I've played 230 hours so far, and I still love every minute of Crypt of the Necrodancer. It's such a fun concept, simple but challenging, and mastering it is so, so rewarding. Learning the movements of every enemy, using whatever weapon you manage to find, adapting to the different characters, there is so much to do! It's a bit less of a rhythm game than you would expect (for example, you have LOTS of time to move on beat, and you'll generally find yourself more focused on where you're going and what you're doing rather than the music), but this, surprisingly, is a good thing. I can't recommend it enough. Hype!
***** Definitely a good thing (about it not being much in terms of a rhythm game, since it's more of a 'make decisions quick' thing). It's the only rhythm game I can play, and there are probably many other rhythm-impaired people out there.
well, the rhythm is pretty constant (unless you hit a speed-up/slow-down tile) so there's no need to focus on the beat. your subconscious does the trick :P
This is the only non-sandbox game I've played for six years. More, maybe. Having a game like Gmod last that long is one thing, but an actual, structured game? That's amazing, and hats off to the team for making something like that possible. EDIT: Correction - I've played TF2 for over 14 years, but even that's supported mostly by new playmodes and maps.
"Hmm... If I would've seen this trailer first instead of the one from last year, I'm not entirely sure if I would've bought this g-" "I do." I DO." "I WILL." "...never mind. Definitely would've bought this game still." I can't wait until the full release.
Joshino Even if the auto detection for the music you put in doesnt work all that well, you can also set a manual beat for the entire song, and also set out specific patterns etc, so youre covered there :)
Holgast Quite a few updates ago. Its a bit of a pain if you have a longer song as you have to beat out the beat for the ENTIRE song, but its great because if you have songs with skipped beats, or silence, you can actually put the skipped beat into the game. So much fun to play around with.
Oh god the wing 4 preview is awesome! I can't wait for the music. I've been in since day one and this game has felt like a full release and every update is just that, an update to something awesome.
Gives me same vibes as naxxramas trailer (2017), especially the ending, "The frozen heart of naxxramas awaits you" and "You will never reach the end of a Crypt of the necrodancer". That's cool i think
Played it on Early Access, but dropped out after reaching a development wall. Decided to wait until launch to pick it up again so I wouldn't get tired of it beforehand. Time to dive right back in!
I saw this as a YT commercial and it looked interesting so I kept watching not really listening to what the guy was saying until I saw "The Crypt of the NecroDancer" then I started laughing sooo hard, Its an interesting new concept for sure.
This game is a great time-waster if you are interested in killing some time when you don't have anything else to do, recommend to anyone who likes the Zelda kinda games~
Adeius Well, it may not necessarily be good for everyone, but I personally see it as being a case where it's such a unique concept that it captured my attention, and it does everything it attempts to do so well that it's held that attention. As someone who's been a long time lover of rhythm games and had a slight interest in dungeon crawlers, I saw this and decided to give it a shot. The mechanics are all simple enough to understand, but have enough difficulty to mastering them and succeeding in higher levels that it will keep you occupied for a while if it's something that keeps your interest. Between the different modes (characters that follow specific rulesets, such as monk where you get 1 item from each shop free, but die if you pick up gold, or the bard where you don't have to follow rhythm and everything follows stricly on turn-by-turn basis, and more), all the unlockable equipment and weapons and such that allow for different approaches to enemies, the bosses, and the fantastic music, it's a really solid, interesting, and unique take on dungeon crawlers.
"I believe I can defeat you"
"I believe I can defeat you"
"Hold my beer"
underrated
0:49 The shopkeeper singing at this point made the trailer legitimately beautiful.
Name of the ost please T-T

***** Woah bro. Way to write a novel bro. No one wants to read your wall of text bro.
Sir Fapsalot I'll TL:DR it for him: He was trying to be convenient.
well, the rhythm is pretty constant (unless you hit a speed-up/slow-down tile) so there's no need to focus on the beat. your subconscious does the trick :P
HOT DAMN, the NecroDancer's voice is audio chocolate!

Cadence of hyrule made me aware of this game. I hope they make a bundle option available for purchase.
It's on sale for the switch right now for only $4 if you're wanting to pick it up!
Now that it's almost out, I can finally experience the joy of slaying skeletons to the time of Pinkie Pie's Smile Song.
Jean-Michel Vaillancourt The right way to slaughter skeletons is to 'art of the dress' everyone knows that.
Worgen33
That *may* explain the many, many deaths.

All aboard the zone 4 hype train!
Can confirm this game doesn’t get enough hype!
This looks like a blast, wonder how it would handle speedcore :O
Joshino I've tried it with symphonic black metal and had to have pretty much constant movement, I imagine it would be similar.
Joshino Even if the auto detection for the music you put in doesnt work all that well, you can also set a manual beat for the entire song, and also set out specific patterns etc, so youre covered there :)

Whoa, when did they add that?

Wonder how it would handle the dillinger escape plan
`CAN YOU FEEL THE HYYPE
I just keep replaying it. This was a very well done trailer.
Oh god the wing 4 preview is awesome! I can't wait for the music. I've been in since day one and this game has felt like a full release and every update is just that, an update to something awesome.

DeadlyNightshade128 No, what I meant is I don't understand how they got this game to be so good. As in, I fucking LOVE this game.
:3 Such Excite
Shit trailer, the game can speak for itself without the overblown text.
