Suzuki GSX-8S a bang-for-buck streetfighter! | Road and track review | INFO MOTO

  • Suzuki’s all-new streetfighter brings modern tech at a competitive $14,190. Snag belted the living suitcase out of one through the Sunshine Coast and on the iconic Lakeside Raceway layout to answer one question. Is it up to the job?
I’ve loved the street fighter category since it aggressively burst on to the bike scene in the mid-nineties. Tough, encouraging individuality, just bloody different. Who doesn’t like that in this cookie-cutter, don’t-say-that world? So, indeed, I welcomed the GSX-8S as a concept.
Yes, the bike offers a degree of brave styling and a minimal, yet modern, approach at a reasonable price. It was with these scenes playing across this muddled mind as I boarded the big white bird to leave Melbourne’s hateable winter to land in the T-shirted, low-stress atmosphere of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. All to bung Suzi’s newest through its paces at the Aussie launch. Wonderful.
    What we like:
    • Bold styling
    • Smart tech
    • Value for money
    Room for improvement:
    • Rear shock pushed in hard going
    • Cruise control please

And they were honest about the suspension. I rode one as a potential buyer and it was very crashy and all round not what I was after.

I pick mine up next week. I knew 5 mins into the testride it was the one. I knew 7 mins into this video I made the right decision. Thanks man! Oh you forgot to mention the 43mm upside down forks....great specs and a worthy successor the legendary sv650.

Great riding & review Snaggy! Riding these bikes keeps you young forever legend ⭐️ Loving mine! Does it need a pipe, maybe. But, I’ve done those to death & now I’m deaf😉 The most surprising thing is it belies it’s 202kg weight. It’s extremely planted, flickable, comfortable, plenty quick enough & narrow at the tank. I haven’t pushed it hard yet to be concerned about the rear shock. I’ll take up your advice about the tail tidy though 😎😉 Thanks guys for getting this out🙌🤙

Thanks Steve. I was struck by two things. The level of tech for the quids and the bike's agile nature. So, agree with you 100 per cent.

I like the style. Would like a little cowling on bottom.
What I would like improved. Rear shock, Front could use more dampening. And well we can always use more power. Really just a little more on top would be nice.

Loving my blue GSX-8S. It's a really fun to ride street bike. I'm looking forward to more accessories like a fender elim kit. Yoshimura has one you can pre-order so hopefully that will come out soon.

Hang on ! These are the Two Wheels crew from the paper days?????????? Bloody beauty! Subscribed from SA. Well produced video of a bike I recently test rode and liked it so much I bought an almost new 2020 Yamaha XSR900 instead! Go figure. The GSX-8S for "my take" on it was very poor in the suspenders caper and absolutely gutless for an 800cc engine. My 2020 Yammy XSR900's suspenders are actually bloody half decent stock and the engine is absolutely bonkers off idle through to mid range and still has enough to hit 250KMH full wack. I found mine for AU$12,000.00 rideaway and it's literally as new. Cheers.

My 8S sits on 140km in fifth at 6.5k revs, with 2k more to peak power. How much power do you need? I had the xsr700 which had shit suspension, shit braking, shit ergo and shit gearbox. The Suzuki build quality shits all over Yammies at that price point.

IDK, those roads look pretty fricken good!!! Can't be too cold either given what you are wering outdoors. Must be nice. You either freeze to death or roast to death in Tx. And nothing like the roads you riding on! Only in SoCal can you find views and roads like that. applachians too, so don't all you Yankees start yelling at me but you still can't beat SoCal weather. Nice riding on the track there dude! Great review too

Trying to figure out why the s8 and hornet 750 both cost $16k in New Zealand? Anyone know why we pay such a premium? And why they are the same cost when we hear so much about the 1000 pound price difference in the UK?

I'm sorry, but how the hell is a bang for your buck streetfighter more expensive and heavier compared to the MT07? That genuinely makes no sense.

    • @Legend57.
      @Legend57. 5 місяців тому

      From what I've gathered,
      - Suspension alone is worth getting this bike over the MT07! This alone makes the 8S a better bet as a long term bike coz most people don't buy new bikes every year.
      - Quick shifter is standard so whatever you save when buying the MT07 will be spent on this
      - Slipper clutch with low RPM assist for smoother take offs
      - Bigger engine with more power and more torque which im sure is de-tuned for euro 5 emissions. Im sure the power is much closer to hondas 90hp.
      - Electronic aids i.e traction control with different settings, auto-rev match, different rider modes...
Personally Im not in the market for a new bike since I already own a much faster bike with zero rider aids or modes, but if I was, I wouldn't even bother looking at the MT07. Utlimately it would come down to the Trident 660 and the 8S.

@@INFO_MOTO I know these are 100% Made in Japan and the quality I saw was excellent, however even I couldn't bring myself to buy a twin that has been "crossplaned" and think it was something special. It's a GREAT marketing idea no doubt but at 776cc for me that is becoming a large capacity road bike and with it's 82bhp is obviously NOT a learner's machine. I would have liked Suzuki to have at least thrown in two extra cylinders and THEN crossplaned it! LOL. The GSX-S1000 is quite nice to ride but with almost twice the ponies of this GSXS-8S it could prove too much for the faint hearted. Neevesy nailed it in his ride day on one and he wasn't keen at all as he was also not fond of the Honda twin 750 Hornet crossplane.
