@@letitiamuresan1635omg, it was in 1956... It wasn’t ’easy’ to win, the sportpersons didn’t have the conditions to train like nowadays… They only had their talent and a trainer back then. Nowadays an athlete has sports doctor, nutritionist, chef, strengths coach, technical coach, conditioning coach, full time salary and they can train six hours a day. You cannot compare.
@@Kingacs7 At least back then it was more fun. No serious injuries, and it did not consume your life. A trainer and your talent and that's it sounds awesome!
At that time, balance beam was all about showing the skill of keeping balance in different positions. Later it became more of a floor exercise on beam. I do not think the requirements were "little" when I see how long it takes a child to master a handstand or a proper cartwheel.
Unfortunately, these excerpts is what is left from those historic exercises, which is what makes them so precious. I'm posting them in chronological order, so when I get to the 1960s, I have complete routines that I will be posting.
Thanks very much C. Marie. By the way, Agnes is still alive, she celebrated her 100th birthday in January this year. She really has had an amazing life.
This is what the beam was designed for, not triple somersaults. 😂🤤 Women's gymnastics has become crazy dangerous, and not very fun due to the high probability of getting seriously injured, and having to do nearly impossible stunts in order to be competitive. The beam routines were about BALANCE, grace and beauty, something sorely missing in today's women's gymnastics.
That was in 1956! What do you expect? They started gymnastics, and this was already well advanced compared to 1936, for example. And in my humble opinion, Tang did better ☺😇
Happy 103 birthday Ági néni!
She died today (1/2/2025). She was 35 years old when she did this, too.
RIP Agnes Keleti 😢🖤
Beautiful. And amazing that she is still living at 100 years old - the oldest living Olympic champion!
Today she celebrates the 101. :) ♥
She’s just past at 103. May she rest in peace.
These exquisite routines from the 1956 Olympics deserve more views and likes. So pretty their style : )
Thanks very much, Rosemary. Without these routines, we wouldn't have evolved to the routines we know and love today.
@@Gymnastly more than 100 years. MEGA OLD FROM SENIORS !
So elegant! She had such control! And I do Believe I saw a 1/4 wolf turn!
Yes, I would also called that a 1/4 wolf turn, and she even made it look beautiful.
@@Gymnastly yes! Her grace, strength, and control are just incredible!
How far this sport has come since then.
Actually in less than 20 years it changed a lot. In 1976 it was completely different.
Indeed. How little was required then for gold and how much not too many years later. Hard to believe it. Greatfull for the video

Fascinating.
Yes, it is.
Viva Agnes!
I would love to see some complete routines, including mounts, if such exist. 🇬🇧

Happy birthday.
Happy 102
Rest in peace 🕊️
Just learned that Agnes Keleti passed away. She is a hero to me and she was the best in her era.
Wow she’s literally incredible and those skills wouldn’t exist now . She got some great poise and elegance with this beam routine
This woman is a living legend.
R.I.P Agnes, amazing lady ❤😢
@@peterconteh1223 She sadly passed away today. To think we are only 2 days into 2025 too.
Less is more sometimes. Very nice.

It’s like ballet while balancing. RIP 💐

Very easy and simple compared to queen Guan Chenchen

Im bored
I was bored watching this.
