Nice honest review, I like it...
    I have a 2013 2.0L TDCi140 Titanium X Business class (Manual) 63MPG rated
It is by far the best car I have ever owned.
101K and I just this morning had the cambelt replaced (Not before time according to the engineer)
I moved accomodation a couple of years ago and found I could open the hatchback, fold the seats down and shove a single mattress in and close the hatchback again...Awesome
My Titanium X has all the toys a 2013 model should have.... Satnav, (Out of date now and won't pay £300 for updating the SD card in the dash when Google maps is free and upto date) Cruise, Speed limiter, electric all round as in the video, DAB, Front and rear parking sensors and more...
I will spend money on this to keep it on the road as I like everything about it.
10 years old now so cambelt was obvious, rear camera is slightly intermittent and the high level LED brake light needs looking at.... hey one thing at a time but worth it....
    I can't praise it enough...
The video suggests the front screen button gets you out of trouble in icy morning days.... When you press this, the blower goes to max, the front and rear screen start to demist but you still have to scrape the side windows unless you have so much time to wait for the heaters to clear them too...but if you scrape the sides, you can be away in 2 mins......even if the front is completely iced up.....

Great review. Love my MK4 2013 Estate. Currently on 120k and apart from the general stuff like brakes , tyres, discs, service, timing belt at 100k , battery change after 7 years there's been absolutely nothing wrong with it. Fully intend on getting it to 200k at which point I'll probably get a 2021 MK5 which in my view is an absolutely beautiful car.

These are such underrated cars. We've got a 2012 Titanium which we bought eight years ago. Currently at 185k miles. Bulletproof reliability and even though its 'only' the 140bhp, the engine is strong and has plenty of usable power. Chassis, seats and the amount of space inside os spot on.
A well looked after one of these is one of the best used car bargains you can find now. Saw a 60k 2011 fully loaded TXS go for £8k in work a few weeks back. FSH and flawless MOT history. Awesome buy.
    Great video 🙌

I have a Mondeo MK4 Titanium from 2009, Automatic (no Powershift) 2.0 Diesel, sadly not the Sport Version. But this car is the best i´ve ever driven. Bought with 21.000mi, now @ 130.000mi. Not a single issue since then. Only brakes needs some replacement and the tires. nothing spectacular. Still holding strong until today. Best car to buy in my opinion

@@PerformanceLifestyles honestly it's the best all rounder i've ever had ! It's fast, comfortable, quiet, loads of space the list goes on it just does everything so for me i think its a hard ask to find this much car for the money and yeah it's rapid especially with the dct it's like gravity. With some patience and luck i managed to find one that had every extra full spec with the better converse display etc the only thing it didn't have was the rear privacy glass but i orefer it without anyway, it's on a 2010 plate right on the cusp of the facelift version so it got all of the best and latest stuff while still on the 2010 plate so it's on 18 rims (better) and the older front grill (facelift looks better) the dct wet clutch in the momdeo is the better box and will take a lot of power before you need to worry about it just make sure service it (by specialist if possible) every 30k symptoms of it being in need will feel like clutch slip and slighty irregular gear change but don't let anyone tell you it's fked IT ISN'T it just needs an oil change and anynody not so clued up needs to understand its a dual clutch which works on friction/clitch slip just like a standard manual but computer controlled so don't leave it hanging on a hill using the throttle and don't worry if yiur first drive feels jerky pulling off your foot will get used to the throttle and it'll be smooth once your used to it.

I have an ex Ford dealer principles 2014 2.2 diesel with every option ticked, it's now knocking on the door of 100k and it's still as fresh as the day it came of the line with everything still working like a Swiss clock. The only issues I've had which few diesel owner's escape is the dreaded dpf choking up, after a visit to a reputable tuner there is nothing left inside it to choke up and now it pulls very hard indeed along with a welcome increase in mpg. I absolutely love this car and can't see me selling it for many years to come. I highly recommend these cars but if the budget allows go for the post 2010 facelift like this one here as they seem much better screwed together with most of the earlier teething problems ironed out. Just regular servicing of the wear and tear items will provide very reliable motoring which is a rarity especially when it comes to modern diesels. However if economy is a priority I'd go for the 2.0 version as the 2.2 can be a little thirsty especially if the mountain of torque is regularly used! Great video mate 👍

A lot of people overlook the Mondeo Titanium X Sport but they are a very good car. Like you say, maintenance is key and these cars are extremely reliable.
The 2.2 is a torquey car as standard so can imagine what yours must feel like, with the advantage of it being a 1 owner.
Sounds like you've got yourself a gem.

I bought a 2013 Titanium X sport 163bhp around 6 years ago and it has been an absolute gem of a car. They are powered by the PSC engine which is super sweet, but could benefit from a DPF removal as it lacks the throttle response that the last Mk3 130 had.
Servicing is done by me and costs around £90 for oil and a set of genuine Ford filters, make sure you change the oil and air filters every 10k and they will tick on happily. I also change the fuel filter every 30k as an insurance policy and the cabin air filter around 50k to prevent the fan and resistor pack from burning out.

Great cars, man! Having owned an mk3 2.0i ghia and now an mk4 2.0tdci titanium x I can vouch for their brilliant drive and reliability. My current mk4 is an estate 2012 on 17s with 215/50/17 tyres. I agree with you that the sports look meaner and more edgy. But mine is a proper workhorse with a full roofbox of hand tools and in regular in car loads of around 200kg. So I'd probably kill a sport quite quickly with it being lowered on huge rims 😆

Yes, they definitely don't like being neglected. But they don't necessarily cost a fortune to fix. The real problem with them is that small problems cause severe symptoms, which makes it look like the transmission is knackered.
I recently bought a 2 litre diesel with Powershift cheap because the transmission was "shot". It really drove badly, shuddering, lurching, clutch slipping and grabbing, missing gears, really seemed like it was gone.
But all it needed was a change of fluid (it was filthy, obviously hadn't been done for years) and a clutch relearn and shift fork relearn. Easy DIY using Forscan and a OBD2 adapter.
The fluid isn't cheap, but basically a couple of hundred bucks and a few hours work and it drives great.
The dry clutch Powershift used in the Focus and Fiesta have an even worse reputation, and often the only thing wrong with them is poor earth connections between the chassis and the transmission. They have paint on the earth points!
Often a car that was undriveable and had to be towed can be fixed in 10 minutes for zero dollars.
The REAL problem with these is that Ford dealers and transmission shops see them as a goose that lays golden eggs. Quote thousands, probably fix them for peanuts.

I've had my 2.0tdi titanium x business spec for 8 years and now nearing 160000 miles I bought it at 30000. Always service it on time never uses oil between services. Up until recently only wear items replaced like tyres linkages bushes etc. And more recently the dreaded rear suspension bushes and bearings. Can't talk about reliability as nothings serious has gone wrong. So the car has been excellent and I feel it's a better car than BMW and Audi equivalents as I know owners who have or had them have been more expensive to maintain and less reliable. So what has gone wrong. Aircon stopped working. Cost me £250 to fix with a new condenser and regas. A friend's BMW 330e cost him £2000. One of the rear door won't lock with the remote I have to check it everytime. The fuse for the power points keeps failing. I'll get both these done next service. Although the rear bushes and bearings have been done the tyres still wear more on the inside Although I know many cars are like this. And one ally wheel needs air weekly the other three never drop pressure. It's been a brilliant car, my second mondeo although a electrical problem wrote off the first. In between I had a passat which I sold after 9 months because it wasn't a mondeo in any way. Worse in everyway except maybe build quality. I feel superior driving a car that most people think of as just a Ford and buy something much more expensive and less roomy or practical just because it has a "badge " I still drive newer cars to see if I'm missing something and should trade up .... or in for something else. But no the Mondeo is perfect for now.

Hit the nail on the head there. You can buy the German rivals but they won't be as well specced for the money, nor will they be as cheap to maintain and they will break down!

Being an Alfa the paint quality is terrible, always covered in stone chips and they rust like no tomorrow. Most of the. Have had the front subframe replaced by now but they rot badly around the sills.
The m32 gearbox fitted to all engines other than the 3.2 and 2.4s shits itself for no reason.
They eat tires for fun if using factory alignment.

I personally prefer the manual. I know the powershift boxes potentially need replacing around 100k miles and cost around £1k. I know someone who had a S Max 2.0 and had it done.
The powershift is good for just pottering about and if cba with the clutch but personally I'd recommend a manual 👍

The Powershift needs to be serviced every 40,000 miles if it isn't done all the crap in the oil destroys the gearbox. Owners rarely ever get it done though.

@@PerformanceLifestyles when I bought my 2009 Titanium X Sport 2.5T I went for the pre face-lift as it offered a manual box on the petrol model. The face-lift model only had Powershift on the top petrol model (a 2.0 litre, but even more powerful). I like the 5 pot sound of the 2.5T and considering it cost me £5k 5 years ago, it's £1k a year. Not bad. Still going. I'll keep it until it dies I think. Can't find anything else I'd rather have that's as good value, as practical and has a manual gearbox.

I've got the 2.0 titanium manual, it has so much lower end torque that you can be lazy with the clutch and just go almost everywhere in 3rd

AVOID THE AUTOMATIC POWERSHIFT GEARBOX AT ALL COSTS. THEY HAVE A TERRIBLE TRACK RECORD FOR FAILURES.

They do fail on many. Costs roughly £1k to get a replacement fitted. Manual is the best option on them!

@PerformanceLifestyles They are such a poor design they have plastic gide pins that break off and wreak the gearbox. A guy from planet gears who rebuilds them said to me they are such a poor design that every powershift gearbox will fail it's a matter of when.

    • @PerformanceLifestyles
      @PerformanceLifestyles  7 місяців тому

@interceptor-ss8kb that's why they are rubbish then, didn't know that. I knew they failed but not why. It's surprising that Ford kept using this poor design even though they've been failing for a long time
