check out my other video on my channel for more info on the device! thanks for the interest!
@@spacebraincircuits1358 Many thanks. No more need to take a Matriarch now!!!
@@lettresenvoix9933 that’s what I thought no need for the matriarch if I can get this.
@@lettresenvoix9933 There’s much more to the matriarch than paraphony. In fact, I rarely play chords on mine.
@@final_mile_music9713 Yes there are more features, including four oscillators.
I'm wondering if it would be possible to install this internally as a permanent mod, and install a paraphony on/off switch.
That would surely be cool. I guess it depends on the available space underneath the panel 🤷. You would also need to hardwire the Pitch out on the Midivolts to each pitch in. Interesting thought! Thanks!
Do you need the space brain for polyphonic?
Yep exactly!
Space Brain Circuits Will MidiVolts work equally well VIA the same signal path, with the Subsequent 37?
HI John, MidiVolts is only a CV controller. Unfortunately, the Subsequent 37 only has 1 pitch CV input ( as far as I know) so you will not be able to use the device in the polyphonic modes. However, it should be fine if you were to use this on Mono mode for instance. Hopefully this is what you were asking! Thanks!
Beginner question regrading local mode: When you turn it off, does it disable the use of other patch points? Specifically, can you still use gate out, kb out, and kb vel out?
I believe you are correct, local mode off disables these patch points.
@@spacebraincircuits1358 Thanks for the reply. That's an amazing addition to the Grandmother's arsenal, will be ordering one soon!
@@molloy840 Sounds great! thank you so much!
Wow! That's awesome! Saving up for a grandmother and midivolt NOW.. Would that work with a minibrute 2s? or a neutron? using an ext controller,, like keystep--midivolt--minibrute.
Yes definitely! Anything with v/oct! You can mix different synths and essentially create poly frankensynths!
Could this work with the moog werkstatt? I am super new to the synth world so excuse the ignorance. Killer device gonna send a message to get on the waiting long later today regardless. PS could two of these work together for 8 voice?
Yeah
this is blowing my mind! I have a Poly D and it's amazing, but this little midi box can make a Grandmother play 4 voices? I'm assuming they are all still only running through a single filter and envelope, correct?
Yes thank you. Technically, It can allow 3 voices since the GM only has 3 audio oscillators. Yes you are correct. Its technically paraphonic since everything is running through 1 filter and 1 VCA. However, the power of the unit is connecting multiple synths to create monster poly synths. You can match up anything with 1v per octave. Moog grandmother And mother32 to create 4 voice synth etc. Thanks for the kind words!
@@spacebraincircuits1358 so you have some other synths off camera that are making the GM seem polyphonic?
@@huntersandell859 Not in this video, all audio is from the Moog Grandmother here. Basically, MidiVolts tricks the GM to allow chords to be played:)
What manner of sorcery is this?
Does this achieve polyphony or paraphony?
Depends how many VCAs you have. If you are using the device as shown in the video, it is paraphonic. However, if you paired the GM with a Mother 32 and Werkstatt, you now have 3 voice polyphony! Thanks for the question! Take care!
Wow , just found this out is this still available ? I’m sure it would fit so good with my mother and grandmother 🤩
Hey! Yes but we sell out quite quickly, Ill plan to respond to this message once they are back in the shop! Thanks! Probably a week or so

Io , ascolto ancora la campana tibetana.💪🤣🤓😛
now, i miss my Matriarch a tad bit less. doing this tomorrow. :)
Hi! Can this work with a Moog Voyager XL? Thanks.
Hey! Thanks for the question. The MidiVolts works with any 1v/Oct synth. However, if you are looking to make the voyager xl poly, this is not possible due to there only being 1 pitch CV input. Sorry about that!
However, it is possible to use the voyager with the MidiVolts if you have multiple 1v/Oct synths. You can hook up multiple synths to create a hybrid polysynth if that makes sense.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the precious information!@@spacebraincircuits1358 I will buy for now the eurorack version! Cheers from Romania and keep up the good work
do you have a patching manual or any tutorial videos to go with this? It's awesome, hope i can pull cash together before they sell out again!

@@andrewgeary9749 Just happy all you guys are stoked about this product! thanks!
i got a matriarch. if i bought a second midivolts could i play 8 note chords? using grandmother and matriarch
Hey Duncan! Unfortunately no.. there's no way to tie two units together! Sorry about that! But definitely interesting. Maybe in the future I will incorporate something!
Alright I’m baffled by the way this works still. Sorta get the concept… though maybe not. So would this work on the Moog Sub 37CV with the 2 CV inputs ?
Hey! I am not too familiar with the Sub37 CV. From what I can tell, you can only assign outputs? I could be wrong. But if this is the case, the reason Midivolts can create poly/ para playing is because each oscillator on the Grandmother has a dedicated Pitch CV input. If its possible to assign a pitch CV input for each OSC on the 37 CV, then this would be possible but as of now, I do not think this is the case. Thanks for the question and hope this helps!
Is it work ms-20 possible?
The ms-20 uses V/Hz scaling so unfortunately this will not work. Thanks for the question!

What do you need to get this working?? 😍 i need this for my studio holy shit 🤩 would this work in fl studio?!
MidiVolts Desktop uses the standard midi protocol so any daw including FL studio will work! Let me know if you have any other questions!
I just ordered the last one on Etsy. I was between a Matriarch and Grandmother, and Reverb has B Stock mint Grandmothers for $749, so I figured that I my as well get one. I've been doing more research on Matriarchs lately, so I forgot that the Gmo was mono. Either way I still got a great deal, and I have other polyphonic analogs, so I wasn't stressing too much. Then I checked out UA-cam, and heard this. It was hard to not get this. I have a Hapax coming too, so I think I can kind of do the same, but I like this form factor. I don't think I've ever heard a grandmother sound so good. It will be beautiful beside my Sub 37 and OB-X8.
Yes its definitely an amazing synthesizer. I think you will be happy, especially with GM becoming more affordable used.We try really hard to stay stocked and just made another batch. So happy people are liking this unit.
Sounds Amazing Dude... and also for the love of life I wonder why is it so difficult for moog to make a damn polyphonic keyboard? Everybody can do it in the same small footprint but for moog it's as though it's sacrilegious?
Yes Moog is definitely going their own way. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years... Thanks for the comment!
Moog makes polyphonic keyboards
ua-cam.com/video/aeJJykm-QmM/v-deo.html
They make them, just way more expensive 😅
I don’t think Moog uses oscillator or filter integrated circuits. Those are small chips where the circuits are mass produced in a small package. The first polyphonic synths like the Prophet 5 used digital and analog integrated circuits which saved a ton of space. Modern Moogs only use digital integrated circuits for things like tuning, saving parameters, and MIDI. The analog elements are assembled piece by piece from basic components. It’s how the vintage synths were made. It gives a unique personality to each instrument, but takes up more space and is far more expensive to produce. I may be wrong though, I’ve only gotten to look inside a few Moog instruments very briefly.
... BOARDS OF CANADA

Unfortunately, the GM only has 3 oscillators. With that being said, nothing is stopping you from hooking up the fourth CV out to another Mono synth :)

You can use the device to extend voices by merging a grandmother and matriarch. However, just with the Midivolts, you will not be able to add more voices. Thanks!
Would love to see/understand what it could do for a Matriarch … or, say, a Matriarch plus a Mother-32 … ?! 🤔

Hey Lionel! We are waiting to recieve parts. We are hoping they will be back in stock a little later this month. I can put you on the wait-list if you would like. Also, I do not own a voyager however it all depends on how many pitch CV inputs you have. If you have multiple then you can create chords with the Midivolts.
