Great review. I'd love one of these.
I've had three Mondeos in my lengthening life, a 1998 Mk 2, a 2003 Mk 3 and a 2009 Mk4. They have all been fantastic. I still have the last one, a 2.0 Titanium, and it is simply the best car I've ever had. I've driven Audis, Beemers, Rovers and Vauxhauls - all sorts - and even a 1989 Pontiac Firebird! They all had strengths, especially the Audi, which was quick and solid, as you'd expect from them. The BMW was a 1994 5-series - and, quite frankly, it was hopeless. I love big cars but this thing was just a thirsty, vague whale. I've driven other Beemers over the years and ultimately been underwhelmed by the ultimate driving machine every time. Why do people love BMWs so much! I liked my 1989 Vauxhaul Cavalier but it had the problem all Vauxhauls have (and still do, as far as I can tell): the engine. When the head gasket went twice in three months I'd had enough. Had a Rover 820 SLi after that. Nice car, but the electrics were a serious joke.
Then came the Mondeos. The one I have now is the most complete, reliable, comfortable, practical, well-built machine I've ever owned. I still love it.

You can tell by the high mileages they've done when they come up for sale that real drivers love em, only get problems with dirt in injectors too easily if you keep letting tank run low, now I use Shell Nitro it seems to cut out expensive injector replacements.

Owed a Mk3 Ghia X 02 reg 2lt diesel hatchback - had it for 15 years with the wife and kids, cheap to run and a smashing car - never lets me down. Now had to give up and owning a Titanuim X, and boy it is a competent machine and a joy to own. Why something this good can cost so little?

It's a pity the lower spec models don't look this good.

I had an mk3 2002 Ford Mondeo, I loved this car during 10 years and 120000km! So reliable, economical, confortable, practical, and a nice look!
Now I've got the MK4 2010 titanium, still in 2L diesel (163hp now, instead of the 115hp before), and for nothing I would buy a 2015 model! The MK4, especially in titanium finition, is a wonderful family car! Sry for my English, I'm a froggy.

I've got a 2008 mk4 petrol in zetec trim. I've had a mk1,2 and 3 and for me my current car is a better drive. So comfortable and it's actually more economical than the mk3 petrol I had before despite being 70kg heavier. The suspension is beefier and handles bumps with ease. The next generation I'm afraid is not built as tough with many suffering driveshaft problems and cooling issues. I do like them though but I'll keep hold of mine for now.

The Ford Mondeo is a lovely car to drive, because I used to own one of these, 52 reg 2 litre ghia auto, beautiful car to drive, until someone wrote it off whilst parked, I like the new model of the Mondeo, which is the Titanium model, the diesel is not too bad, I won't mind getting one of these, the engines that I really missed now going back in the old days is the 2.5 to the 3 litre V6 engines, I wish Ford's should bring these engines back, Thanks for sharing this video, All the best.

I had the Cologne V6 in a 2.8 Granada GL - one of my all time favourite cars and I've had many including Beemers & Audi's. Agree great engine but hellishly thirsty

just got one a few weeks ago, and man I already in love with this car. Been driving a Mazda 5 Minivan before wich was also beautiful to carry my MTB in the bag since it was a 7 seater, but the Mondeo in the estate Version offers almost the same amount of space in the rear even tough the car is much lower and only a touch longer. Even tough I'm mostly behind the wheel in this car, I have to admit that I've never been a acar before where the rear passengers get such an awesome amount of leg space, it's just like sitting in the front.
The only thing that bothered me in the beginning was the low sitting position in the car, since I was only used too driving the Minivan and my dad's SUV, but I quikly adapted to it and already feel somehow misplaced in my dad's car as if I would drive a truck almost ^^
Unlikely my Mondeo came without a trailer hitch, wich I'll try to upgrade as soon as posible, but at the moment the huge space in the back is more than enough. Only thing I realy miss about the old Mazda was the sligthly better torque that the mondeo misses when trying to figuere out whter to keep it in second where you almost stall the car or switch to first gear where you just gonna have trouble to match the revs for a smooth gear change without doing a emergency brake with the gearbox xD it's just rougly 5 Newtonmeter difference but in combination with that gearbox it just drives me nuts, I either stop harde so that I use first gear or need to stop much earlier to still get the second gear without totureing my car.
But overal it just drives super smooth on the road and takes the turns very well. It's a great family car with a slightly sporty touch to it, or in my case a great car to throw your bike in the back and drive off to the trails and take a nap in the boot xD

    • @s_tyrer6005

peter g. I've driven loads of these Mk4s. The manuals are a pleasure to drive, the Powershift automatics aren't, they can start to slip very early on.

    • @alanjm1234

Powershifts need to be maintained religiously by the book, or they can give serious trouble.

Your not joking, these cars are absolutely brilliant even with 200,000 on the clock, I've had three in last 10yrs . The gearboxes are bomb proof clashed the manual gearboxes many times but still ok. Just don't run low on fuel often dirt seems to get to injectors too easily, 4=£780 unfitted
