It would be great to see you go into what kind of map aids you like using. I like these video style too btw great job.

Franky D. Crafter Not a bad idea. I’ve used all kinds of stuff. Mostly for this kit it’s just a barebones thing. The most used map aid that I bring is D&D dungeon tiles. Combined with the battle mat they’re an invaluable resource.

As a player who is yet to play, this video was great. I loved the hack for the dice tray! Would never have thought about that. Thanks a lot

Unlike other people I actually enjoyed the background music. But I can understand others perspective. You do you.

Well the thing is that he should have used an EQ to remove the frequency that covers his voice from the audio track.
But he’s a cool guy with a lot of knowledge. It’s all about learning🙏

I legit want to become a dm simply because they get so many more toys than players! haha

14:45 "It makes you a better player if you actually learn and care about the rules." Great truth. The only thing that separates a game from an imagination free-for-all is that all the players (DM included) know and care about the rules. Otherwise, there's no game there, just play. No thought, no strategy, no tactics, no depth. No game.
    Game on!

I use a Tablet for my books. I know, I shouldn't do that. But I have only one bag and if I need to bring all my information, well, some games, Deadlands, World of Darkness, Dungeons and Dragons all alike have a lot of relevant books. Plus, if the players want to start up new characters in a game they don't have, it's good to have the books related to their characters.

hey my man I've been digging through UA-cam for some sage dm advice. I'm an anxious prepper and ive always got this type of stuff on in the bg while I'm prepping my games. this is definitely the best put together videos I've seen on here. you pack in a lot of good info over a wide range of stuff in here. im going to check out that folding grid and that custom playersheet. I'm going to drop some of my own ideas in here to enrich your experience. i have one of those aluminum dice tins you can get on most dice shops that i use for my dm dice, its super low profile and the lid makes an awesome little dicetray. it also let's me just give the players a sack of dice instead of making sure everyone has a set. i also like to give my players one of those cheap kids math books with the lined grid paper so they i can draw them maps and keep their sheets paperclipped inside. makes the players have an easier time keeping track of stuff and let's the dm have each campaign neatly seperated. all of this is pretty useless during covid for sure. dope video, nice Hellraiser cube, have a good one :)

Someone needs to make an affordable spiral-bound book with all the player races, classes, feats, and equipment all in one book that lays flat - that would be *chef's kiss*

The first level of 5E is brutal - GIVE ME A BREAK. 5E is the safe space of role playing

It's not safe enough apparently. Monsters don't even ask for consent before attacking when you invade their homes and try to take their stuff. How dare they!

This was really useful but I have one suggestion Matt. Can you make the video a little shorter. Like 11 minutes.

PC Peasants Gaming certainly a useful suggestion. It was a tad rant-y. :P

M.B. Sorry it’s a shyness thing. I don’t really like the sound of my voice, despite what some of my friends might think. 😝
I’ll consider it. I was wondering if it might be too much. Thanks for the feedback.

M.B. Yea, I’m very much an introvert. D&D is my main source of social interaction and without it I would be mostly just a shut-in. It’s helped my social skills immensely but I still suffer from acute self consciousness from time to time. 😝

Feedback suggestion: The music is competing with your voice too much. It feels like it’s just playing in the room you’re in.
Having music in general isn’t an issue, but A) your vocal audio is very echoey, so music just makes it harder to hear properly, and B) background music should never have lyrics.

  • @Kittykattarina

I know I'm late to the game and beating a dead horse but the music is a bad choice. Also I got 4mins in and still no kit so I skipped to 9mins and you were explaining that people can keep PDFs on thier phones >< I had to bugout from this video! I would suggest editing the video to cut out most of the ramblings as well as the music.

    • @TheDungeonMattster

Drezelle yea that was back when I was still learning to put the audio in the background more. My other videos are more watchable 😋

@@TheDungeonMattster hear me out. I don't know any of your other content, just this video that I couldn't get through. I think you sould fix this one or just take it down. I think having up will does more harm than good. I can see from your other responses that you agree and im glad that you are staying positive but I would like to see your dm kit!

Can’t focus on anything you are saying with that background music playing.

It’s not for everyone, that much is true. I try to break up the quiet moments with some jangled jangley. I appreciate the feedback. It’s something I’ve been trying to improve upon for sure. 🤪

Yes your voice sounds cool. Just not hearing it through your cheekbones. We all are surprise by the way everyone but us hear our selves. Actually a low background sound for ambiance based on content is not the worst idea like errie music. Subtle not like trying to carry-on a conversation in a night club. But other than audio I would give you 9 outta 10.

  • @imamystery2421
    @imamystery2421 2 роки тому

I had to turn the audio almost all the way down to focus on what you are saying. But your filming style and pip is great please remove or remix your audio to loose that music. It is like nails on a chalkboard. Makes you're video almost not viewable. Sorry some ADD on my part might work as theme music in an my Lil pony adventure but not stereotypical I would say for the genre. And you seem like you have alot to offer. Info wise. I don't think the backround sound level is going to be a accurate technique to UA-cam logarithms of my subscribers. I did not give you a thumbs down as I don't think that is fair for what may be an learning opportunity. Yeah my volume is so low I can hardly hear you in order to quiet the annoying drone of Kandy pop dance even bards are considering suicide or casting a quiet spell. Tell me where is the mind flayer hiding? 😆
