Sometimes I can stick the landing with the top 2 and then the B string falls into place. :)
Getting that pinky down just right on the high g note is the hardest part.
You need not to use your pinky finger
You can just remove pinky and keep your ring finger at that place
That’s how I do it

I find myself switching between yours and Justin's guitar videos. I've been practicing for a round Six months now and the C to G is my biggest obstacle. I find myself doing the 123 strum on the C as you pointed out in the video. I am now working on memorizing the position. Next is to master F. Thank you for the many videos.

Have no trouble playing G chord but getting to C and back I am struggling. Will try your method and thank you for this informative video.
lol caught me on the 1-2-3 finger thing..idk why I can't get it yet.. I've been focusing on it for a bit now
andy I can't strum chords and sing at the same time. please make a lesson about this and I'm sure I'm not the only one struggling with this.

WOW this was a lot of help I have no problems changing from C to G but I did from G to C and I just found out by looking at your video that I was forming the C backward starting from A and D to B so I went ahead and reversed it as you do it and it's much easier.

I just can't stretch out my fingers to make C without doing it one finger at a time. G is no probs but C is beyond me. It may happen as I try and keep stretching but it's going to take a while!

Thanks Andy. Can you please make a video about how to strum without the pick moving or falling from your hand? I am using a thin pick and trying to angle it such that it's not exactly perpendicular to the string and still I can consistently strum.
I remember struggling with that... it still takes me about a week to form a barre chord (even though I'm not placing my fingers down one by one on open chords)
This exercise with extra attention to position of my ringfinger helped me a lot! Thanks. Any "tricks" for smooth Am-F-changes? :)

That 'finger style' G chord shape is my default shape for the G chord, for exactly this reason.....it makes the G to C change so much easier

so would you prioritize getting the normal g -> c shapes down before doing the finger style G?
Probably not, since you'd be learning a new chord shape, which would be harder than perfecting the normal g. But it could help out in the long run, so it's up to you.
Plus, if you're not comfortable with using your pinky, it's best not to do that. Practice using your pinky first, and maybe then try this.

Yea. Sussed that out with the pinky but it's still a little slow. A few months more practice and I'll get it.

So learning both ways would be good? Perhaps if your song in mostly going G to D I would do the standard way except I use my index on the #2 to make my landing on the G easier.
But on a song that has a lot of G to C use this method.

I have trouble getting my pinky on the high E while also getting my ring finger on the low E. I am working on it but my fingers don't like that position.
When i go from Cmaj to Gmaj, the open G string keeps ringing. How do i keep it from ringing? Will it require some finesse to use one of my fingers to lightly tap the open G string between chord changes?

Lol when I try holding my fingers 5mm over the chords it feels like my hand is thinking so hard that it hurts

i always play open g with my pinky but not my ring. Apparently i'm the only one. then i add the ring finger if i want to play open g with d on the b-string.

G chord , I use three and four fingers anyway. fingers 1,2 3 and 2,3,4, and 1,2,3,4
Switching from A minor to G is also difficult.

I’ve been using my pinky for g is that wrong
I just use my index finger to fret the e string and mute the a string for my g chord. So all I fret are the two e strings.

You can try using barre-G which is the same shape as Bm just up one string and on 3rd fret. Like: 3 5 5 4 3 3

With barré chord you can play it as E on the first and third fret. Then you just need to move your hand up and down.
