    I can highly recommend this helmet. It has already saved me 3 times from crushes, especially the 3rd crushed at the Bikepark, were I flew separately from my bike and landed my head first to the ground. Not only that, my bike also landed almost on my head. Thankful to God and ofcourse to this helmet.

    Great review, thanks! Is the helmet DH certified?
    I've got a Bell Super Air something, great lightweight convertible helmet but it is not DH certified.

      Thank you. I believe it is but I’m not 100% sure. I have just pulled this off the IXS website, I hope it helps…

    It would have been nice to see how to remove the cheek pads. I tried but failed, I'm afraid to damage them... It's clipped, but it's crazy how these clips are strong...!

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking  2 роки тому

      Hello, yes the clips that hold in the cheek pads are very strong! However they do pull off the clips. If you don’t need to remove them I would maybe avoid it. Not sure how much they can take before being damaged.

    • @-zoave-
      @-zoave- 2 роки тому +1

      Thanks :) I finally succeeded ! It's very strong yes. I needed to change the pads for the size S.

      It's a good idea to remove the cheek pads after every ride as the sweat makes the rivets that fasten the straps to the shell rust. Happens on all ff helmets. Or treat the rivets with a rust preventative when new.

    thanks for the review, just wondering if there was a suitable place for a gopro mount on top of the helmet, as i use this mount for a light for night riding, thanks carl

      @JakeBrookesBiking  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Carl, you are welcome, I hope the video was useful. Yes there is space in the top of the helmet for a GoPro mount. A GoPro mount on this helmet can be seen in the following link on the slide show of pictures, I hope this helps 😊

    Looking to get helmet but was wondering if the visor is adjustable?

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking  Рік тому

      Hello Matt, the visor can be lifted up to store your goggles but does not come any further down. The lowest the visor will go is the same as it is in the thumbnail picture of this video. The visor will stop between these 2 positions but it wants to rest either up or down. I hope this helps.

    Nice review. How’s the sizing for you ? I’m right at 58 also. Debating whether to go with the s/m.

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking  2 роки тому +1

      The M/L fits my head very well. Snug and secure. I haven’t tried on the S/M yet but on paper it should fit. There is plenty of adjustability left on my helmet even with me being on the bottom end of the size range for M/L. I went for the M/L over the S/M just because I am always a larger size when it comes to helmets. I suppose the shape of your head will also come into this. I know my head is quite wide.
      Sorry I know that isn’t super useful. But hopefully it helps a little.

    How do you replace the cheek pads? Is there some trick or just brute force? I pulled and I'm worried at some point I will rip out the socket from the foam, but it won't go. I tried all 4.

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking  2 роки тому

      Hi MGL. I was worried about this too, It does require a fair bit of pulling and I did manage to take one clip off. It has gone back on fine but I’m not sure if they are designed for repeated pulling on and off. If you don’t need to remove the pad I would maybe try to avoid it.
      If you do find a trick to removing them, please let me know.
      Sorry I can’t be of much help

    • @MGL83
      @MGL83 2 роки тому +1

      @@JakeBrookesBiking I had to take them out. Thing is, I have a big head and even the slimmer cheekpads push on my jaw quite a lot, so I have to take them off and remove some of the foam padding. You said they just need to be pulled, so I decided to risk it, and yanked full force. They finally popped out and looks like no damage, so success :)
