- I have a brand new Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop that I will be cloning factory SSD to a new Samsung EVO 970 Plus NVMe SSD, open it up to install new SSD, Install 2.5" SATA SSD and add more memory. Model PH315-53-72XD.

Perfection! Just bought a new Helios 300 from Micro Centers, and wanted to upgrade my RAM to 32G myself. This video made it easy and appreciated the tips on how NOT to screw up the thin Aluminum casing!
Happy to hear. U've made beautiful choice. I'm a Helios 300 user myself of 2019 model i bought around 2 yrs back. The Looks and the Metallic feel is like no other laptop. Mine's got gtx 1660ti and ram i upgraded myself to 16. What are the specs on yours ?
Also have u bought the extended warranty 2yr (total 3years) that acer gives are really cheap price which is to be availed within 7 to 9 days of buying ?
This Laptop is my everything! bought it last year on Amazon. I'm not a huge gamer, I have my old favorites and it covers everything I need. Expanding the storage is a must however

@@CadillacComputerCenter I have a question I can fix pretty much every thing and am skilled what I do not have experience is batteries I have a Hellios 300 10th gen but it came with 55wats battery I can not find an original battery that supports 90watts I need more amphers, but I need the correct voltage otherwise I can just cause a short circuit and fry my motherboard can you advise me how to bypass this I am building a laptop for the next ten years I am modifying it so I need to know how do I go on about doing this do I take the original battery, buy a 90watts and install the chipset from the original battery reverse engineer it or how do I go about that.
Very factual and straight to the point. My go to for changing out pieces now.

These laptops are so robust, I've actually swapped out my fans, SSD's and NVME's while it's still alive. Been mining with it if not gaming for a good 2 years now. I will say though the GPU fan (under the NUM keys) have gone on me twice. First one was a defect, paid for a new one to keep my warranty and repair it at home. Again, a robust laptop.
Make sure you undervolt it, they have alot more headroom than you think.

I am now going to upgrade my factory NVME drive to a Samsung 980 Pro. 'See if I can get a little more speed. (I finally did it. There is now a 980 Pro in the primary drive slot! Yeah!) (It is not really lacking, I just gotta tinker.) The only thing I "worry" about is the clone. You make that part look easy. Cheers.

Great video. But a small correction; the fans suck air in from the bottom of the chassis and blow air out from both side and rear vents
I was considering to buy this laptop, but with rtx 3070. Is cooling in it that big of a problem?
@@piotrbeczkowski1517 I have one with 3070, GPU cooling is fine(50-60 C), however CPU may get 90-95 degrees Celsius during gaming when Cool boost and turbo modes for fans are disabled. When they are enabled CPU temperature is 70-85, so it is ok, but the fans are loud on turbo modes

@@enzoluizortiz3014 Each slot can have maximum 1TB so by 2 slots you can get max 2TB SSD, not 2TB SSD per slot...

This is a really great laptop. I think it is the same model I got. It is the RTX 3060 one, right? I just put a 2TB in the second SSD slot on mine. It is really annoying to open though. Fortunately, all the screws are the same size so you don't have to worry about keeping track what screws go into what holes.

To be clear. Once the breakdown started there was nothing but the breakdown. The only thing I wish you did was use UA-cam's chapter feature to mark pretalk and key points in the breakdown
@@CadillacComputerCenter I recently purchased the 3060 model variant of this because my old tower died and was lost on how to rip the ssd from the old comp and put it in this. Most other breakdowns didn't show how to open the damn thing. I'm glad you did. works beautifully, if a bit scuffed. Didn't have that nifty plastic triangle so I had to make do.

Thx for sharing, it was a nice video, very detailed. Something I've noticed you've put a 1TB NVME SSD, but the manual says it supports 512GB on each bay, maybe the Brazilian version supports only 512GB :( Acer really hates LATAM lol.
don't worry, it'll support anything you put in there as long as it's on the same bus.

I would keep the original 512 gb with os clean install for future copying if the 1 tb corrupts or the NVME fully fails. Plus, I'll fill up the 512 gb day 1. Replacing mine with 2x2TB NVME and a 4TB ssd for the time being.

Came back to say my predator helios 300 doesn't have the ssd/hdd bay. It is taken up with a bigger battery. Make sure to check before you buy the drive lol.
yeah adata has good ssd nvme(XPG series) or sata (SU series). Im more familiar in ssd with adata & kingston on hdds with WD & Seagate 😝

im not really a techie so pardon for the stupid question. a couple of questions really. is it possible to clone the booting ssd on to the new one by installing the new ssd on the slot? (i dont have ssd enclosure and im being stingy. LOL) and also is it possible to use the inserted ssd as the boot drive? thank you for your time
Hopefully the price drops to 1.2k or below on this model, already have a 2TB 2.5 spinner and about to get a 2TB m.2 for it. Maybe once the 3060s pop up they'll drop. Shame I missed it when it was 1k last year.
8 months later, the 2021 model with the GTX3060 is only like $1200-$1300 on Amazon. Your wish came true!

hi! Not a bad setup. The 3 ms could have been 1 ms. The refresh rate could have been higher than the 144Hz. The RAM speed is dismal at 2933Mhz. Decent job on the video, but after you say Guys 350 times I'm ready to scream.

Hey, quick question: When you remove the drive, are all the memory files deleted? Do you get more memory, or is it a memory replacement and you lose all your previously stored files?

Why do you have to use a USB A/C to M.2 NVMe Adapter? Can't you install it inside the laptop first and then copy it? does it affect the bios?

I have the 2021 model, one question.. Is it possible to install 32gb only in one port and the other remains empty? Or it is better to have the memory in both ports half, 16 gb each port? Other could be 16gb one port, and the other remains with its 8gb ram? Wich configuration is better? Thanks in advance and congrats for the good videos.
I love this computer but the one thing I don’t like is that it’s so hard to upgrade. Despite the fact that one of the things it brags about is having room for 2 more ssd’s

I have a Dell G5 and wanted to upgrade my storage. Dell didn't include the caddy, just an empty slot. No screws or data cable either and I can't find the type of cable you're using, only the thicker canoers which won't fit. Where would I find the missing pieces?
If I were installing a second SSD, but still wanted to keep the original installed, could I also use that cloning software with the new SSD already installed and then wipe the original SSD? Just so then I don't have to pick up this adapter?
Also, does that cloning software work if you're going from an HDD to an SSD? Curious for an older build that still only has an HDD.

bruh, you said you'd leave the original thermal pad but you took it out with the original ssd, the original thermal pad you left was the other side with no ssd
so I installed the new 2.5 SSD as well as memory, now its just stuck on the black screen like what is in the video where its suppose to "post" but it hasnt gone through... its been about 15 minutes and it hasnt done anything. i tried turning it off then back on and nothing happened.. just stuck on the black screen assuming its trying to boot from the 2.5 ssd?
So if i want to upgrade the spare m2 drive and keep the original i do not need to worry about cloning the data over?

My predator Helios 300 never came with a SATA cable and I’ve had no luck finding a replacement one that works, where could I get one?

@@mvyhem I actually tried to go through Acer themselves but they said that they don’t carry the part for this model of laptop. I had to contact capital data (an authorized Acer reseller) and get a special order for the part that ended up costing me 46 bucks. It’s a shame that Acer wouldn’t actually help me and it resulted in me having to pay that much money for a dumb little cable
