Mate, great to see you get recognition from the manufacturers to get on these launches! Well done on building your channel!
Much appreciated! 😁👍
Solid bike with quality tech, I'd rather have mid range grunt over top end on a naked bike - Suzuki hit their target.
The Hornet is still a p-twin, I don't think anyone is talking an I4 dynamic - nothing, nothing, f*ck - my guess is both have a pretty flat torque curve, but the horrnet has a spark around 6k. That said - I love my Suzuki, they make great road bikes.
Get Moore Mafia to flash it and get the top end back
I have a soft spot for Suzukis and this bike shows why I love them so much. Good value but still feel quality, not too cutting edge but somehow make up for it with a touch of magic all around, or is that just me? They’re just a bit different than the rest and I love that ❤️ Cheers Lamb Chop 👍
Couldn't agree more!
japanese bikes have personality is the best way for me to put it!
What a venue for a bike launch! Good to see Suzuki introducing new machinery and marching to their own tune.
Couldn't agree more! Paul 👍
For such a popular class, the looks of most are a bit dodgy, however the more I see of the GSX-8S, the better it looks. The best looking in it’s class IMHO. It has a substantial, broad shouldered, look to it that it’s competitors lack.
Thoroughly enjoyed that Chopsie, really loving watching you and the others on these launches - great vid as ever and really glad you never mentioned the Hornet. I'm sure the GSX8S is brill to ride (looking forward to having a go in the UK ASAP)....trouble is, doesn't matter how good a bike is, if it looks fugly, it aint going to sell.....as you say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course, we shall see if Suzuki have got this one right!
Thanks Andy, think you're going to like this one 😁👍
Haha that’s all I say is “WOW” when I see amazing scenery
thanks for all your reviews Chopsy
I can tell you love your work Chopsy, it dont matter what bike you ride your always enthusiastic
Great video, I bought one, black. Love it. And now ther is the 8R. Looks even better!
Mr chops you’ve been knocking it out off the park with these reviews, keep them coming
Thanks buddy 👍
You certainly had some fun on this one chopsy, as you say there are pros and cons with this and the Hornet, it will be very interesting to see what Greg and yourself think when you do a comparison, great videos as always mate.
Thanks Ray 👍
Fantastic assessment backed by beautiful roads. The sound of the engine has a nice pulse to it(through your mic anyhow.)Always good to watch, thanks.
Thanks Bruce! 👍
Good review with the excellent camera work we can expect from your channel. The Route Napoleon is one of my favourite roads especially the section from Castelanne all the way to the descent into Grasse, 64 km of fun and amazing views. First time I rode it there were large sections of gravel north of Castellane many years ago which was exciting.
Thanks Steve 👍
Nice one LCR! Always entertaining and informative! Keep up the good work!
Great video Chops. Been looking forward to this. Top riding on those mega roads. Can't wait to see you and Greg review the Hornet v GSX8S.
Thanks 👍 😁
Very nice Chops, it seems like your passport is getting a decent workout lately! Keep up the good work, we enjoy your "real world" riding and reviews from exotic places.
Thanks buddy 👍
Great review chops so many good bike in that middle weight area 👍 stunning roads and views keep up the great vids 👍
Fabulous roads, wonderful views, and a great review. Many thanks for the post Chopsy.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great review, Chopsie. I’m 6’1"and the Hornet is just too small so looking forward to seeing he Suzuki in the flesh.
The Route Napoleon is stunning . I’ve been going for many years on all kinds of bikes and never tire of it.
Super Chopsey!!! Loved this first look, stunning ride out that!!!
Well done on not comparing it to the Hornet 👍😁 I will look forward to the comparison video you have coming up for all the new information 😊
Great review again LC thanks, I'm in the market for this class of Bike in a month or so and this I think, is one I have to consider.
What amazing scenery! Great video!
Another great vid Chopsy, the little pics you put up about the engine were helpful too. On a funny note - had to laugh, lost count how many times you mentioned the Hornet even though this wasnt a comparison video . Always look out for your video's!
Glad they were useful 👍 yeah should rename the video to the GSX / Hornet comparison 😀
Really good points raised - stability is good, torque is good and comfort for 6 foot or so people. Great, fun review Chopsy 👍👍😎 Perhaps a route for you and Gregorio to do a trip on ? Wonderful road !
Heck I just watched your 2005 zx10r vid from 6 years ago...you're production quality has flown up!!!😮🎉
Thanks 👍😁😁
Great video, the looks are growing on me.
The comparison will be interesting 🤔
Those roads 👀👌🏻
Not ridden for years although still got my 99Busa I find this bike very tempting lovely looking well done Suzuki looks like a winner .
I agree that the Suzuki is the best choice here because of what you said, ''better chassis''. It's the reason I chose to buy my GS1000C over the competitors bikes in 1978. I owned that bike 29 years and am sorry I don't still have it.
Brilliant vid as always
Nice one Chopsy , the old passport getting well used recently mate.😁 good to see you getting a shout to go on these new bike release jobs . Well deserved I may add , nice scenery there as well and roads .The Suzuki looks a decent middle weight bike . Nice looking bike as well . Good job mate .👍
Thanks buddy 👍
Fantastic review Chopsy, great filming and amazing location. With all these middle weight nakeds coming on the market, makes you wonder, why go bigger, especially on uk roads
Keep up the good work 👍
Yes I do agree! My favourite bike is my 690 SMCR
Good choice of machine, fun, lightweight and plenty enough to bring a smile to your face every ride👍👍
Total respect on how you rode up there in the mountains. Myself I rode like a chicken up there looking at how high we were. There were wet roads and fallen rocks in my visit so took it easy.
Thanks Stephen 👍
Excellent, been hoping it would be good . My next bike 🤗
next level Chopsy well done sir.
Fantastic review, looks an amazing bike, I would definitely prefer its looks over the Hornet.
A year ago, I was shopping for a bike in that $6,000 to $9,000 range. If I had saw one of these in the matte black, I definitely would’ve bought it. I’m 6’2” and it just looks perfect for someone my size.
If you look at the dyno chart, the power delivery is exactly like a single-cylinder thumper.
Good first look video Lamb Chop and thats a very nice bike.
Thanks 👍😁
Great riding footage with some awesome scenery. Good news that Suzuki have come up with a nice balance for this bike . I’m sure it will make a lot of friends. I personally don’t like the blue colour. Looking forward to the comparison with the Hornet. Great video Chops .
Fantastc vid mate! That initial pace was spicy! :D
Was a bit fruity Dan wasn't it! Great trip though
I’m riding the blue one made me laugh out loud. Love that all my favourite vloggers get to these launches. Only Cloth Ears Kate missing. Great review Chopsy..
Legend! 😁👍
Those tight curves with shin high walls “guarding” deadly drop offs were as scary as they were beautiful. Was praying we weren’t going to see our poor Chopsy take up base jumping on one of them😂 Anyway can’t wait to see you do the back-to-back Hornet vs GSX-8S review.
Yeah very sketchy!! Beautiful though
Base jumping without a parachute is not a very popular sport
@@ninja12lawbreaker 👏😂
Brilliant video Chops, cracking roads and the Zook definitely looks the goods. Did they issue you with a Suzuki parachute for that mountain ride? Bloody hell, the pucker factor was off the scale up top there!!
Haha needed it!
Great review chopsy… as a current Dl 650 rider can you do the new ‘Vstrom’ next please. 😉 also liked the way you ‘enjoyed’ the road at your own pace too 😂
It looks like a winner to me chops!
Appreciate the review I’ve always been of the mindset that V twins r better than their parallel siblings think u just changed my mind nice job mate
Hi chops nice review. I am looking at a nice parallel twin tomorrow, a cheap tdm 900 in great nick.
Great stuff as usual Chops, always a pleasure spending half an hour with you. Be interested in seeing how it stacks up against KTMs similarly priced Duke 790.
Thanks Steve 👍
Nice one! Proper review 👍
Another intelligent and enjoyable review 007. The reason I have remained a subscriber since your time at PB is because of your totally expressive style. On the GSX8S you spent most of the time explaining how it’s designed for a big bloke, grown up and fun to ride. On your Hornet review you spent most of your time whoopin it up, hootin and hollerin. Is it safe to say you had more fun on the Hornet? 😋
Thanks Bruce, actually we had the whole PB crew there. Johnny Mac and Chris Newbiggs, those were the rapid pair infront of me!
I’m surprised you remembered your pants this time 😉
Excellent review Chops, very thorough & the production etc was fantastic. Those roads also looked amazing & what a great place to launch the bike. I think you're also the first British UA-camr to publish your vid too so kudos on that. As for the bike, I really like it & without riding it, I totally agree that it seems a bit more of a cultured package than the Hornet & MT07. It looks better than both of them too imo. It also very much sounded & seemed to behave like a V-twin, which I love the idea of. For me it's the low down & midrange power that matters most on the road. A banzai top end is always fun but seldom useable or even useful on the road. Although I suspect the youngsters will go Hornet as if they're anything like I was, they're skint & wannabe hooligans lol & who can blame them. Regardless of which you prefer I think it's great that despite their similarities, all of these bikes have their own identity & offer something a bit different, so as you say, you pay your money & take your choice & you can't go wrong regardless. Bring on your comparison, can't wait!
Thanks RR, yeah probably won't be many vids either as other than English Biker Dan and Mossy fir 44teeth not many video chaps there! Chad for Bike World but there's is out already! 👍
@@LambChopRides Ah ok. Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep my eyes peeled. Odd though as there seems to have been dozens of euro journos there based on all the other non-english You Tube vids. MCN & Visordown were definitely there too as they have written reviews out with vids to follow this week I believe. Maybe a different day if you didn't spot them on yours?
270° firing order is identical between these common parallel twins and a 90° Vtwin, which is to say, that's why they sound almost identical.
Whoa that's really incredible! I think Suzuki guys put it a little simple on the S8 for one good reason. And it is called fun and simplicity. You said it a few times though...Cannot compare it to Honda because you were there before me, but having too much gadgets and buttons to work with is a kind of distracting you from the pure ride. Haven't said much I do enjoy the video. Cheers mate!
Great video, thanks. If you are in the area you should try going up the Col de Torini (as used on the Monte Carlo Rally)
Cracking video 😎👍
Nice video. Talking about Suzuki, I'm reminded of a Suzuki GS550 with a sawn off 4 into 1 exhaust back in the day . . what a sound . . . 😆
Wow! What a ride. I think they pushed you wee bit for a minute or two before lunch. Bike looks good. Would definitely have bought one if it was on the market 12 months ago. Looking forward to the Hornet comparison. Also the Tuono...
What actually strike me most is how good it sounds.
Always love mountain roads.
Great review. Twins seem to be taking over ! 😂
Great vid as always 👍
Thanks Ben 😁 👍
@@LambChopRides 👍👍
Fantastic review! I came to your review to get a comparison with the CB750 and at the beginning you said you wouldnt compare. I was disappointed and 2 seconds later the comparison started. And wow what a stunning road and view.
Yes couldn't help myself 🤣👍
Woah - production values are going up - Chops looking as cool as a cucumber on that blue thing. Nice
Thanks Alf 👍 😁
I have a 2012 V-strom. Was thinking of getting one of these.
Thx 🙏🏻 well done, to think about own impressions, not only the numbers ! Especially for taller & heavier rider (like me too 😅)
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍
Lovely Review, looks the business chopsy 👏
Looked great riding Chopsie, it will be interesting to see how it goes up the South Harting Hill climb! I agree it does seem a bit more grown up than the Hornet.
Yes you and me both 😁👍
Comes to something when a Honda is more fun than a Suzy. Barry will be turning in his grave, bless him.
Nice review again , beautiful scenery, , never had much luck with Honda years ago had two wasn’t impressed, too many Suzuki motorcycles to remember but never failed me , , but everything is designed around 2 cylinder machines, all becoming too much alike,
Great review, waiting to see this one in real life , still not sure you need all the technology on these bikes ?
What a road that is! Suzuki played a blinder there.
"I'm on the blue one" at the start of this really got me🤣🤣
Haha good 😁
19 1/2 stone, eh? Ooooh, ya handsome brute, you're wasting away, chap! Nice review, friend; thorough without being boring, good comparisons to the top gun without being biased. Damn, you're getting pretty good at this bikey-talkey-testy thing, bloke! Nice hit of kit; looking forward to getting my boyish pert chutney-locker perched on ons for a test drive. Ta, mate, keep smilin', geezer.......
Very welcome George 😁👍
Chopsy, great review. So good in fact I bought one and it’s flippin brilliant, the hornet felt and looked boring. Suzuki hit the mark after several years of nothing!!
Great Review, seems so much more of a bike than the MT07, rode one whilst my Techmax was in for a service and found it dull as dishwater
Nice. I like the package. Really need to see (and try) it in the metal.
I think (currently on a single) I really want to own a modern inline4 next to experience that character. Plenty of time to have a go with a twin as it seems that's pretty much all new bikes being made in the middleweight class or so it seems.
I'm staying in Nice a couple of days this summer on my way south but not with the bike sadly. I could take a little detour and scare the wife and kids running that road 😝
Cheers!
Awesome that you get launch invites now...
Yeah it's been a good year for it! 👍
Chopster, lovely roads there. I’d prefer this over the bland Hornet. It looks great❤️ This or the 800NK😉
Interesting bike 👍
Enjoyed the review, even though it was nail biting the pace you were setting on those oh so gorgeous roads, you frightened this old boy to death, joking apart it would be really interesting to see the back to back comparison between the Suzuki and the Honda, if possible it would be even better if you included the Yamaha to see how far, if at all it's lagging behind the two new middleweights in this category. Thank you.
I have stayed in Grenoble twice and ridden Route Napoleon a few times, last week I had a week off and did Ride Routes trips of France, downloaded trip 10, the Millau Tour, 8 days and 1850 mile’s Calais to Calais. That trip takes you down part of Route Napoleon.was a fantastic trip and 5 days were all in the mountains.
Wow sounds fantastic 👍
@@LambChopRides you should do that one, it was a great trip.
Good to see that even in Europe some nut runs a cable or a pipe up the lane of a great road ,,but with no comments on it must do it better 😮 ,, great video 👍☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
Love the whistle of the engine , sounds like a supper charger , i have a black bike after testing all the middle weights , the desion took all of 2 nano seconds after i got off the test bike , very disapointed with the hornet the gutless low down torque and vibes all high revs
And don't forget the excellent Triumph Trident 660 Chops. That bike is a class act in this category.
Nice bike I can't wait to see the comparison videos with the Hornet and Trident. and 890 Duke. Maybe the weight being a little more than the Hornet is because of the width of the back wheel. and it might also be why is feels like a bigger bike and a little less flickable. but I think Suzuki should've priced it more in line with it's head on competition. because its hard to justify its thousand dollar price difference over a bike that has more HP. they sure have allot of test riders. I guess all of those bikes get sent to dealers for there test bikes. that's a beautiful road you got to test on.
Looked a lot of fun that Chops, not ridden the Route Napoleon since about 2017, but its a fantastic stretch of road isn't it. I remember taking my Gixxers down there, PROPER naughty 🤣
Thanks Bruce, think you need a tour down that way! 👍
Hello chopsy, just a quick question about your Suzuki gscr 1000 k8 can you please look into which models had the frames that cracked please k5, k6, k6 ? Was it the 600, 750, 1000 thanking you in advance.
You mentioned in a different comment that you have a KTM 690 Supermoto, I’d be very curious how this 8S feels to ride compared to that.
My guess is that the 8S shares a lot of similarities in the power delivery to the road, but overall feels a little less frantic, a little more stable and mellow, but can still be pushed quite hard and has good grunt out of corners.
Beat the snow this time Chops 😂
Can't wait to test ride one of these. Everyone bangs on about the Hornet, but then always suffixes their praise with *at this price*. But since both the Suzuki and Hornet are going for a very similar market-segment, you have to compare the end products and not explain away short-comings with the bottom line. I'm not interested in just aggressive pricing, after all, if Suzuki have spent the extra time and money making something potentially a bit better than the Hornet, then of course you'd expect to spend a little bit more. And since it's you, the rider, that has to live with the machine you put your money down on, I'm sure you'd much rather look back at your bike sat in the garage and be able to say "that's a sexy-looking beast" rather than "what a bargain that mediocre-looking thing was".
Hello, does the bike 'buzz' like a twin (with the twin balancing shafts)? Have a good day, thanks
Seems to have one of the Aprilia Shiver's most frustrating features; good power but almost every single owner wanted a little bit more, because we knew it was there somewhere. And I do wish the Japanese would discover Superleggera ;) Cheers mate!
Waiting to see someone compare this to a sorted late model SV650.
What about the other guy who was popping wheelies? How cool was that? I want one!
Ive got a 20plate gsxs 750, i prefer twins for naked bikes so im probably going to swap for somthing else at some point, but for me i think we need more twins with just over 100hp options. Monster 821 or ktm duke. Would like to give this a try though
Was waiting for this!
So much more attractive than the Hornet and more torque low down. I'd rather have it.
I like that airbox location so perhaps depending on what I have for lunch. I can expect my horsepower to increase on my more spirited rides.
There is a little 'lunch flap' the Japanese described it as in the airbox 😄👍
0:20 mins mountains in southern Spain 😮 😂 your in France man 🇫🇷 you’ve been travelling too much 😂 nice one Chopsey 👍
Haha I noticed that slip up on the editing haha 😄 👍
@@LambChopRides 😂😂 I do it all the time, used to get speed and Street mixed up on triumphs, only on editing you notice and go oh well 😁
I think I'd probably just get the GSX-S1000, how do you think it compares to the GSX-S750Z? thanks
One thing not mentioned was how narrow at 775 the bike is? this is a real attribute for me because the entrance to my yard is very narrow, considering a trade in from the Trident because I , Like you, am tall and heavy, enjoyed the review and the roads with your Greg Davies style.
